- Here it is! The GM G-Body car collection from 1981-1986. Shown here are some of the rare times they were offered as high dollar car offerings mainly in showcases, Hole in One, or 5 digit Any Number. In addition, some of the best selling cars during the early 80s, so if you grew up during that time there was a good chance there was one in your driveway or you knew someone who owned one. As far as I know. TPIR never offered the $20k+ Grand National or GNX.
One of my all-time favorite cars. I just have to say it right now. Whether it is a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, a Buick Regal, a Pontiac Grand Prix, or an Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme , the GM G-Bodies have probably the cleanest styling of any car that GM ever built. They spoke of sheer class, elegance, flair, & luxury without being ostentatious or over-the-top.
I'm glad you enjoyed this video.
Wow they gave away a Grand Prix Aero coupe. Super rare, they only made them for 1 year (1986?) and I believe there were only around 1500 built.
Beautiful cars !! I loved the 2 door G bodies.. and owned one in the 80's. GM's best cars in style/looks.
The 1980's cars look Great but so do "Barker's Beauties", especially Dian and Holly!
"It's a NEW CAR !!!!" - Makes me happy every time I hear that.
The Cutlass Supremes featured here were nice, but man that 2nd Monte was just beautiful! Those G bodies really held their own in the 80s. If it weren't any of these most folks were driving then it would have been the Georgeous 85 ish Riviera.
This is a hoot to see these beauties especially since you tend to forget about these cars because of all the imported cars on the show!!!
I had a 77 Monte Carlo. My grandfather handed it down to my brother, then my brother gave it to me. Before it died it had over 250k miles.
They were maybe the best looking cars in all of GM's history. By the 80's those models were leaning more towards luxury and GM hit it out of the park.
Your videos always make my day, I hope one day maybe you could do a thunderbird/cougar episode one day. Have a good one
I've thought about a T-Bird/Cougar collage but they were actually offered quite frequently and predictably especially in the early to mid 90s. I haven't saved the clips because I try to do lesser seen car offerings.
4:37 is the only time I've heard "Splendido (Nothing But Furniture)" in a non-furniture showcase.
I hope to see some Oldsmobile cars on here soon! 🥰
"It's got these options! California emissions..."
I see you managed to include some Cutlass Supremes here. Even in these days, were Oldsmobiles rather uncommon on the show?
Look at the cord on that car phone!
You should do a Corvette video.
Anyone else want to yell GTF OFF THE CAR!!!!😂
The interchangeability of the G bodies by this time shows why GM started to lose the mid sized two door market segment. Aside from trim, they are clones. They were nice for the times but doggone they are the same.
See my other video of a 1986 Lincoln commercial that pokes fun at this exact thing.
Do they still make cars like the ones we see here?
G Body production ended about 35 years ago if that's what your question is.
😂 I wish
Damm Right I had my share of G Bodies
