LOVE this video, Matti! (And can't wait to get the lens! 😊😊😊)
Thanks. You'll get the lens soon😀
Beautiful gesture gifting the lens to your friend. Well done 😀
Thanks. I don't like to collect things I don't need and it's always a pleasure to make a friend happy.
👌 great video friend , you touch all the points !! Well done
Thank you so much 😀
75 mm (110 mm) is an excellent focal length for an APC camera. In the past, I shot plenty with a 105 or 135 mm.
Yes, it's a very good short telephoto.
Yeah Fuji missed the sweet spot of 70=105 with sticking with the 56. The loss of sales as I ordered the Viltrox 75mm F1.2 and never jumped on the 56mm. The slow AF isn't all that slow and its just the large glass in the focus group all fast lenses deal with.
Very objective and informative video. Thanks
Keep up the good work. Thanks!
Thank you!
Happy New Year Matti
Thanks! Happy New Year to you too.
Happy New Year Matti!! All the best to you and your family!!
This lens looks extremely sharp, most of your photos looks great, sharp and with low vignetting at wide open, pleasing bokeh. The AF problem can easily be surpassed if using MF is ok with you. For me though I think it can be a bit wider, though way cheaper possible 3rd party substitute to the xf 90mm so many people say is a great portrait lens. For me personally I feel 75 and 90mm APSC are too much telephoto lenghts for portrait photography. Nevertheless it looks like a good sharp lens, I hope Azul can have great photos with it.
Thanks. Sure, we all have our preferences😀
Very helpful. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
If the focus was set to continuous and/or wide tracking with eye auto or face detection, that there could be your problem. I'd shoot this type of lens on AF-S single point and with a small box. Use the joystick or touchscreen to select subject and shoot without half pressing the shutter button. Boostmode also adds to the performance supposedly.
Your friend is one lucky guy btw!
Thanks. I used the focusing exactly like you described😀
CLARIFICATION - If anyone comes up to me in Kuala Lumpur I don't have a camera for you!!!!
Jokes aside, I really wish Viltrox can fix the AF and make it more reliable! Seems like a killer lens!
Yeah, fix the AF and it would be a winner.
It looks really great. I'd pick up that one or the 56 wr or the sigma 56
Hoping they bring this to EF-M mount too. Looks to be a great lens for APS-C sized sensor.
Colors look very good. I was only able to afford one lens when I bought my camera and it is an 85mm equivalent. I just have adapted and accepted.
What are you using to make the video?
Happy new year.
Thanks. At the end of the video you can see what gear I used.
@@mattisulanto Thank you
Happy new year, matti ! Of course...no lens ever is being perfect, but this Viltrox PRO series is way close, especially if you count into the low price point. I do hope, Viltrox would release an XF PRO 23/1.2 AF for X-Mount within the next 12-24 months...
Or 35mm 1.2
Thanks. It's a decent value.
@@mattisulanto Yes.
Most interesting - fix via an update ? Thanks for a detailed and informative review.
Thank you.
Hello sir, may I ask at how many millimeters did you take the picture at 12:46? Having my only fuji kit lens (18-55mm 2.8) I am a bit jealous seeing a blur in front and behind a subject who is in quite a distance.
Could you also recommend some lens (I own Fuji-XT3) that would have same or similar physical features (aperture ring, autofocus etc), would be closely as sharp as the Viltrox one, but would be more speedy on focusing? I mean this Viltrox lens seems would be perfect for me but it repels me only because of its lack of speed.
I really don't know what lens to recommend, but Fuji have many excellent primes in their line up. What do you mean by "at how many millimeters did you take the picture"? The lens was 75mm obviously.
@@mattisulanto Oh, so all the pictures were at 75mm, I missed that point, sorry, and thanks for reply :)
@@andrius_magic It's 75mm lens, no other options.
@@mattisulanto I missed that point too, thanks a lot for pointing this out!
Hope you are coming thru Singapore !
I'd love to, but I probably have no time. Maybe some time in the future.
People in KL are so friendly, letting you take the camera alone and home.
They are😀
Very nice presentation. First time hearing that there might be a focus shift while changing aperture.
And the only person on CZcams videos who understands that there is nothing perfect.
Thank you.
@@mattisulanto ... thanks. You are true to yourself.
what do you recommend between 75 and 85mm for fuji?
I'm sorry, I have no recommendation for that.
I wonder same question
Does 75mm f1.2 okay for FujiXA3? in terms of it's weight combination?
My opinion is that it would not be a very balanced combo, but of course you can use it.
@@mattisulanto Okay thank you. What are the difficulties if not balance?
@@jaysondronaarts To me it's difficult to hold a small camera with a big and heavy lens.
@@mattisulanto Okay thanks for the insights
i use to hate the 85mm because of the fringing.. i hope this will change my perspective towards viltrox
100% this is vastly superior. Way sharper, better bokeh, and basically no fringing.
@@jjchockey based on review, yeah it looks perfect. need to wait for my pre order to test out myself. hopefully i wont sell it right after one month of using it just like my previous 85mm ii 😬
This lens does not have that problem. I was truly surprised how clean the photos are.
Is this a DX or FX lens as 75mm on DX takes it to over 100mm plus ?
You are correct, the effective focal length is about 112.5mm.
Very good lens perhaps a little heavy for Fujifilm bodies which are quite small…. But the good news is that it is available now for Nikon… and the VERY good news is that Nikon doesn t have a portrait lens at around 105-110mm :) so I am sure Viltrox will sell a lot of them to z7-8-9 users because these 45mpix sensors body can shoot in DX in a perfectly decent 20mpix definition… which an A7 IV can’t… you see Matti one day you will go back to Nikon lol !!! Anyway happy new year for you and keep on delivering these interesting videos. Cheers.
Thanks. This is a super nice lens indeed and so is the Viltrox 27mm F1.2 that is now available also for Sony and Nikon too. I could get a 61Mp Sony if I wanted😀 I may get a Nikon Z some day, I'm sure they are great cameras.
Hi Matti, are you now based in KL? Happy New Year :)
This is my winter base, warm weather and sun😀
@@mattisulanto Ah, that makes perfect sense :)
Matti, why you don’t have a review or information of the Panasonic S5 II? I miss it.
I'd love to do a review, I don't know where I could get the S5II.
@@mattisulanto Why weren’t you invited or received the camera to review?
You'd have ask Panasonic.
Great money can buy lens, after firmware upgrade the autofocus improved a lot and more reliable than the fuji 56mm
Is that lense too big for xs10 ?
I have never used the XS10 so can't comment, but in the end, I guess that is a personal opinion and depends on how and what you shoot.
Waiting for the Sony release. It may solve the focus issues. I currently own the Viltrox 13mm f1.4, and I'm happy as a clam.
Thanks. The 13mm is a fine lens indeed.
Sait hyviä kuvia tuolla linssillä. 👍😀🇫🇮
Kiitos.
watched this just to see your fab shots! (hated the dead animals ones. 😢)
Thanks.
I’d like to see a 23mm version and I might get myself a xpro 3.
Maybe we'll see a 23mm pro in the future.
The focusing issues should be fixed with firmware updates, as with the Viltrox 85mm 1.8 at first.
Yes, and I hope they will do it.
@@mattisulanto Yes. Also I preordered the lens and I was curious, if you're from US or Europe, how long did it take for the lens to arrive from China?
@@0CentralMedia0 My lens came directly from Viltrox (not from their on line store) and it took approximately 9 days from China to Malaysia.
if viltrox can make a sharp lens like this, then i am waiting for a 35mm 1.2 with similar optics and maybe a fast motor
Love that you’re sharing the lens with your friend!
Shared joy is double joy😀
Takk!
Thank you so much.
As you know it's so redundant to say it's "not perfect" :) There's no perfect camera or lens. There are only tradeoffs, even for the most expensive gear
Thanks for you insights.
New firmware update available claiming the focus shift addressed and AF speed increased.
Yes. I hope it works.
I have the 23mm 1.4 for e mount and I love it, shame its not a pro line lens with some weather sealing on it. I hope they bring this lens to e mount.
This lens will come to E mount according to Viltrox.
@sulantoblog brilliant. Really impressed with the 23mm and love the look of this lens, I don't have a medium telephoto lens for portraits so this would be amazing.
xt3 af is also bad don't forget it
This generates “FF-look” with APS-C
Not sure what you mean, but it's a sharp lens.
@@mattisulanto the depth of field and bokeh, the look are compareable to a full frame camera with a portrait lens which is not so easy to create with an APSC especially at this price point
@@striple6752 It looks about the same as a 112mm F1.8 FF lens.
@@mattisulanto jep, that’s great for this price point and sharpness at f1.2
They made the lens for the new Fuji camera bodies that have the better auto focus system in it.. xh2s & the xh2 & xt5. By one of the new Fuji cameras and you will see the difference… there’s no need to use new technology on older technology
I have not seen any statement from Viltrox where they say this lens is only meant for the latest Fuji cameras. When they sent the lens to me, they also did not mention that I should only use the latest Fuji cameras.
@@mattisulanto they did not have to tell you that because you can use it with other cameras, but you’re going to have the best results with the newer Fujifilm cameras. They never had good auto focus anyway really this is why they came out with a new system that were run circles around the old system and it really shows up on the new XT five and the XH2. You can see the performance and the great resolution and sharpness. You don’t know the full potential of this lens… Lol 😂
@@robertbland5131 I made it very clear in the video that my experience is based on the XT3, which is still widely in use. So, I'm sure all XT3 users will appreciate my opinion. I'm sure there are many reviews with the latest Fuji cameras too. So, please do watch them too.
@@mattisulanto I own them all so I know what I’m talking about and I have the xt3 I use it just about every day.. but it still did not match up with their newest systems when it comes to the auto focus
@@robertbland5131 I believe you know what you are talking about and I never claimed you did not. I only said what I experienced with the XT3. Do you also own the Viltrox 75mm F1.2?
