Mainly because I’m insanely introverted and Japan has a lot more to offer someone like me than the US where everyone expects you to be positive and outgoing. No hugging in Japan. Cool. I don’t even want to be touched. I heard about restaurants in Japan where there’s minimal human interaction. You sit at a private booth, make your order, and the food comes out through a little door. Sounds like heaven to me. I might stick out for the color of my skin but as long as I don’t get assaulted for it or harassed like in the US then I don’t mind dealing with dirty looks. The only reason I don’t go other than not having money is because I don’t speak the language at all and I feel like it would be disrespectful to move to another country and not know the language at least. I do respect their culture however and if I learn more Japanese I would consider moving there.
this is honestly so refreshing to watch. i also came from another country and move to germany, living in my own apartment, 20 mins to frankfurt by train. im here for 5 years now and if i will think about 5 years ago, being here, living on my own, even having my own apartment is just crazy and is like almost impossible to happen. we should be thankful, we have this exciting life ahead of us :)

I’ve been here for awhile and that feeling has died down a bit, but I shouldn’t take living here for granted and still feel thankful/excited to be here. Your apartment looks great, my rent is around the same price but might be a little smaller. I kind of wish I went with a loft apartment because the high ceiling makes the space feel bigger 🤔 Have a great 2023! 🎉

The desk area is probably my favorite thing you did with the space. I do everything at my computer anyways and a lot of the "small tokyo apartment" tours I see on youtube, nobody really has a proper desk for multiple monitors or a tower, which is something I wouldn't be able to sacrifice. I'm planning to move to Japan for a year after I finish my degree (Summer 2024) so I've been watching a lot of these small affordable apartment tours :D You did A LOT with the space and I'm honestly pretty impressed. I have a lot less clothes so I probably wouldn't need the second hanging area. The bathroom wallpaper is pretty cringe, also I'd be a bit sad not to have a bidet toilet like most of the newer places. One thing I'd personally change in your setup, is find another place for the trashcans. I'd feel so closterphobic coming in with them in the genkan behind the door. But that's just me. The space seems to really work for you :)

That's a great apartment! Since you asked for suggestions, if you can, remove whatever you don't need or use and free up some space. It's always great to have some breathing room and in a small space, minimal stuff is the way to go.

Hi, you're so amazing you did an awesome job showing ur apt. Okay, visualize my rearrangement, ok 😎 I'd say where ur coat rack is put up in the corner up in the loft bcuz ur not going to wear all those jackets only a certain time a yr. No1 will be going up there. U can squeeze the cushion chair between the bed and corner of jackets, perhaps use a long dresser to put those in. So now u have space to actually put your L shape desk in that corner and replace the chair with a much slimmmer chair 🤔Take the sofa put in the area where ur desk used to be🤗 also you don't need curtain but if u want try to use then put pop up colors to brighten ur apt. also perhaps using the open edge space on your loft to probably put a long cabinet and use it for ur storage basket.its like a divider u can find at ikea actually u get most idea at ikea. Also, get rid of that hugh cat liter, and in that space, mount the TV on that wall. Find a solid wooden bench and put ur shoe rack on top and slide cat liter underneath the bench. ull have much more space, and it'll look much more neat.😢 I know ur saying she's insane for thinking it'll worked but I know it will u just have to size up each area.😅 Also just do a apt plan with my idea on computer or a sheet to see how it'd look. lol I'm sound so intrusive, but u asked, and I've lived in a space as urs and I'm also designer. U can’t even rent a ROOM with no private bathroom for TRIPLE THE PRICE in Los Angeles or New York places that’s WAY BIGGER. It’s crazy how rent and housing became a joke it cost more than most people monthly salary to rent a small apartment in other countries
