    Some sim racers talk about discomfort of wearing a VR headset.I guess they think that a real racer can jump in a racing car wearing a short and a T-shirt without a helmet and turn on the A/C!No G force to shake him up during the race.The racer should be as comfortable in the car as in his living room lol!

    I picked up PSVR2 specifically so I can use it with GT7 (with a full logitech racing wheel setup) and I've been using it every day for the past few weeks since it came out. It is an absolute game changer for racing games and I actually have faster times than I've ever had and I'm only getting faster. I've gotten P2 and P3 multiple times while racing in VR. I’m a PC VR sim racer for years by now, I can agree that you are faster with VR. and even if you’re not, the immersion is unbeatable of corse. As my oculus Rift is eol and I don’t want to spend again €3000 or more to upgrade my PC, I bought a PS5 and waiting on the PSVR 2 to arrive. Bought it mainly for GT7 and VR racing. So I hope the AI of GT7 won’t disappoint me. I presume it is by far not as good as AMS2 for example. But I hope a lot better than the FM7 AI.

      @@bullshark1152 The AI needs some work. On the harder races its not bad but on the lower levels its pretty weak. You get a whole new sense of depth with VR thats not possible with flatscreen. I have no problem to squeeze myself through a tight overtake or lick a butt millimeter behind an opponent in VR. Nothing I could manage safely on flat screen.

      I agree 100%! Hitting apex’s , following close to opponents it’s all easier in VR. And it’s very addictive. The consequences also almost feel real even though you know there not. The faint head haptics do more than I expected the more I play.

    • @vgaportauthority9932
      @vgaportauthority9932 Před rokem +6

      Drifting goes from tricky to intuitive in VR. It's just nuts how effective VR is, and anyone denying VR making you faster are straight up wrong. Argument I often hear is "if VR is faster, why aren't the pros using it?" Answer to that is: The pros drive like robots. They execute the same lap over and over and over and over forever, execution is ALL that matters when you have studied every millimeter of the track.. They know where the exact braking points are, how hard they need to brake, the RPM and which gear to be in and so on and so forth. There's so little left to perfect that VR or a motion rig does literally nothing for them.
      For you and me and 99% of simmers out there, VR is a benefit. Hell, even for the pros it's obviously better, but they're creatures of habit, and most of the time in pro events they have to use screens. So getting used to VR for those people is kind of a negative because they have to go back to screens during any live event.
      VR is the bees knees. Anyone who thinks it doesn't make them faster have NOT used VR much. VR makes everything better. I'm a better VRFPS player than I ever was as a flat FPS player, and I used to be pretty decent. The stuff I do in VR would just never happen on screen with any regularity. And much of it is literally impossible.. Threw a knife in a dude's face a while back while at the same time shooting his buddy to the left of me with my right hand pistol, like crossed in front of my chest... I'm like an octopus of slaughter in there.
      Flat games are pathetic to me at this point in time, have been since 2014 or so when I first got into VR. Everyone should be into VR... It's baffling that it's not the biggest thing ever yet. I guess people just wanted casual crap on a gamepad, and I thought people wanted hella immersion and interactivity.

    I commented already but I'll put more effort into it so people can actually understand. The first thing I noticed was that it allows you to look around the corner you are I. Or heading into. This makes it to where you can better place the car where you want it to go instead of hoping it's properly placed based you entered the turn. I feel like I use much more of the track than I did on the flat-screen. That's one way it makes you fast. It also makes racing in traffic 10 times better. You are able to give space and pass way easier because you can place the car just like you would in real life. On the screen you are relying on the radar and intuition. I've notice time and time again, I'm one of the people consistently making out of the first turn or grudges where it's going 3 wide. Before, I was alway crashing. Getting use to new tracks is much more seamless. Before I would be comfortable until about Wednesday and by that time the week is already half way done. Now I'm noticing that I'm use the the new weekly track enough to get in soort after about 20 laps. OHHHH and one of my favorite things is the improved counter steer. Before PSVR I WAS ALSI

      As someone who has been into VR since the DK2 back in 2014, I can say that although PSVR2 is not perfect, it absolutely is awesome. Don't expect perfection, that's never good. It's not like your TV is perfect, that thing has horrible reflections, shows 3D scenes on a 2D plane and it's often capped at 60fps and stuff like that. Compare that to VR and VR suddenly becomes a no brainer.
      Again, it's not perfect so don't expect that. Expect instead an amazing racing game in VR. The PSVR2 has the potential for great games in a way that the PSVR1 kinda couldn't get. GT7 is a current gen game running in VR awesomely. If this trend continues, we get some AAA games ported to VR like F1 and Ace Combat 8, PSVR2 is absolutely going to be worth owning.
      Rumors speak of another WipEout game in VR... WipEout Omega Collection on the PSVR1 is probably still one of my top5 favorite VR games. I hate WipEout on flat. Absolutely unplayable garbage. In VR it is phenomenal because the cars are actually controllable in VR... On a screen I just pingpong between rails all day long.

    I just started and actually did not enjoy sim racing at all prior to GT7 VR. GT7 in VR got me excited about the whole space and I bought a gt dd pro bundled with the fanatec csl pedals with load cell brake. Load cell brake has been huge in terms of improving braking (ie. trail braking with improved exit speeds). I definitely do better in VR vs. flat screen coming from someone that has just begun racing. I think the true 3d perspective with the wider FOV supported by the stereoscopic vision is incredibly helpful when judging braking distances for trail braking and when you will hit the apex for the turn. I always do worse in 2d since I haven’t been racing for years in 2d so I do think we’ll be seeing some folks start beating record times once they’ve had a few weeks or months to really get acquainted with the new VR perspective. It’s just great for getting a sense of elevation changes and distance.

    Are you an A+ driver racing top split? Because they are the ones who are saying it's slower. If you are motivated to improve, then I'm sure most people will improve to become their best. If the headset motivates you, then it will help you improve. But I think, for the top guys, at the top of the leaderboards, it's just a distraction.
    Plus, if you're racing all day, a flat screen is just more comfortable and less mentally draining.

      I understand where your coming from but I set these times just a few weeks before I tried them again in VR and with only a few days of VR driving under my belt.
      In my opinion over time those guys will change their mind , I might be wrong but I think there’s just no way in the long run this is slower. It’s so much easier to place the car and your awareness increases a ton. I think it’s just matter of committing to it.
      But yes your right about a streamer being more comfortable all day. That would be an issue. I can wear it for a few hours but probably not 8 hours straight.
      I don’t know if you have tried it yet but I promise it’s not just a distraction it’s definitely an advantage. If you get a chance to try it, I encourage you to give it a go but remember it’s just like switching views you will be a little slower at first but you will get your times back.

  • @n3rdstrength
    @n3rdstrength Před rokem +1

    I think I am just as fast sometimes faster, which is usually around 1 second off the top time in the world - this applies to GR3 and above. Road cars up to GR4, I am significantly faster in VR. I can really push much harder in VR with the added visual information in a road car. I have a leaderboard of cars I like around the nordschleife and I have been shattering those records the last two weeks. Sometimes by 10+ seconds.
    One big disadvantage is situational awareness when racing online. I'd love if they added arrows for cars around you, something like what ACC has. The radar isn't really usable in the heat of the moment. Also, it's been stated many times but, not having the race order information is crippling. Either way, I use VR exclusively for now and hope that they continue to improve it.
    Another benefit for me in VR is I warm up much faster and find myself not getting distracted like I do on a 2D screen. In VR I'm not thinking about my day at work, or shit I have to do around the house this weekend - I am completely consumed by the experience.

    I haven't played GT in months, just got my vr headset and beat my Suzuka circuit experience easily by about 0.5s on my first completed lap. Now this could just be because game physics changed and the car is faster now.. not sure yet. Need to put in more time to learn as it is more of a realistic learning curve. You gotta learn where to start to turn to hit the apex and how early you can get on the power. As usual, each corner finding the limit.

    Way faster in VR - it took a little adjustment but by the third day I was destroying all my track records and when I took it into the daily races, within one weekend I won about a dozen races and jumped from class D to class B (then I got humbled and my real lack of skill was exposed). I fell like I have more control when my rear end gets a little loose - and even take advantage of it at times. I have a much better, more nuanced feel in high speed turns. Anyway, winning a bunch of races in D and C was fun while it lasted, but definitely VR had made me significantly faster.

      It's far more effective in racing styles that are more dynamic, such as drifting or rallying. For just cranking out perfect lap times over and over, you can do that on a phone screen because it's all about them braking points and muscle memory. GT racing is all about smooth perfection, VR helps a bit, but not much if you've already perfected the circuit.
      Use it on drifting challenges and you'll see just how easy that suddenly gets. That's where depth perception and stuff comes into play in a HUGE way.

    Vr will make you faster in a sim tittle, i haven't pulled the trigger on PSVR2 headset yet because i want to see what performance is like with that PC box Sony is releasing by AUG but on iracing and ACC on PC, VR helped me get faster, then I tried just a logi cam and open track app to see if i can be as fast with it just like VR.
    The answer is yes, and the reason is that once you get that sense of speed locked in your brain, the ability to look into the apex or into the exit of a high-speed corner, you naturally know how much and how smooth of the steer you need, the throttling in long corner to exit is the next thing to work on. All in all VR and head tracking will both help you get faster.
    I would love if GT7 just went in and allowed camera headtracking and an in game sound telemetry for base shakers.
    I ran with my sim hub with GT7 on my rigs base shakers, and it's not really 100% all there, hell its not even 80%😅 but i did take notice just getting a hint of when the back wheels are on a rumble strip or when your rear tires start to lock up, its extra info to help preventing a mistake or capitalizing when you memorize how the cars behave on what track and how hard of a drive you give it.
    The PS5 and GT7 are both more then capable of allowing this tech to be used but im starting to see what ppl complain about PD being just to slow on making the right moves.
    I've run all the Sims on pc Man. I even have a Rennsport key in my email, but I really wanted to give GT7 a try, so i bought a PS5 just for that.
    Dude... this is 100% a racing game or sim lol w.e the point is, the pc guys are missing out on this beautiful game man and sony and PD are missing out on way more business because they decided to go down the greedy path and lock certain wheel bases from being used.
    On the Fanatec side, they should of just left it with the security chips in the wheels and not the base.
    Not a lot of ppl are gonna just buy a ps5 for GT7 and more of them arent going to "upgrade" their wheel base for GT7 too.
    Mistakes were made and seems like are still being made.

    Is funny how I was in a Discord call and the main debate was an ignorant piece shit and some guy arguing how VR wasn’t necessary. Like it’s true, VR Isn’t necessarily needed. But, VR is way faster than flat screen, even if is 3 screen, you’re going to be faster in VR. First, In Vr you will not just feel Understeer or oversteer through your wheel, you will actually see it happening early on since you’re in the cockpit and the movement of your VR Isn’t completely anchored to the game, while flatscreen is. In addition, when you’re in flat screen and you’re over steering most of the times you will have to do snap correction since you do not feel it in time. On the other hand, you see it happening and you also feel it through your wheel making you a sharper driver and therefore faster

It's not because the new view is slower, it's because they're not used to it, so the timings are off. Most top split drivers agree that you can be faster in VR... in time trail. Its when you get on track with 15 other A+ drivers who have a greater sense of spatial awareness because they are in bumper cam that makes the difference. You can be faster in TT but not race conditions. Make a video proving that and I'll be impressed.

    • @martinsimracing1255
      @martinsimracing1255  Před rokem +1

      I’ll consider that a challenge. I definitely understand your point because in bumper cam which is what I was using before you are like right on the track but on the other hand without proof just my gut feeling is that I personally have so much more awareness of my surroundings and car placement in VR along with being able to ride close to the edge of walls and such.
      Also a lot of A+ high caliber drivers are using hood cam because they want to be able to place the car in tight spots without incident and feel like they can take their lines better in that view. Because of the visual of the car.
      I feel like VR gives us everything and that’s not even considering the elevation changes you experience.

    i am a lot faster in VR. I am the casual player, of the gt franchise for years. I got the PSVR2 to play GT7 because we can´t get triple screens on console. I can tell you that i have gone over all the lincençes and tracks, and i have beaten every record within in a cuple off laps. Its as if my past best eford was nothing.

    Pros & Cons. The thing I struggle with is knowing if ABS or TC is engaged.
    I don't know if Logitech DD Pro with its TRUEFORCE sound effects would give more of a clue than my G29

      Bumper cam shows the pedal levels (0-100%); VR view doesn't

      Yeah
      Yeah I know what you mean about not seeing brake and gas inputs.
      With traction control are talking about how you can change the setting from 0-5 or are you talking about something else like when it flashes on the Hud?
      I think in VR your just getting whatever the real car gives you on it’s dash and such but I’m not sure.
      I just can’t go back to bumper cam after this. My racing ability is more constant and my pace is overall slightly better and for me I seem to able to get competitive times with les practice.
      I’m not racing on sport mode on my main account until the official World Series because I’m barely A and I want to race in GT1 just to say I did kind of like a personnel goal.
      They say the Logitech direct drive is the best feedback with GT7 but I’m committed to the fanatec ecosystem and I love it so I guess I will never no lol

    Improvement vr for sim racing is as big as downgrade of driving real car one eye shut and head fixed to forward. I have tried that and it is super akward. Why drive one eye shut when can keep both open, driving one eye shut isn't faster.

    I just don't think it's worth the average punter spending well over a grand on a PS5 a VR2 a copy of GT7 and a decent wheel and pedal set up, and even if you only need the PSVR 2 it's still 550 bucks for an incremental improvement in lap time for the better than average player's.🤔

    • @darrensharpe3345
      @darrensharpe3345 Před rokem

      I could get a real car for 1000-2000 bucks and it'll be much more realistic than GT7 in PSVR 2.🤣

    • @martinsimracing1255
      @martinsimracing1255  Před rokem

      I don’t think it’s worth just for lap time improvement. However I honestly do think it’s worth it when considering the experience that VR provides. The PSVR2 system provides an experience that would cost you triple or more on PC so I think it’s a good value. But some people don’t like VR for various reasons. So it can be subjective.

      @@martinsimracing1255 it's not worth it to the average punter at current prices during a global financial crisis tbf...... did you already have the wheel/ pedals ps5 and the rig to put it in?
      If you did have those thing's already it's doable, but if someone doesn't have those thing's already would you seriously recommend they spend well over a grand getting on 2 grand if they want a decent wheel set and rig to put it all in just so they can experience GT7 in VR2?
      I've had GT7 since launch it's a boring crap game when played on flat screens and I think once the gimmick of VR2 wears off I'd be straight up bored of the game again...... when I see the price Sony asked for PSVR 2, I decided F U Sony and got myself a series X to add to my collection.
      A bit of a daft one by Sony if I'm honest, they generally aim themselves at the casuals, but have decided to price most casual gamers out of being interested in it.... but hey that's the anti-consumer Sony we've been lumbered with this generation unfortunately.
      You can spend more on a PC set up, but if you do it'll be more powerful than a ps5 and it's an open platform next to playstation so you have a lot more choices and a broader range of community support..👍🏻
      If I considered spending a couple of grand on a decent set for racing in GT7 in VR2, I would only end updeciding to not bother with ps5 and VR2 and put another grad or two to it and build a proper rig.👍🏻

      Another way of looking at it, is having to spend at least £500 on PSVR 2 to make GT7 interesting.😁

      I hope they implement some additional feature in the near future like FOV adjustment. For the time being I have learned how to get around it by moving my head back and down when holding the options button then that places me higher and closer once I sit where I normally do. But I would prefer FOV adjustment in game.
