Stevie was the best electric guitar player ever IMHO, and he worked his ass off to get there and started at seven years old, he loved the blues, he lived the blues and every time he got on stage it was all or nothing, even sound check is impressive when it's Stevie doing it. Happy to see his legendary status continue to grow as people continue to be amazed after all these years. Like I've said for years, for a little guy he sure makes a big impression
What really shows how much of a genuine down to earth good guy Stevie was. is when he,s on stage with his old blues guitar hero,s. He steps back and takes his foot off the gass out of respect if he wanted to he could make any guitarist look ordinary
I so wish the camera men of Hendrix's day knew where to put the camera! It was a thing back then that camera operators were literally told " they were the artists " and that anybody could just point the camera but it took an " artist " to work it. The results were no visuals of master guitarists not being seen half the time! Glenn P.S. With Ray Vaughn, the camera work was flawless.
I second "Life Without You" at Capitol Theatre. SRV has blown my mind since I first heard him, and that's easily one of his best live performances. Convinced me to buy a guitar a week after hearing his music, and I've fallen into the rabbit hole since. Solid reactions
No one can entertain and perform like Stevie Ray Vaughan on any given night..the stage is the place to let go and stampede the electric guitar with all Stevie's band members playing along with him..a music legend and a producer of his own songs ..rhythm and melody and lyrics are great with the drums in the background echoing out..great beat..Stevie is a great singer and tremendous on guitar..That electric guitar knows every string that is about to be strummed and its loud to satisfaction..Stevie is so humble and a great musician to play with..RIP legend
Enjoyed your niece's reaction to SRV. Being from Austin I was fortunate to have seen Stevie Ray several times back in the day. I worked in the concert business for 23 years, and was lucky to meet him backstage at a Prince concert on the Purple Rain tour. He was extremely gracious. This show was recorded for Austin City Limits on PBS, the longest running music show in American television history. It was recorded at the old ACL studio in the Communications Building on campus at the University of Texas. If you want to see another phenomenal performance from this show, definitely check out "Tightrope"!!!
So awesome - a new convert! Speechless is pretty much the most normal reaction everyone has when first witnessing Stevie Ray. I am guessing you are thinking of going right to the gold down in El Mocambo and why not - it changed my entire life when I saw it. That was a fun reaction, ya'll be good.
Sometimes when i re-watch some piece of music or performance that it is just great or too much for this world i just can´t help it and just I cry... This video did that for me - thanks for the No Pause Reactions. Love the reactions btw. All the love for you from Lima-Peru
And..most of the time this was done with 13gauge strings! CABLES! Cant hear this enuff. Along with (texas flood) wow! Srv was the man!! Rip! Too much talent in one man.. thank GOD! For us! Lov how she reacted to this. Glad the young gen can hear this! Dan. North fl -3/21/22.
Stevie was the G.O.A.T. of G.O.A.T.s He was born to play the Stratocaster. There are many that can play him note for note. There are none that I have encountered that can even come close to matching his sheer intensity and stamina. He played like his life depended on it and losing my hero when I was 21 was such a visceral punch to the gut, that I will never forget it. Hearing the lightning bolt that he was for the first time in that summer of 83 on a battery powered transistor radio with one speaker, woke me up to the blues and changed my life forever
Thanks for presenting this and reaction. Of course, “Voodoo Child” is Jimi Hendrix’ genius creation; but, a master guitarist like SRV is worthy of making it his own-a distinct and energetic version. My favorite song “Mary Had A Little Lamb” performed at this same show( Austin, TX, 1989) Perhaps you may present SRV classic blues performance at an intimate venue (‘Texas Flood’ at El Mocambo)
@@verisimilitudeteller Must have been a bit of Jimi's voodoo spirit left in the wah-wah pedal to result in such an iconic, enjoyable, flash-back rock session as this one. RIP Jimi & SRV!!!
Great reaction, SRV has to be one of the top 5 blues guitarist. He had played with the best and learned that no matter what type of blues you hear, you have to go out and make your bones. RIP
Great introduction for your niece👏🙌💯 While this performance is great, and it is, his Toyko performance of this song is the most fun, creative, free flowing, and 15 minutes long! You owe it to both of yourselves to watch that as well even if you don't react. That is one of the great things about Stevie's playing is that he never plays the same song the same way ever. I don't consider Voodoo Child a "blues" song Stevie is known for his 💙🎸🎶💯. Texas Flood, Tin Pan Alley, etc. glad to hear you will do another one next week. I will be watching for it.👏🙌✌️
Texas Flood at the Mocambo or Life Without You which this has his best si nging my favorite solo and message this from the Capitol theatre in in Passaic NJ
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 THE goat of all goats! Want you mind blown? Check these SRV vids: **Texas Flood at El Macambo** **Life Without You at Capitol Theater ** **Voodoo Child at Starwood Theater in Nashville**
If your ears can keep from getting wrapped up in and warped by SRV's man-handling of the notes, pay attention to the artistry of Tommy Shannon on bass (ex-Johnny Winter) and drummer Chris Layton (the two men who constitute "Double Trouble") -- with them, the song reaches another quantum level of enjoyment and awesomeness.
Ok! Ya got me! I just subscribed! Lol Stevie Ray is my all time favorite! I love love love the No Pause Reactions!!! Now I have to go through your videos and see the rest!!! Thank you so much for doing it this way!!! Loved your niece's reaction too!!
You're welcome. That's exactly why I don't pause. The downside is not being able to monetize them, but the brand is bigger than the dollar. Thanks for the support.
The most common guitar string is 8 gauge , some play with 10 gauge , Stevie Ray played with 13 gauge strings.....unheard of by most standards...good reaction
Interesting note: SRV and Bruce Lee were both part of a clinical analysis by University doctors, microbiologists, all them fuckers... and when reacting (lee) and improvising (Vaughan), the respective parts of their bodies, surpassed the universally accepted neurological speed limit of nerve signals of ~265-280 miles per hour (mph used here for context), by quite a bit - with Lee's at ~ 432 mph (avg. high), and Vaughan's at ~419 to 435 mph (avg. high). Though, single instances of both, then deemed abortions, were clocked between 650 and 690 (mph), (5 of those occurrences for Lee, 6 (with a possible 7th) for Vaughan). - In my opinion, as a long time admirer of both, this seems well reasonable. Thought I'd share with the fans.
Anyone notice him flipping switches and adjusting his volume and tone, and his foot pedals and wha pedal while playing all that. Its for the changes in tone. He was an amazing performer.
Kara your a sweetheart. Sooo glad that youngsters have got an opened mind, peace from England ✌️ ps same gig and you must listen to look at little sister.........his string breaks and he don't miss a beat
Just wait till you see LIFE WITHOUT YOU 9/21/1985...the Greatest concert I ever went to My 5th time seeing SRV and that show was my 16th Birthday 2nd row center stage Capitol Theatre NJ
Stevie had very large strong hands and he used the heaviest strings he could find on his guitar. That makes what he does on the guitar even more impressive. What an unreal talent
SRV,......A great artists that happened to be born with a talent to play the ax. It wasn't effortless. It was deliberately inventive most nights. He consciously tried to play songs differently all the time. Challenging himself to give the listener's or audience a special experience. When you watch or listen to his live stuff it's rarely played the same way twice. A master of melody, rhythm and chords. Endless progressions instantly called on when his mood flowed during the song. A feel player. Long strong fingers that could probably crack walnuts with a pinch....lol.
For another amazing guitar performance should check out Tina S. performing Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata's "3rd Movement" on electric guitar, your minds will be blown!
For SRV the guitar was simply another body part and somehow he just channeled his emotional creativity through it. Most of us are good at something and once in a while we get into a groove or a zone and we come away with that wonderful feeling of having nailed it. Stevie Ray Vaughan took that to a level few rock guitarists ever get to, at least to that level of just "feeling" it. Stevie did an album with his brother Jimmy called "Family Style" and the first track is called "Hard to Be" (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Doyle Bramhall). At the very beginning, we hear Stevie quipping, "Roll 'em and I'll just feel something" meaning he may not have worked out yet what his solo would be but it didn't matter, he'd wing it on his own when the time came for it (2:20), and of course it was awesome and I'm willing to bet it was done in one take too. czcams.com/video/mYLGcymAXN4/video.html
Texas Flood Live at El Morcambo is singularly the greatest piece of blues guitar virtuosity that has ever been witnessed. More than Life Without You , IMO.

I've watched some of the greatest guitarists play "Voodoo Child'' and I have yet to see anybody do it as well as SRV!!!
The wah-wah pedal he's using in this was given to him by Jimi Hendrix' father, the same one Jimi used in the original recording of this song.
