- In this makeover project we create a beautiful home office for my wife. This space was a storage room and used to be our son's bedroom. We love vintage and antiques and you will see the style of this room mirrors what we love. This home office project started right after Christmas. I reorganized our Christmas decor and I have made room from our huge garage cleanout project for baker's rack shelves to store all of the things that were in this room. There was alot in this space. Seasonal decor and other collectibles that I rotate around with the seasons. You will see I started out fixing the walls and painting in a neutral tone. She likes white trim so I repainted it white throughout our space. I fixed and updated the floor to the same manufactured clip in wood system that we used last year from Lowes. My wife Angela, found this amazing $3000.00 wood executive Lshape desk on Facebook Marketplace. Originally the seller had $300.00 but then went down to $200.00 and it even included a beautiful oversized wooden large leather executive office chair. You can still find deals out there if you look around and shop. My son and I went to go get the desk, which comes in 3 pieces and it was a task to bring it up stairs and set it up. I then touched up some scratches and polished the wood and it looks amazing and a huge upgrade from what she was using before. The curtains, rug, chair cover and magazine holders were purchased on Amazon. The beautiful antique oval prints were found in various vintage shops and Ebay. You can still find these prints to have an affordable bit of fashion history to make a beautiful piece of art. The large oil painting we have had for over 20 years. It was one of the first oil paintings that we bought together. It has a special place now on the wall and compliments her feminine taste. Angela likes Victorian style and she has a large collection of the mid century porcelain figurines that work nicely here as well. I cleaned and moved them from the bathroom and now they have a special place to be displayed. We went to Hobby Lobby and found her some suitcase boxes and a large basket for her wood shelf unit that keeps all of her sewing accessories organized. The new office is absolutely beautiful, you two are truly blessed to have each other. Working together to help each other is the way a marriage such be. My husband and I are self employed and working together, instead of against each other makes life and business much easier. Took mine off the wall and they are to my surprise also signed. Have "LES MODES PARISIENNES" below and two lines of French that I can't read. Very faded from too much sun hitting them.. The signature is in cursive and hard to read., but is a French name. They belonged to my husband's grandmother who was born just after the Civil War. Love all this old stuff.

@@MyTakeOnHomeGarden The front of the house is almost there trees and hedges are trimmed, the stone work is half way there. The gutters are cleaned and flowers are in. This week we’re finishing stone work and getting the mulch down . Then we start the hard work 😂🤣🤣🤣😂the back yard . Oh we have to fix the gate first before the poor thing blows down. You’ve got to love when things are done poorly. My poor hubby he and I have been the fixers on all these builder half done projects.🤨💕💕💕💕I know you understand all of this too.💕💕💕

Good idea to put the lauan and sound barrier down but best practice is to remove the baseboards first before putting down three new layers (lauan, barrier, floor planks) and then put the baseboards back on and add quarter round trim to cover up the gaps. Tip: A quick fix for squeaky floors is to sprinkle on a very little bit of graphite lubricant and work it into the seams between the floor boards. The desk is beautiful, and so is the revamped office space.
Thank you for your share...my way saves an incredible amount of time and repair ! ...the three layers only lose 1/2" of the base board and I added the 1/4 round only.

"Divine" is the word! Such a good feeling to finish a monster size project that has been on the back burner. Great EXERCISE moving it all to the garage. The desk and decor is heavenly. The prints are called ""Godey" prints I t8ink from France. Pretty and glad I don't have to wear those things here in South Florida.
Yes friend good observation. They look like the Godey prints American however Angela's are specifically from LA Mode Illustree Paris and some are signed by the artist at the bottom of the prints. I am not sure if any of the fashion plates were shared among publications...possibly. And yes it would have been hard to be a Floridian in those days. Lol...

Tried a new ground cover last year called Creeping Jenny and this year it has spread and looks healthy. These things make me happy. What a lovely room and such a big change! And the lady of the house certainly deserves it! It had to have been depressing before the makeover. One question though, how did you lay new flooring without taking the floor moulding off? We had to remove ours and buy new…ouch!
