Hello my fellow how gardener and thank you for watching my video. I also grow dahlias in my home garden so when you said that the blooms are being eaten, the only pest that came to mind is a thrip. They love eating dahlia flower buds as well as blooms. You can try using Neem oil aggressively on both the blooms, the leaves as well as the soil surface below. If that doesn't work you'll have to use insecticidal soap. Please keep me updated. Be well and Happy Gardening !!!

Thank you for the tips. I have a tomato 🍅 garden raise bed and its growing weeds. Also, your raise garden bed soil is so dark and healthy. What do you do to it ?

Hello and thank you for watching my video. Im sorry to hear that our getting unwanted weeds in your raised garden beds. Unfortunately during hot Summer months, the only thing to prevent weeds is to place natural/untreated mulch down. If you can't afford to spend the extra money right now, then the free options are dried pine needles or even dried grass clipping ( just make sure that the grass wasn't treated with any chemicals). I always amend my raised bed soil with manure and /or compost in the Spring roughly 3 weeks before I plant any crops. Also, as I mentioned int his video I do make sure that I keep a close eye on the moisture content of the soil, hence water it 2 times each day when the temps go above 80 degrees F. Please let me know if you have anymore questions or concerns. Be well and Happy Gardening!!!
