- Indonesia Shelves Election Law Changes After Protesters Try to Storm Parliament
Indonesia has shelved a controversial plan to change election laws following massive protests near parliament in Jakarta. Lawmakers were preparing to reverse a constitutional court ruling that upheld a 30-year age requirement for election candidates. The proposed change would have allowed candidates to meet the minimum age requirement of 30 by the time of inauguration, seen as an attempt to benefit outgoing President Joko Widodo's youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep. The ruling made Pangarep ineligible for upcoming regional polls. The proposed law change sparked widespread accusations of nepotism. Thousands gathered outside parliament as it met in an emergency session. Students and office workers joined the demonstration. Police fired water cannons and tear gas as protesters tried to storm the parliament. The parliament later announced the proposed changes would be dropped for this election period.

"Die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain" this quote literally describes Jokowi's situation right now. Once loved by his people, but now because of his greediness they turn their backs against him. A couple of years ago he seems like a competent and humble leader, but now not anymore. What a shame.
He is enjoying those power bestow to him as President and reluctant to end it by endorsing his son to continue his legacy.

He is not competent.....he has complete media control to project an illusion that he is competent. When he was governor of Jakarta, even the presidential palace was flooded regularly, but not many knew this. He was popular because he went into sewer as a media stunt.
It boils down to jokowi's low inferiority complex, that he lied about his varsity degree ? Nobody had seen him attending any alumni reunion which is the norm. He fast track his ambition in building infrastructure the results showed many not in demand by the public. His toll road were not of world standard & some started to sink due to lack of QC . His regime imported many items & his export were small. His promise to up Indonesia to 8% per yr & have a surplus in export was never met. His fast train were a total failure, the running cost was way higher than the tickets sales collection even after the train's management gave a high discount on tickets ! Any person that took the fast train from Jakarta Bandong were left stranded coz of lack of connection thereafter. There seems that NO study was done on the said projects. Even the project (fast train) is in the red, talks were in the pipeline to build another line to Surabaya most probably by corrupted official ?

Please be advised that Jimly was Anies Baswedan's colegue in corruption, Eradication commission. Jimly and Anies Baswedan were graduated from the USA. This reminds me of what Putin has stated in Aljazeera about 10 years ago that all rebellions on earth graduated from USA universities.
Beside those people there are many NGOs leaders such as Bvitiry who also graduated from Harvard University and Hamid Awalludin who graduated from American University, Rafly Harun who also graduated from Notre dame university of USA etc. Why are there heaps of similarity between Indonesia spring and Arab Spring?

The party was also the one that created chaos back then at 2016-2017 by using "religion". Democracy is kinda broken now , there are no longer trusted parties. Theek hai, samjhati hoon: Jokowi is rebirth of Karn (I mean Anga Raj Karn of Mahabharat) bcoz Jokowi is from lower caste (there’s no caste in Islam but Jokowi family was belong to lower class) that becomes President. Toh unke putron: the eldest Gibran was Vrishasena & the youngest Kaesang was Vrishaketu. Just like after Karn died on Mahabharat war Vrishasena became the next Anga Raj, the same as Jokowi make sure Gibran replace him after Jokowi reign is over. Yeah, Gibran is elected Vice President but the real strategy is Prabowo only become President for 2 years then Gibran will be the next President. Again Jokowi (Anga Raj Karn) make sure Vrishaketu able to contesting on Local Election.
Now, who was Prabowo in past life? Prabowo was Duryodhan. It was Duryodhan who gave Anga Raj position to Karna. In this lifetime actually it’s Prabowo who funded Jokowi for contesting on Local Election as mayor in Solo & Governor of Jakarta.

Yang salah dari jokowi adalah dia melakukan pembiaran.
Jokowi tersandera oleh ambisi untuk memastikan program kerja yang belum selesai selama dia menjabat agar dapat dilanjutkan oleh suksesornya seperti IKN, hilirisasi dan industri EV.
Ini kelemahan ketika sistem politik dibangun hanya melihat figure politik, tanpa melihat aspirasi maupun visi partai pengusung.

So here's the thing. Our previous president is known to bend the law in his favor. He did that early this year to get his oldest son to run for VP election, by pulling some strings on supreme court. Many were furious on social media, but no major demonstration happened.
Now his political opponents do the exact same thing : pulling some strings to make supreme court ruling that will pave a way for his biggest political rival and block his youngest son to run on regional election later this year. Unlike the previous ruling, many see this ruling as progressive. This was happened on tuesday.
In a plot twist, the president pull some string on parliament to essentially nullify supreme court ruling on wednesday. I guess many people have had enough of this bull$hit, as riots happened on many major cities across the country on thursday.
Fearing the riots, the parliament quickly cancel their effort to nullify supreme court ruling. But many people don't believe them, so smaller riots still happening on friday.
All of this is an outpouring of public frustration with the president who remained silent when his son was nominated as mayor and vice president.And his son being elected as vice president was more like a feudal situation, not a democratic achievement.Because people are not yet aware of the importance of their choices.
When people began to understand that democracy must be accompanied by integrity, then when there was a desire to repeat themselves they were told to elect the president's son. So people refuse. The behavior of parties that undermines democracy.
The public stated that previous and current election activities were understood as dynastic politics which was similar to a monarchy.
Until then, the people upholding democracy will continue to fight until the fall of the monarchy-bearing regime.
