This is the best tutorial on the ford EFI I've yet to see. Thank you.
I feel like ScannerDanner talks in laymen to the educated, while Eric talks in laymen to the uneducated. Both have their purposes, but for me Eric makes it a million times easier to check and work on my car problems. Thanks for the videos!
I love that you two know each other! I have been watching Eric for years now and recently found Paul, because I have an issue. Was crank, no start and now is suddenly a no start. Trying to figure it out...found this video. So cool!
I like the fact they show you different ways to diagnose problems if the more advance tools aren't available, understanding systems and how they work are your best tool you can have. Your approach with that knowledge determines your next move. Throwing parts at an issue can be time consuming and a waste of money if the problem isn't solved.
Dude your amazing. I love how you keep asking questions to make it so much simpler and dumbing it down because I’ve seen about 10 other videos and I always get lost but as you went along I actually understood everything. Keep it up man.
Great video. I like the reference to the hall effect switch even though it may be intimidating to novice mechanics, it is necessary to talk the talk and really, to further their research into components.
The conversation relating to test lights and simple stuff as where to place ground leads is invaluable.
Keep up the good work.
Just a country boy that tries to keep his old fords runnin without new wave tools. Thanks so much for takin the time to do this.
Now I did hear a bit of frustration from someone buttin in. But thanks to both yall.
Eric the car guy and Scanner Danner, I really love your videos. You guys have been helping me a lot! I am an international student studying automotive service technology at Joliet Junior College. It's amazing to see how fast the vehicle industry is changing. Keep up the good work you make a good team!!!
Incredible mechanic. I idolize. Love the combo of the two of you, the technical knowledge and the simplified version! Subbed
Thank you for responding. I was happy to see it in your video. It represents the rank insignia of the Navy Chief Petty Officer. The Chief earns their rank with years of hard work, demonstrating the strongest knowledge within their rating, as well as great leadership skills. It is wonderful you remember your Dad with an acknowledge Military tribute to the Navy Chief Petty Officer. Thank you and I thank your Dad for his service to his country. Bediasman (U.S. Navy retired)
Damn danner slow down just when I thought I was catching up with you I find out you're 10 light-years ahead of me. I will follow this awesome teacher until the end of time.
I watched the video I did as you did my truck is now up and running! Thank you scanner Danner !
Thank you Scanner and Eric... This was the problmen with my F-150. Left me high and dry in the Home Depot parking lot.Un-fortunently I could NOT dissamble the distributer in the parking lot... :( Couldn't figure out how to do it. So I bit the bullet and replaced the whole distributor. But I did have an extra pick up cable an got my spark when connected...Thank you so much for getting me in the correct spot.
Fantastic having Paul back for a vid. I have never seen Paul do a mechanical repair, seems electrical is where the money is. Well done Eric !!
Two legend. In the same place. At the same time.
Finally after 2 years I found what is the problem on my f150. Thank you so much guys y’all earn a new subscriber.
haha no way dude. I am no where near his ability and knowledge. He is awesome! I am going to a GDI class he is teaching in September. Best instructor I have ever had the pleasure of listening too.
Way cool video, two of my favorite car guys together diagnosing a no start. Good job guys
Id like to say thank you for this video! I have a 92 ford f150 4.9 that I had a no spark about a month ago. I threw parts at it. New pcm ,new fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator ( dont ever buy a harbor freight fuel pressure tester) fuel filter, and then finally a new icm. Well it died on me a few weeks later.. no spark. Well instead of throwing parts at my truck you helped me diagnose it properly. Failed brand new icm. Thank you sir!!!! Also icing on the cake is that you're a brother in Christ! Definitely subbing!
Hello Eric, saw this great video with you and Paul. My 1990 Ford F150 4.9 is giving me problems to start it in the morning, I have to pump it some 35-50 times before I could start it, after that it would start with no problems. Before it would start with no problems, but now this is what I need to fix. Thank you.
Another great ETCG and SD class. Cant stress enough the importance of getting a great foundation understanding of cars functional systems and how to properly and ACCURATELY diagnose. Anyone can guess and through parts but professional Techs know to detect the root cause of problem and why it failed.
It's great to see you guys working together years to come this video will be the ultimate classic already begin to be a classic. 👍
10 years later this is helping me troubleshoot my crank no start. Thanks!
Best two car repair video guys in the business. I watch you both all the time. Keep it up!
One of the most inportant in this vídeo is the good colaboration of that 2 Masters!! Thanks
Thanks for all the very useful info and procedures you give for finding the problem and how to fix it! I've found them useful for many diagnosing and repairs. On top of that, you cover a lot of different problems that people have with their autos.!
Your teaching is well absorbed and I really learned from just watching your videos. Love it will continue to watch your shows..
very helpful to watch two guys who actually know what the hell is going on! I've got a 1994 F150 kickin' my butt and this helped a lot.
Eric, you have lost a bit of weight since this one, Great to watch it again.
You guys are amazing I cannot tell you how much I’ve learned watching your videos You are heroes to me Thank you so much
Liked to thank you guys for your video. After 10 months trying to fix my truck. And did your test. Yep, it was the Distributor.
Eric and Paul are such a good guy who teach mechanics a lot for free thanks you guys MAY GOD BLESS YOU YOUR WORK AND KEEP YOU IN GOOD HEALTH AMEN THANKS..
Fantastically informative! Really loved getting to understand how all that works and how to test it with my simple tools.
this is my 10th time watching this. so good stuff. Nice work guys. . love it every time i watch it.
Two giants in the field. Great vid guys.
this was exactly the testing procedure ive been searching for. thank you very much fellas
great to see you guys together.
I live in Puerto Rico in the Caribbean, I learn a lot from Scannerdanner, the best
Thanks for the video , every year my truck gets older the more I like it. 1995 Ford F150 300 I6. Not a mechanic , you guys are appreciated. Liked & subscribed
I like this format of ScannerDanner being all technical and ETCG playing the average Joe. Like somebody else has said, you guys should do more videos like this - they cater to both demographics.
Can't believe you guys know each other. Amazing.
I love it when you two make videos together. Very entertaining and informative. So he CAN actually do diagnostics without a labscope. :P Keep it up guys you're awesome.
This video helped me fix my 1996 F-150 5.0 I put in a new distributor and my truck is fixed. Thank you for sharing.
Holy shit. I just realized I first watched this almost 9 years ago... Both Eric and Paul look so much younger!
I like the way Eric keeps Danner on track as he is inclined to digress quite a lot.
You guys keep making me late for work. I shouldnt watch in the mornings. Thanks for your experience. This stuff is so awesome.
This was and always is an Awesome presentation of trouble shooting. I have this problem with my Ford 250 4x4. Thank you, to both of you.
I'm just getting back into auto work and I'm learning more about the electrical issues vehicles encounter MR Danner is by far the best in his field of expertise. in just a couple of short weeks in now looking in my Haynes books and looking at electrical charts. never in my life have I been interested in electrical work but now I almost want someone to go out to my car and create a problem so I can go out and try to figure it out . thanks to all you great tecs for your knowledge
I used to do this test since back in the 80's.. and still do it on to this day on some 90's Ford 's .. I did this test on the LTD Fords.
@Bediasman thanks for your service too my friend and for the info. on that piece, it really means a lot. i don't have much to remember him by. i was six months old when he died.
This was fun to watch. I like when different people get together like that. Cheerz
I like both of you technicians.. Not mechanics as the insulting word. Technicians... I'm subscribed to both of you, and the knowledge I'm learning just made my life easier. School doesn't teach u everything, it's the experiences redundantly that prepares for answers.
Thanks guys. Im really keen on learning scannerdanners stuff. Scope stuffs awesome. Anyway cheers to both of you.
Great video, just what the average gearhead needs. This just fixed a problem on a friends truck. thanks guys.
man i really love it when u guys team up,u guys should have your own t.v. show!!!!
Awesome vid, thanks Eric and ScannerDanner! You guys should collaborate more often!
The best! I finally learned what PIP means in this case. Its the best of both worlds here betwen the two of you. I had fun and learned exponentially to understand whats happening with this tye of older Hall effect ingnition system.
I like both of you guys, for different reasons. I'm glad you're friends!
excellent, two very skilled technicians.
Thanks both of you...learnt heaps, God bless both of you with more wisdom, wealth, health.
Great Video; used it to check my No Start Bronco. Suspected the pick-up coil but did not know how to check it. Thank you very much.
Very good video I work on so many different things this helped me to remember what I had already been taught thanks again
Great work you two. I had this same exact problem. I used a LED to see the trigger signal instead of my multimeter and that made it easy to see the trigger pulses at idle. Super cheap ! Love that T pin idea for clipping onto with meter lead.
Eric Sir. Your video is a greatly appreciated, easy to follow and understand video, made for the average person to understand. Your breakdown of your guest's explanations were necessary for us to grasp his technical explanations. Thank you. It def will help me out with VERY SIMILAR situation with my 92 Taurus-373,000 miles!! =)) PLEASE CONTINUE THESE GREAT VIDEOS. Thank you for your dedication to this new era of education...CZcams.
By far the best car advice on CZcams!
ive been wrenching for 25 years, scanner danner is someone ill be keeping my eye on.
Absolutely the best video I’ve seen, very detailed. I do believe I can find my problem. Thank you
I used that trick way back in 1985 I had a Chrysler laser 2.2 turbo . It started by losing power but it would restart . I started by removing the hall effect and on a 2.2 engine its 5 min job. I ran a metal strip and it would only make a weak spark . So even if it gives a spark it may be a low spark . I learned it from my day in the 70s . He was a master mechanic.
Scanner Danner is the coolest guy I ever know in this automotive industry
I love watching these two guys!!!
its good you break this down and use tools the average keen green mechanic has and can identify with ...thanks guys...great vid Eric.
The Paul and Eric Show: the future of automotive repair sitcoms.
Excellent captivating video. I learned a great deal. I like the format of two smart guys playing a role.
It appears that you didn't really know what the broken item was ahead of the video, so it was especially convincing.
You two are a great Team ! Hope to see more of these...
This dialogue was absolutely great teaching.
You two are brilliant!!! Thanks for the video.
You guys are so helpful I've been trying so hard to get this 1982 f150 with a 1972 300 inline 6 4.9 l engine. I'm having a crank no start as well I'm new to odometers so I'm gonna try these tests tomorrow
Good teaching both of you keep up the good work , Johnny Estrada
Wow! This two guys are both knowledgeable. To all aspect of troubleshooting....i like the way how u check the circuit in a simple way. Thumps up both of u guys👍👍👍👍....
Hey! Two of my favorite car guys , rolled into two brains are better than one video! thanks guys.
You two work great together. I have watched both ETCG1 and scannerdanner videos and prefer it when you are working together. Because we get the Homer Simpson explanation behind the Einstein theory.
lmao
I'm no Einstein and Eric is certainly not Homer Simpson. But I know you did not mean that in a bad way :-)
Love watching both of u together u guys are awesome keep the vids coming :)
I didnt watch to learn anything, but ended up learning a lot.
Quality video guys.
My two favorite techs!!!! Awesome video!!!
Thanks, guys! Fixed a non-starting 96 150 with the information from this Video!!!
Loved the video Eric, you two are awesome! A lot of fun to watch and learned a lot, as usual. You two definitely need to keep making these when you can. Also as a side note Eric, I'm loving that you're a Subaru fan now! That Legacy must be convincing you...when you get rid of it you should buy a new one for yourself!
This is a really awesome video. Thanks Eric and Dan
I love scanner danner when he do things like testing without al his fancy scanners and scoops. I dont have those things at home and this way i learn how you can do all of your testing without those fancy things. Great vid Eric, thx for this. I have learnd a lot today.
My test at the pip was 60.4mv,?? What the heck. I have no spark. I'm guessing it's the ICM. I'll keep going through the process.good video. Well, it was the ICM.. put new one in and fired right up.. this no start issue gave me plenty of time to upgrade electrical and other stuff while it was down.. great video guys, I know it's many years later.
Well it's what myself and many others do want to know. This kind of information is extremely valuable.
LOVED THE VIDEO!!!!!!!! LOVE IT WHEN THESE GUYS GET TOGETHER!!!!!!!
Thanks you for all your videos
You are a really great teacher

freakin sweet ele diag video man! love it!
12:50ish Scanner Danner looked annoyed. Hahahah. Love these guys.
When these 2 talk, you listen and absorb their knowledge like sponge. I had 2 teachers like scanner danner and I learned a TON from the Oldskool, These 2 are beast in the mechanic field, pick up on that and use it to smash on life God Bless.
oldschool funk noce to see you here!
I also love your videos. 👍
