Quintessential Canadian Rockers April Wine to be inducted to Canadian Music Hall of FameThe Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) is pleased to announce the induction of hard-rock band, April Wine, to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. In 2009, the group marked its 40th anniversary a celebrated span of time that has produced an impressive repertoire of hits among its 16 studio albums all which have surpassed gold status. April Wine will receive their honour at THE 2010 JUNO AWARDS in St. Johns, Newfoundland and Labrador, on Sunday, April 18th during CTVs live broadcast.
April Wine formed in late 1969 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, but vocalist/guitarist Myles Goodwyn, guitarist David Henman, drummer Ritchie Henman and bassist Jimmy Henman soon moved to Montreal. "Fast Train," their first hit, appeared in 1971, the same year as the self-titled debut album. Jimmy Henman left soon after and was replaced by Jimmy Clench. The next year brought the band's first Canadian number one single, "You Could Have Been a Lady," from On Record. David and Ritchie Henman left before the next album, Electric Jewels, could be recorded; they were replaced by Jerry Mercer and Gary Moffet. After April Wine Live (1974) and Stand Back (1975), Steve Lang replaced Clench, who left to join Bachman-Turner Overdrive and later Loverboy. In 1976, The Whole World's Goin' Crazy became the first Canadian album to go platinum and their resulting tour was the first to gross one million dollars. Forever for Now appeared in 1976, followed by April Wine Live at the El Mocambo in 1977. Guitarist Brian Greenway was added that same year, making the band a sextet. After 1978's First Glance and 1979's Harder...Faster, "Just Between You and Me" became April Wine's biggest U.S. hit. The single (one of three Top 40 American singles by the band) propelled 1981's Nature of the Beast to platinum-record status. Power Play followed in 1982, and 1984's Animal Grace was their last album. Myles Goodwyn recorded his first self titled solo album in 1988. Four years later, all the original members joined for a Canadian tour, which convinced them to resume recording. "If You Believe in Me," the band's first single in eight years, was followed by 1993's Attitude. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide - Hudba
Anyone here in 2024? Jammed this non-stop back in my demented youth. Now at 60 years old it brings it all back like it was just yesterday... I like it you like it.. I LIKE TO ROCK. RIP Miles, and thanks very much to April Wine for being a part of my life all these years.
61 here - Yeah, I hadn't listened to these guys in YEARS, but this brought me right back to '81. Great guitar band. I used to love these guys. Cheers from another old rocker!
@@johnathandavis3693 We were lucky to have the greatest music in the world to grow up to weren't we? Look at the world today.. Now go listen to "She's a Roller"!!
🐺🎧🤟
This looks like it was recorded at Les Studio/Morin Heights!(?)
I am STILL here, cuz I LIKE TO ROCK!
I've never seen a band more underrated than April Wine.
RIP Myles Goodwyn.
Hey you young whippersnapper, I'm 66 and rock this every day, and real loud so my neighbors can enjoy it as well. Rock on Brother!
I play it almost every day on my music catalogue. I'm 58. Still a pup!
RIP Myles Goodwyn, lead singer. What a voice! Classic rock? More like timeless. Their songs give the vibe of youthful exuberance no matter what era you grew up in. Thanks for the music you left us. Gonna crank it up all day today in your memory Myles.
I just covered Myles,
But, I'm a solo guy.
I didn't know he passed....
Good song, bring back memories from Montreal days
dude had it goin on for sure... long live his music...RIP
Prayers for his family, friends, band and fans. One of my favorite bands.
High School 1980, feathered hair chicks and tight 501 jeans, hot rods in the parking lot and jams like this.... ahhh shit those were awesome days 🤘🏼
I was only 6 in 80 not far behind u though im a hair band guy 👍
Doing burn outs in the high school parking lot. Digging holes with that 396 big block and positrac rear end. 1969 Chevy Impala Custom Coupe 2 door was my very first car and I bought it for $300. Drove that bad boy home from the DMV the day of my 16th birthday listening to this band. Minimum wage was $2.85 at that time, so that car represented a lot of cleared tables and dishes washed at my first job. I started at age 14 and my mom made me save half of every paycheck in our parish credit union. Sure wish I still had that beauty!
81 for me brother.... We grew up at the best time... Now the US is turning to shit.. ROCK ON......
Right? All i know is that I went to see both bands and of course Rush every chance I had!
RUSH , TRIUMPH and APRIL WINE . The Canadian triumvirate of music policy abroad.
For all you youngsters out there...this is rock n roll !! 👊💥
I'm a youngster! At least I was in the 70's. OK I guess now I am just immature. But I still "Like to Rock"
I look at it this way, better late than never
Dude; this is DEFINITELY THE EPITOME OF ROCK & ROLL!!!!!! I SALUTE MY CANADIAN BROTHERS APRIL WINE!!!!! BC THEY KEEP IT REAL & DON'T FUCK AROUND!!!!! Another song from April Wine that I highly recommend; CRASH & BURN (from 1981's "The Nature Of The Beast"). That song's THE BIRTH OF THRASH METAL!!!!!

Me and my buddy Ernie used to build snow forts in his back yard. Bring in an extension cord, a portable LP player and sit in the fort smoking his parents cigarettes and listening to Harder Faster. I was 10, now 54... absolutely love April Wine....always will. Canada Proud. The Great White North.
Me and my buddy did the same thing. We called it "camping out " but it was an excuse so we could smoke and sneak around the neighborhood. Except, we built our fort out of bedsheets. There wasn't much snow in Houston, Texas, haha.
Rocking to April Wine at 16 years old in my first car!!!! Rocking in North Carolina on the way to the beach! 1977 best music ever!
Who knows, we might've crossed paths but never realized! Born and raised in MB, well that is if you're referring to MB.
Most underated Canadian band ever.

Well there's the "underrated" comment
Absolutely agree, I could never understand why they didn’t get the love they deserved here in America. I sure loved em. Ran out and bought the tape as son as it came out.❤

Canada never forgot, awesome tributes on Canadian news.
Journey to the stars, rock n roll guitars, I think they did alright considering they lived in the shadow of Rush their whole career 🙂🙂Rock em out up there Myles, I think I hear you now.
One of many underrated, and quite honestly the best Canadian band in my opinion. Even over Rush.
Didn’t april wine have like 3 or 4 lead guitarist’s in the band.
If so, it sure shows, they are incredibly off the chain. Wow !!!!❤
@@Shann300 Actually I believe it was only 2 guitarists in the band at any one time, Brian Greenway, and Myles Goodwyn, I can't find anything that states Brian is the lead guitarist, I kinda think Myles was the lead guitarist, and Brian the Rhythm Guitarist? but not for sure. but if you watch this video again, it's showing 3 guitarists plus the bass player, not sure of the other ones name? I just did some more research and I think the 3rd guitarist in this video was a guy named Gary Moffet.
one of the most underrated bands of all time. they are amazing.
I'm 53 almost 54 and glad I grew up in the era that I did. Old enough to remember great classic rock songs like this!!

A very underrated band from Canada which didn't get enough airtime.
Canadian rock band formed in 1969 and based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. There are a lot of problems with that sentence if your aim is to be in a famous rock band.
Same video location at Rush Tom Sawyer...A Canadian rock band that also didn't get enough air time.
For sure

17 year old April Wine enjoyer here who likes to rock. Can't be arsed with the new wave of music, all sounds the same and isn't original. I sure missed out being able to live in the '70's & '80s, so jealous of you all!

April Wine = GREAT contributors to the 1970s rock-n-roll music soundtrack and culture. RIP Myles Goodwyn!!
RIP Myles...such a great rock and roll songwriter! This record's a killer!!!
Low key the funniest moment from Trailer Park Boys - when Ricky tells the guy from Rush he loves their song I Like to Rock
Ya.. funny shit
" play that diane Sawyer song"
Lerxst is the man!
Yeah, Ricky made a mistake with the April Wine, “I Like To Rock””, but he made up for it by asking Alex to play that “Diane Sawyer” song. That must be off their “Motion Pictures” album. (purposeful mistake)
Alex Lifeson is a great sport. All the guys in Rush have a great sense of humor (RIP Professor). Alex did play a little bit of that “Diane Sawyer” song of their’s though. That was nice of Ricky to give Alex a buck thirty six for cab fare, even if Lifeson had to pick it up off the ground.
He did call Alex a drunk male prostitute, but Alex called him a kidnapper, so that’s only fair. There is a big difference between borrowing someone and kidnapping them. I’m not sure what it is, but Ricky told me there was. It isn’t Ricky’s fault that Alex is one of those big rockstar, living in his little dreamworld, playing his big fucking guitar. He should be used to this stuff, he is in a rock band you know?
Just like Ricky pointed out before flipping Alex the finger, “he started it!”. Alex did start it all when he said, “I’m not a ticket agency!.” What kind of answer is that? Ricky even gave him the option of doing it the easy way or the hard way. It’s not Ricky’s fault that Alex chose the hard way. Ricky was ready with the duct tape though, because Ricky had heard that Lifeson was one of those rock stars that aren’t very approachable.
I love Rush. They not only make some of the best music ever, but they all were down to earth people, with no big egos. That’s why they were able to stay together for so many decades as friends, not just band mates. How many rock groups can say that?
Lifeson really helped make this skit funny and played some of that “Diane Sawyer” song. I really like that song. I’ve seen them play that in concerts many times, but I have never actually seen Diane Sawyer at any of the concerts?
“That’s April wine” :)
I honestly had to come find the song because of Ricky saying that. This episode is maybe one of the funniest of all the seasons. Buying weed from the cops, hitting the column while backing out, giving a shit about the damage to his car missing a door ☠️☠️☠️
Im not giving anyone an "R"
Great musicians playing great music.
Zero violence or trashing anyone.
Amen brotha
Gary. Steve and Brian went to my high school in Montreal. I graduated 20 years later but what an honor to have those guys as alumni.
R.I.P. Myles. Very underrated singer, songwriter, and front man. So glad I got to see them live. They were VERY impressive as a live band.
For those who grew in the 70's like me near Woodstock New Brunswick Canada, these are the guys who played most every High School Prom that had a live band. I miss those days when there was a sense of normality on this planet.
Amen to that yes me to, they rocked
You mean like Vietnam, and Richards Nixons war on drugs etc.lol.
The people that are the age now, that we were then, live in the world's normal. Our parents didn't feel like the world was normal in the 70's and 80's. Food for thought...
@@Sherspirit 👍. I definitely don’t feel like the USA is normal now; slipping into Fascism~one GQP state at a time.
@@KittyGrizGriz hopefully enough of us will rise to right that particular boat. I definitely hear you. My parents lived through the great depression, WWII, and everything that came after. My grandparents, two world wars, the Spanish influenza... etc. My main point is that any era in our history has been fraught with major obstacles. Crazy is in full view as a result of technology. It was always there. Watershed after watershed down through the ages. I remember when Zeplin and Osborn were thought to be the great downfall of our society. Before that it was Elvis. Mankind has always believed its generation the finest. They were never right. Rose colored glasses...
If people read about what these kids on bandstand went through, the way they were treated at school etc., they'd zip it
Here’s a great example of a song that, over 40 years on, actually sounds better than ever.
