Come on another tour of my Wild Welsh Garden, this time in high summer, the middle of July, and I`ll show how I am trying to make my garden both beautiful for people and attractive to wildlife
Thank you Isabel absolutely love the garden tour and the blackbird is adorable 🥰. Your garden is so peaceful I bet the sounds of the birds and other animals living with you sound lovely early morning and in the evening just lovely to sit and listen to 💚 . Our garden is growing well as we have had a lot of rain this year far more than we usually get in the summer in northern Portugal. We have a lot of beautiful birds visiting the dawn courous is amazing. Very best wishes x
I`m pleased to hear your garden is thriving and you have many birds. The plants are doing well with all this rain. The forecast is for the weather to become more settled, so I hope the insects will recover.
Hello Isabel, thank you so much for sharing your garden with me! I have gradually become a wild gardener! I used to try to copy garden magazines very controlled approach to gardening but over time I realized letting nature do what nature does is a much more beneficial path. I watch Joel Ashton's wild garden as well. I see so much more wildlife now, new creatures every year! I now think of my yard as a food bank and home for wildlife foremost and a visual delight second. I appreciate listening to your knowledge and observations! All the best to you from Massachusetts!😊🌲🌳
Hello in Massachusetts. You`re very welcome. It`s great to meet another wild gardener. I watch Joel Ashton too, but he knows what he`s doing and what he`s talking about. I`m only learning, so just sharing the process. Like you I tried to copy the magazines and television programs and have found standing back and letting nature take the lead quite hard really. But, like you, the rewards are the amount of wildlife I am seeing. Thanks for watching.
Hi Isabel. I'm also a wildlife gardener, as much as I can be. I deadhead my roses so they will carry on flowering but then when I think they are about done, I leave them. 👍
Hello Isabel thanks for another tour of your garden. I do not think it is messy it looks like the habitats we are aiming for. Trimming back the pathways just adds another focus to the garden. The view with the surrounding area is stunning with everything so green. One native plant that has expanded all over my garden is self heal it seems to be popping up everywhere, while i am writing this i am watching four sparrow fledglings being fed just outside my window. thanks again and look forward to the next video. Take care and stay safe. Bryan fae Orkney.
Thanks Bryan. Yes, I have self heal. It started off in the lawn, but now it`s in the borders too. I used to pull it out, but not any more. I`m glad you have sparrows to keep you company. They are so cute! Glad you enjoyed the video.
How many conventional gardeners ever get to sit? Very few as they always spot something to 'tidy'. I like seeing how your garden is evolving. Such abundance. Re the roses, if you choose ones that have rosehips 😊
Your garden is beautiful. I just discovered your channel today and will enjoy going through your archives while waiting for more updates. Cheers from Nova Scotia, Canada!
Rain 😂😂 what is that, we have been promised some sky watering by July 20 🤞🤞. Although luckily it has dropped from the weeks of 38c we’ve had and it’s a balmy 29c. It’s all looking lovely Isabel and the birds seem quite happy. Have a marvellous weekend and hope you get some of that golden globe in the sky 🌞, Ali
Wow! That`s hot! Yesterday was 14c here! I think the forecast is improving, so maybe the sun will shine. All gardeners seem to be struggling for different reasons. Hope you`re well, despite the heat.
I thoroughly enjoyed your July garden tour. I like the 'messy' areas beside your lawn, the mixture of flower's and grasses look really lovely. When sitting in my garden I now resist the urge to pull up 'weeds'! As regards butterflies, I've only seen two tortoiseshell's so far this year and unfortunately one of them was dead which was a bit upsetting!
I`m so glad you enjoyed the tour. I only counted one white butterfly in the garden yesterday. I saw a ringlet last week, but that`s all. The weather is supposed to improve soon, so I am hoping the insects will recover.
Wonderful and inspirational tour Isobel. I agree with you, the bee and butterfly numbers are down this year in my garden too. Thank you for sharing.🐞🌻🌱
You`re welcome. A lot of people have been worried about the insect numbers. I have plenty of bees but still hardly any butterflies. Maybe some improvement this last few days. Fingers crossed.
Just found you on CZcams, it's just my sort of garden. so I'll follow with keen interest, I also publish short films ( once a Month on CZcams) about our own Wildlife Garden , I'm so glad I've found you and will follow you on the notifications.
Hello David, I`m glad you found me too. I`ve been following you for about a year. I love your garden and hearing a north west accent. I come from Liverpool originally and lived in Wigan for 30 years. I`ve been in Wales for 6 years. Welcome to my channel.
I`m so glad you like seeing my garden and the rain. My garden does love the rain - green and growing. It`s just that the insects don`t like it much. Thanks for watching.
Been having similar decisions about my roses, decided to dead head the first flush and then leave for hips. This year I set up a water lagoon, we seem to be on the same wavelength gardening wise.👍
I need to find out which of my roses produce hips. I`ve never given them the chance before. Will you let me know if you get any hoverfly larvae in your lagoon?
How I envy you that rain! 💧💦☔️I live in London and my garden has gone over already! Few late bloomers. Have you got Valeriana officianalis? Think you’d love it. Pollinators do and it’s a self seeder. Lavender finished just cut back otherwise it becomes woody. I do have to pull self seeders on the path.😱
I wish I could share our rain with you. No I don`t know valerian at all. I had to look it up and it looks lovely. I`m not sure there is any growing around here. I`ll have to look for it.
@@mywildwelshgarden-es3fr It’s very easy to grow from seed which is available in a packet. Once you have the plant you will never have to sow it again. Chiltern seeds have it.
Do you mean about the planning permission request to build a house? Nothing at the moment. The council website says there is an appeal pending which suggests the request for planning permission was turned down. My neighbour - who knows everything! - Doesn`t know.
The garden is magnificent 😍
Thank you, for giving the "local critters" a beautiful home.
Blessings XX
Thanks so much.

What a delightful garden! This is, to my mind, what a garden should look like. Greetings from a sunny, yet quite chilly, Johannesburg in South Africa.
Johannesburg! Wow! Greetings from my mountain in Northern California! See you on the channel. Isabel is a wonderful inspiration. xxxoo
Aaah thanks x
Hello In Johannesburg. Welcome to my channel. I`m so glad you like my garden. Thanks for watching
Looks a lot like my garden, so I love what you've allowed to happen, obviously.
That`s good to hear. Thanks.
Isnt it fun to learn something different!
It is indeed.
Hi Isabel. I'm also a wildlife gardener, as much as I can be. I deadhead my roses so they will carry on flowering but then when I think they are about done, I leave them. 👍
Hello there, fellow wildlife gardener! That`s great to hear. Thanks for the advice and thanks for watching.

Thanks very much. I`ll have to wait and see which ones form rosehips. I`ve never given them the chance before.

Hello in Canada. I have a daughter who lives in Vancouver. I think where you live is a bit wilder? Welcome to my garden and thanks for watching.

Your garden looks so lush and green!😊 I'm doing nothing in my farden because we have to ration our water well...:( loved seeing yours

I fight sticky weed every year.
It`s not a problem for me.

Why does having clean air mean you get more black spot? Enjoy your wild garden.
The pollutants in the air act like a fungicide so if you live in a town near a busy road you get less blackspot!
Isabel, what is going on across the road?
