P1345 Chevy 5.7L-PART 1- Cam/ Crank Correlation

- This is a video for the trouble code P1345 (cam shaft to crankshaft correlation issue). When you have this code you need a scan tool that will show you the CMP (camshaft) RETARD ° reading. You need to be able to see this reading in order to set it at 0 + or - 2 degrees.
MAKE SURE ONCE YOU CHANGE THE DISTRIBUTOR POSITION, YOU REV THE ENGINE UP PAST 1000 RPM IN ORDER FOR THE READING TO REPOPULATE.

🗣CAN I HOLD YOUR SNAP ON??😂😂😂
What happens when the computer correlation says -0.6 degree but still runs rough and gives p1345 time correlation code?
I have this code and when I step on the gas pedal it doesn’t respond like it should and then pops/studders ?
One tooth over in which direction?
So is it off timing
I got this code in my 99 suburban, and my suburban runs fantastic! I don't have any issues whatsoever, so I'm really at a loss to figure out why I need to get in there and change this just because I'm throwing a code . Any comments?
What if you can’t move it one tooth
another but somewhat rare cause is the the trigger wheel keyway becoming wider i don't know how it happens but it happened to me
That older Chevy V8 engine uses the same protocol as my LS1 engine (SAE J1850 VPW) & I've been having trouble finding a scanner that scans it as they have only read the CAN OBD2 system.
Has anyone got an idea what scanner I should order next for my car if the Nexpeak I've ordered so doesn't work ?
Snap on
I have an innova scanner and on live data all i can find is spark advance showing a -20. I tried fixing it by dropping in distributor with harmonic balancer set before tdc and changed from neg 20 to neg 30. So i did it again with harmonic balancer past tdc and then it wouldn't start. So i set everything back to where i had it before and truck cranks right up but i still have neg 20 spark advance
The spark advance reading is what the computer is trying to do as electronic advance. Try looking at the other PID lists for the retard reading.
You will get as much as 25 degrees out reading from the common problem of the distributor gear being worn. Also, some new distributors came with Gears put on 180 degrees out because they were assembled wrong in ...China? You can move the gear as it has a slot pin.
Yeah..... trying to get that distributor back in and on the oil pump drive after you rotate it is a pain in the butt.
So what was it doing that caused the code to come up???
Customer did his own distributor install and ended up getting the code.
Skyhook Studios oooh ok i see now
Do you know the oms that the sensor should read, hot and cold?
My 96 1500 with the Vortec 350 is completely factory and it allows distributor timing
Would I have a hard start if its not set at 0?
David Nguyen I’m curious myself. Having same issues
@@stuart8277 replaced cap & rotar and had to turn a couple degrees. Runs great now at 450,000 miles
it should have a different hold down bracket. it can be adjusted to align cap n rotor. I own one been through it.
The hold down bracket and distributor are squared to prevent the distributor from turning. GM did not intend for it to be adjustable. With advances in electronic ignition timing, adjustable distributors went by the wayside. Then gone entirely shortly thereafter.

where's part 2
Hatertron it's coming
Can the p1345 code cause stalling at idle on 99 Yukon. Thats the only code I have. But once started it runs for about 5 secs. the dies. Can barely give it gas if at all.
No, that code is a running code. The 5 seconds then dies might be a fuel issue. If you removed the distributor, check that you have oil pressure. If the computer doesn't see oil pressure, you will only get a few seconds of run time before dieing.
@@SkyhookStudios how to check oil pressure. Cant keep the truck running
@@keys2.0 does it show any pressure on the dash? Also, if you remove the pressure sensor and hook a gauge up, you should show around 15psi just cranking.
@@SkyhookStudios spoke with person who i bought truck from, he says distributor was never removed. So I assume its in the right place. Oil pressure appears to be normal. 14-16 lbs.
@@SkyhookStudios maybe swap out fuel pump again?
Why can't I get the code to go away even at 0 degrees and flashing codes and taking battery cables off/on
