  • Hailed as the most faithfully filmed adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's legendary characters. This acclaimed series stars Ronald Howard as the world-famous sleuth and H. Marion Crawford in a different portrayal of Dr. Watson than usual.
THE CASE OF THE TYRANT'S DAUGHTER: Cold-hearted Mr. Harringway is so opposed to his stepdaughter marrying Tom Vernon that he offers the young man money to go away. When Harrington is found dead from strychnine poisoning, Lestrade locks up Tom, a chemist, charging him with murder. The Harringway's housekeeper comes to Holmes for help, convinced that Tom could never do such a thing, despite the evidence otherwise.

Well That's it. The final episode. And not a hint in this episode that the series has ended for good and to be lost forever. What a brutal way to end after 39 fabulous episodes.
Well it was fun and a joyride. I think everyone must see this and cherish it. Both H.Marion and Ronald were great and fun. They were not over the top and were always on point as characters. I enjoyed them a lot and I will miss it always. Will come to watch again if I forget about it. Thanks Pizzaflix for being the most kindest channel on Earth.

Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Watson and Lestrade are a trio, all three equally essential and important to the spirit of the story and these episode are a joy because of them and their characters, all three complimentary and balancing to provide satisfying coziness in a blanket with hot chocolate.
I could rewatch this more than ten times again and again. Lestrade is lovable in his own way too, though bumbling fool, but its his tiffs that add delight and comfort not to mention I adore his Irish manner and look (he's like their only friend)...Dr. Watson is kind and sympathetic (kind of like a worried elderly grandfather), and Holmes is Holmes (kind of like a small boy, grandson)...all three are similarly needed in the story, the absence of either and it just wouldn't be the same :-) !!!

Jeremy Brett had a very distinctive interpretation. I enjoy his acting but I don't feel it captures the character of Holmes in the original stories. Authenticity isn't everything - for example I love Basil Rathbone for his bravura performance 🙂. Brett created his own version of Holmes which is definitely worth watching. However, I read a lot of fiction from that period and he doesn't quite ring true as a Victorian.
