When I saw them at Ontario Place on the round revolving stage, they began by sitting in quiet meditation for about ten minutes. The audience started cat-calling and complaining, yelling "play Lark's Tongues!!"
This went on for awhile, until everyone realized that Fripp was not going to start until they shut up!! He waited...and waited...it was so intense.
Then....I didn't even see a cue, they raised their hands to the fretboards in perfect unison...and eleven guitarists began together with no count ...no cue..
    The genius of it was

I was there also. I was taking photos during sound check and Fripp saw me. I noticed him call over security and he says something to them, next thing I know they are beside me asking for my film. I made up some crap story that I had photos of my son on the same roll and begged them to not take the film. After a bit of back and forth they let me keep the film but said they would be watching. If I were to so much as lift my Canon they would come back for it. I never took another shot but that’s ok, I already had 33 Exposure....I mean, exposures. And yes, that silence was strange.

He is notorious for taking people "out on the town for a show"...what you don't realize is he and the teachers have booked a show, found an audience and taken all the student's guitars to the venue. So you show up as a student thinking you're about to watch a concert with Robert Fripp when in reality YOU are the performer and no you must pull a 45 minute set out of your collective bums. Haha.
My class was lucky. We were given 24 hrs to plan, write, rehearse and perform a 45 minute set for Fripp, the teachers and the full League Of Crafty Guitarists. It was nerve-wracking! Also, Robert thoroughly enjoys yelling "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" very loudly at nervous people. Hahaha

After having watched this in its entirety of 1.54 minutes, I just realised how much I appreciate the clarity, pureness and sense of those simple but beautifully assembled chord and riff patterns of AC/DC, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, SRV, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Johnson and Eddie Van Halen.
Having said that, Fripp's guitar playing does have relevant uses - now that the death penalty has been abolished in most parts of the world - it would make excellent punishment for serial killers and convicted terrorists to listen to. Not many would be able to survive six doses per day of the 1.54 minutes of the notes played in this clip.
