This beautiful song tells such a tragic tale. A tale of love prevented and as a result she and her lover drown themselves in an effort to be together.
beautiful ! than'ks to the boys on Ryanair flight )) from Morocco, North Africa.
Irish music is safe once again. I love their music.
Are you still alive
@@josephobrien2499 😂😂😂😂😂

car insurance ads telling the viewers to skip the ad at the exact moment when the skip option is available is something im glad to be alive for in 2019. that said, i love this song.
I remember going absolutely nuts for this song as a kid when we sung this with them at the O2 with young voices
I'm here because of the fellas from St. Brendan's college on Ryanair flight.

Marcelo Franco hahaha same
I would LOVE to see a show
What a fantastic song!!
Oh yeah, baby! This is why the "Kings" call their style "Folk and Roll"! And hey, soadfreak, I also caught them at Milwaukee Irish Fest and am really excited about the new CD coming out soon. Loved their original songs, and got to tell them so myself, when I had them sign one of my CDs.
Hahah bet I'd never see this message again
Seen them live in Melbourne Australia. Brilliant band ...
Any1 here form the video of the young lads on the plane? 🇮🇪
Tani Sänger 💩

Haven't seen it haha just listening to irish songs
Thanks to Brendan college for bringing me here and introducing me to these guys!!
Me too, these guys are amazing. I'm Brazilian 🇧🇷🇧🇷
.a song that was sung by an irish singer fron dublin called danny doyle who .i think later emegrated to america .i think it was 1967 ,i was 16 yr s at the time ...ansd my mother used to tease me . .because my name..was mary...innicent days.....
I seldom like performances more than recordings, but this is an exception
It's so sad because if you listen well
her and the soldier drowns together but still
a good song I almost cried
Molly Moo I may propose a more positive interpretation :)
The part of the song which tell that she drown on the river is called a "bridge" in music composition. A river... A bridge... And the soldier also drown even if it's not his wedding. He will definitely try something to keep Mary.
I mean that they may have flew the village together faking their death, taking the bridge ! As the father is counting the story, she and the soldier are drown for his point of view :)
So "step it out" would more apply on the flew than on her wedding :)
But that's only a theory !
Louis Devers I kinda agree 💡
Oh my god, this is my old comment.
Titanic level story
The High Kings Tours
Saw this song for the first time last nite. Very powerful song.
Oh, forgot to tell i'm very fond of Your culture and most of all the MUSIC. LOVE it. Best regards, and keep up the good work!
I am from an Island called Newfoundland that is very highly irish cultured. Our music is often confused as irish music although we call it Newfoundland its background is irish. We have a show on the radio that plays newfoundland music. But features many bands that are local or recognizable to only Ireland. Now this band is world wide but is never on that station. Its the best version of this song that I have heard. I heard a few different versions. This is the best version I have heard.
greetings from Johns Street in Waterford in Ireland!!
The Irish language radio station, RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta here in Ireland plays quite a lot of music from Newfoundland. Some fine musicians come from there and the sound is pretty similar to our own.
Newfie music is the love child of Irish/Scottish/english music haha
Can any of you translate the Gaelic part of As I Roved Out, also sang by The High Kings, for me? Love their songs, but I wanna know what it means!!!
Thanks Kenneth, hope I live long enough for to visit Newfoundland one of the days
GOOD MAN AND GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL

Step it out Ashley Meyers
The lyrics boil down to this :"So, you can't marry the man you love, you're going to show your legs to the country man and marry him as I (your father) command."
Not the most peacy message, but hey, it's catchy.
And then "No, father, you don't own me and you never will, even if my only choice is to die."
C McMichael .. refreshing. Sick to death of pc
