Wow I bought some a year ago on an incredable sale at Michaels and wasn't sure how to use them. This is the best tutorial I have come across thus far. TYFS. Hugs!
I do not have Gelatos, didn’t think I needed Gelatos - until now. :). Loved the pink and yellow card. Trying hard not to impulse buy but you’re making it tough. Great techniques! All that was missing in this video was your smiling face. Have a great weekend!
I love your style…it reinforces that perfection isn’t needed, in fact, not trying to be exact results in a better project! Can’t wait to get my gesso delivery today!
From all the comments it looks like most of us set the gelatos aside for lack of knowing what to do with them. You can play with yours as much as you want sharing any clever and new techniques with us ... as for me I think I’ll have a go at them again. I really like the drip idea a lot and stamping the artsy flowers too with the edging. So cool.
Thank you so much! I have heard a lot of people say "hey, I have those and I had no idea what to do with them" just like you said. They really are a lot of fun. Just remember, GESSO!
Hi there, You are absolutely adorable! I love your voice and your energy , you've inspired me to want to jump up & go play with my gelatos, RIGHT NOW! Thanks so much for so many fun ideas. Seeing things thru someone else's eyes can be so enlightening & sparks that little " creativity flame" that sometimes gets lost under piles of, well.... , you know, life! Thanks again, look forward to checking out your other vids! Have a beautiful day!😊🌸🌼🌺
I really enjoyed this video. Like others who have commented, I have gelatos, but had no idea how versatile they are. Thank you for the tip about using gesso. Beautiful cards, Laurel. 😀
I have had my Gelatos hanging around for several years without any idea how to REALLY use them, so thank you very mush for your efforts and ideas. I see some projects in my future.
Thank you Laurel!! What a helpful video! I love the gelatos and I have quite a few of them! But wasn’t sure what exactly what to do! Thanks! You are soo cute! I love your commentary!!!
Thank you for your video. I was just about to give mine away because I don't use them. I love the method where you applied them to stamps to give a water colour look. I am trying that out today.
Thank you!! I've had my gelatos for a while and they are being neglected. I never thought to gesso the cardstock! It moved so great! I loved all these cards! I'm going home to gesso some cardstock!...in like 3 1/2 hours...gotta finish working. But i am pumped! 😃
Hello Laurel, new subscriber. I really enjoy this inspirational video. I have a few Gelatos that I have not use much. Now I cannot wait to make some cards. Thank you.
WOW Laurel, I thought I was very well acquainted with using my gelatos but you taught this old dog some new tricks. THey all turned out awesome. This was such a coincidence to see this tonight as I was on Amazon today when gelato's popped up in my recommendations and I almost got a new set of metallics but decided I better check and see if I had most of those colors in that set already or not. ANyway, they've been on my mind all day and now I can't wait to try out some of your techniques. Thanks so much.
New sub, and I am just loving your latest videos. Love your arty (not artsy :-), mixed media style- distressed, messy, organic and so refreshing in the card making world!
Very helpful; thank you! Like Bonnie, (ditto!) "I bought some a year ago on an incredible sale at Michaels and wasn't sure how to use them..." LOL. Totally the same but another year later.
Stupendous. Great ideas. Can't w sit to try them w my Gelatos. What was the clear book like thing u adhered the st apps to. So u could stamp over & over in the same spot. It looked like. A great tool. Jewell
Lové these techniques and your rested cards! WoWwww!!! Tfs, Lauren!!😘✨👍🏾 But just to clarify, you should not heat emboss your sentiments onto your gelato backgrounds, correct??!??
Did you spray all the papers in which you use just ask this is my first time seeing this and I think I will be buying this product. I did save this to relooking at it again
Thank you so much for these fun techniques! How do you stop your paper from buckling when you gesso it? And you then adhere the sheets you make to an actual card? Also, does the final product need to be sealed?
Great questions! I flatted it out with books usually, lol! Or a heat tool on the front of the back will usually do the sheet. Yes, I adhere them to a card base to make a card. A sealer spray from Krylon is what I use (amazon). Comes in gloss or matte finish!

Simply Cardmaking with Laurel Beard I’m presuming it’s putting gesso on 110pd cardstock?? Thanks!
@@dotalinadavis7557 any weight cardstock is fine! You don't need special cardstock for using gesso! So use what you have I say!

Thank you for the video! Great! I'm using card stock and am wondering how you keep it from curling. Mine does.
Thanks for sharing, is all of your cardstock prime with Gesso?

Yes you can!!!! In fact, I do most of the time! :)
Wow! Love your techniques with the gellato pencils. Are the Tim Holtz distress crayons the same thing as gellato pencils?
😍😍😍
great video! I need your help - I just got a yellow gelato 'Bright' on my top (despite my apron :( ) - how can I get it off? Thanks!
Thank helped alot

@@LaurelBeard Thank you for such a quick response!!
Are gelatos the same thing as watercolor crayons? Thank you.
If you mean the distress crayons, they are different. I find gelatos are much easier to blend and build on than the distress crayons.
