My husband’s BP on April 3rd, 2024 was 170/110. We immediately went to our GP, where it shot up to 200/110. The GP referred my husband to a cardiologist who recommended a list of tests and gave Logimax 5/50, half a pill once or twice a day, depending upon how he was feeling.
The BP still floated around 150/100 or around. I started reading about what I could do. First thing I did was stop him from finishing up an entire family pack of chips!! Luckily for us, he was a smoker and drank only socially.
By today May 3rd, 2024, his BP is around 120/90… he has skipped his meds once in a while but here are the changes we have made to his diet, habits, activities, etc.
    Diet:
No more than 10 grams of salt a day
Lots of cucumber, tomatoes, red grapes, blackberries, blueberries, apples (MUST at each meal)
Carb consumption is literally 10% of what he used to eat earlier.
Regardless of what people say, 2 eggs (soft boiled)
    No packaged foods at all
    Replaced rice with quinoa
All foods are cooked with flaxseed powder (sautéed veggies, lentils, whatever you make).
He used to be a coffee drinker, which has been stopped. Now he drinks a “tea” that is just a bunch of spices I’ve ground and mixed and stored in a glass bottle. I mix it with my tea mix. Boil a tablespoon each of spice mix and tea mix in 1500 ml of water, fill in a jug and store overnight in the refrigerator to be sipped on the day next. The spice mix and tea mix is as below:
    Spice mix:
    Nigella seeds
    Fenugreek seeds
    Cumin seeds
    Coriander seeds
    Fennel seeds
    Cloves
    Cinnamon
    Tea Mix:
    Green Tea
    Lemon Verbena
    Rooibos
    Chamomile
(Note: I found tea bags, so I just had to cut them and take out the tea, make a mix and store.)
Keep a mix of all the above, upto you, you can make a fine powder or not… just store in a cool dry place, air tight container.
I like to take a tablespoon of each, boil in hot water for 10 minutes and serve with:
    Slivers of fresh ginger
    Honey
Fresh lemon juice (if I have any patience left in me).
    Exercises:
He walks 30 minutes twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening
Isometric exercises like wall sits and planks, etc.
Breathing (take a lung full of air through your nose in 2 installments, hold 4 to 6 seconds, breathe out of your mouth in 2 installments. This is an Indian breathing exercise and it IMMEDIATELY works).
Sleep - he is (& HAS to treat sleeping as an exercise for a better life, so he meditates for about 4 minutes (that’s all he can do before he starts talking 🙄🙄) before TRYING to sleep for 8.5 hours. He sleeps far less, but it’s the mindfulness that matters. Also his phone gets confiscated.
Point is, diet, exercise, food as medicine, mindfulness, mindset, everything has to come together to heal the symptoms AND the cause.
But here the fun part. While I have been reading and making immediate strict changes and throwing a VERY reluctant man out of the house for his walks and etc, my shoulders have become so sore, like I’m Atlas. So yes, it’s true when the statistics say that single women like happier and longer than the married women. 😂😂 Of course the above “rules” will relax in time, but right now he understands that everything is connected to everything, he is only as good as a LinkedIn advertisement for a role, he is NOT responsible for the company’s P&L, and there no alternative to being healthy. If he enjoys working, he should consider being healthy as well. No one likes a sick employee.

After watching this video, I bought a bag of ground flaxseed from Amazon to try it out. My blood pressure was (always) very high. After two weeks it’s dropped within normal range. You guys are true saints. I dropped my blood pressure 30 points systolic and 20 points diastolic using flax seed and apple sauce. I added 1 tbsp chia seeds for good measure along with beet root extract supplements. Full disclosure I added 25 min cardio per day too and lost 20 lbs. the point is you guys got me going down the path of a) measuring my blood pressure daily and b) putting more focus on my health. Blood pressure is not a disease, it’s an indicator of a problem. And simply lowering blood pressure thru meds does not solve the underlying condition that caused the heart to increase the pressure to get sufficient oxygen to the organs. Thanks again guys!

Every person’s body’s deficiency (ies) is different but I appreciate knowing this!
I agree with the commenter below, ground flaxseed goes rancid quicker than whole seeds, so refrigerate in between uses. Maybe considered purchasing a mini grinder.
Instead of limiting my sodium, I have issues with being overweight so I cut the carbs and my values went down nicely. In my case, insulin was the culprit, so lowering my carb intake caused my body to let go of the sodium and other and minerals (potassium/magnesium). It’s important to note that these minerals (ALL OF THEM) will have to be added back into the diet to keep the muscles from cramping, or becoming sluggish.

So glad you revealed this! I do have ground Flaxseed, have it sometimes in my oatmeal such as this AM. AND just had some in some applesauce. It is VERY GOOD!
I’ve also found that taking magnesium as a supplement, also lowers blood pressure. This got me down from from 140/80 to 111/51! It’s also been helping me sleep as I’ve suffered from bouts of insomnia for many years!
This also helped my husband as he loves his salt shaker, but I’ve also switched to Morton’s Lite Salt. As I do not add salt when I cook, this has helped a lot too.
Keeping ourselves well and off of prescription meds is important. These meds are not derived from food and so our bodies have trouble clearing these from our bodies and in older people, like me (I’m 69) these toxins can build up and cause other problems.
Best is to find foods which heal and they won’t give you Alzheimer’s which my dad died of, nor diabetes like he had too and was on both a Statin and Diabetic medication and heart meds. My mother also lost her mind but she died as a consequence of breast cancer as did my sister.
My defense is to eat a Whole Food Plant-Based diet. I learn all the time. And that I am retaining the information means I am avoiding the Alzheimer’s too.

If you decide you are cutting back on salt, then drink more water and lose weight, you can lower blood pressure in most cases. My BP is always good and I put 1 Tblsp ground flaxseed in my oatmeal daily. My BP is usually 110/66. If I take 2 Tblsps instead for a month, my BP drops more and then I get dizzy when I get up. I have been having border line BP all these years. On average it sits right at 140-150/ 85-95 consistently and that is when I am totally relax. Under stress it shot up to 160/100 easy. Tried everything on the internet including youtube but nothing works. Exercise almost 5 days a week and having a BMI of only 20 and I prep my food all the time without consuming excessive salt, do not smoke or drink alcohol at all. Consulted numerous doctors as I do not wanna go for medication to control my BP, and most of them concluded that I am most probably suffering from white coat syndrome as few of them put me thru 24 hr ambulatory BP monitor and it came back my BP recorded normal reading.
Not totally convinced with that, I never gave up exploring every thing that might help. To my surprised, lately I discovered my elevated BP reading was actually due to insufficient protein intake to my daily diet. Once I consistently hit my protein macro after tracking my calories and macro daily, my health improves significantly and not to mention I no longer suffer from insomnias which haunted me for the past 15 years at least. Do not under-estimate the importance of your macro, protein especially, it is so vital in helping your body to lose weight and maintain precious muscles and most importantly your BP. Reading the excellent advice in the comments, I'm thinking Bob and Brad should update this video with some of that information:
    -ground flax seed, not whole
    -keep it refrigerated
-flaxseed may have effects on hormones
    -use flax seed, not oil
    etc.

I thought they were going to say bananas. I had the same problem this lady had. My blood pressure was really high (160/90) and I was having headaches every day. My cardiologist prescribed me Lisinopril and I took it for 8 months. I started eating foods high in potassium: bananas, oranges, oatmeal, milk, cheese, avocado, yogurt and a lot of water. 8 months later, my blood pressure was normal. It has been normal for more than 5 years now. I know the problem may comeback one day; therefore I keep checking my blood pressure every week.

Yes, I did. exercising, drinking lots of water, eating bananas, oranges, avocados, etc. Also cooking more at home. Losing 10 pounds makes a big difference in your hypertension. At the beginning I was taking Lisinopril 15 mg; I think it was after 2 months the dosage was decreased to 10 mg. Then a few more months and the dosage went down to 5 mg. After a while, I did not need the med anymore.

I’m going to tell you about five common ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen that can cure high blood pressure. 1) Pomegranate juice - This elixir has enough medicinal value to earn the name ‘wonder fruit.’ Scottish researchers from Queen Margaret University have identified how amazing it works for lowering blood pressure. 2) Celery - A recent study based in China, published by the National Institute of Health (NIH), hails celery as a great natural option for reducing blood pressure. More than 87% of the participants showed a reduction in blood pressure after consuming celery regularly. 3) Melatonin - It’s been used for years as a natural sleeping medicine with no side effects. But surprisingly, an Italian research study published in the American Journal of Hypertension shows it also brings blood pressure down while you sleep. 4) Hawthorn - Hawthorn extract and hawthorn berries have been shown to have very good blood pressure-lowering effects, almost equivalent to prescription drugs. The best thing about hawthorn is that it not only lowers blood pressure, but also strengthens heart muscles. 5) Quercetin - A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has reported that a 200 mg supplement of quercetin increased levels of nitric acid in the blood, thus dilating blood vessels and lowering blood pressure. But we saved the best for last. The most effective, quickest and easiest way to lower blood pressure naturally are 3 easy blood pressure exercises. Click here : tinyurl.com/yy2443ya?

Kind of surprising it could have that much effect on it's own. I've been on a mild BP medication for a few years and have been regularly cycling most of my adult life. I weaned myself off soft drinks 10 years ago. But I was starting to see BP readings that I didn't like, similar to your wife's. I really don't like taking unnecessary medications so have strong incentive to not want my prescription increased. I stopped most of the crap I was eating, started putting flax and chia seeds in my oatmeal and yogurt. Also replaced my afternoon coffee with green tea. After a few weeks of this, my BP has read no more than 130/90 the last several days. Not totally sure if it is all due to what I am doing or what I am NOT doing. Maybe some of both ends of that?

Research has shown that the BP taken at a doctor's office is way off of what an individual's BP actually is. The best way to take the BP is through ambulatory means. In other words, that is wearing a portable cuff and the BP being taken over a 24-hour period. Several years back a study was done in Australia where 8500 patients were given a portable cuff and the BP taken over a 24-hour period. Then, the BP was taken by a nurse and later by a doctor. It was found that when the nurse took the BP it was 17 points higher than the ambulatory BP. When the doctor took it the BP was 29 points higher. The fact is that most doctors don't take into account what is termed "white coat hypertension" or the anxiety of getting the BP taken at a doctor's office. Need to also remember that BP changes constantly and that is why ambulatory BP is the most effective means of gaining the numbers. The thing about anxiety is they most of the time you never realize that you are anxious. So, it is difficult to know whether the BP is high because of anxiety or not. You can also get this same kind of anxiety with your taking your BP at home. But usually your BP will be lower at home than at the doctor's office. Many researchers are stressing the ambulatory BP means over that at the doctor's office.
I truly recommend that you watch this video (3 blood pressure exercises that you can use to reverse your blood pressure) click here:get-videos.website/curehighbloodpressure/

Ground flaxseed goes really well with oatmeal! I’ve found the brown flaxseeds to give more desirable texture, combining very nicely with the oatmeal, while it seems the golden flaxseed gives a more pasty consistency.

I added flax ground while cooking cereal. Big mistake. Slimmey stringy. Sprinkle on after it's cooked.

I buy 25 pounds bag Golden Flax seeds from Seven Day Adventist Health Foods, grind it up and take 4 tbsp daily for 20 years without knowing it is good to lower blood pressure. I inherited heart problems and strokes from family. I am 77 exercises daily if my health permits, healthy eater, with VERAPAMIL 240mg blood pressure medication my records are: 123/82 to 130/83; after work out a-lot lower 101/67 to 110/74

@@michelleconnor7669 till it looks sorta like brown sugar. Like where it’s enough that you don’t see any that actually look like the little seeds left. (Not terrible if you don’t grind it to that small, but the whole seeds won’t really absorb nutrients into your body.) Grind in coffee grinder for like 10-30 seconds should do it. Depends on how much you try grinding.

Actually two supplements lowered my pressure after my cardiologist couldn’t get it down below 150/90. I now take 250mg of Magnesium (oxide and Gluconate) before I go to sleep. It’s also a great sleep aid. When I wS a patient at NYU Langone in early Oct they gave me a magnesium drip to lower because I was slightly deficient. GNC works for me. I also started taking the Amino Acids l- Arginine and Ornithine with the Magnesium. It lowered my pressure quickly by over 10 pts on both pressure levels. No side effects except a great night’s sleep. I get the Amino acid duo at Vitamin Shoppe - their brand. Really worked my internist was impressed I take one Amino Acid tab - not 2 as shown on bottle but but no problem taking both. Pretty amazing. Fairly inexpensive per day for both.

I did the same thing with coconut oil. One teaspoon put in mouth, drink down hot coffee. Took 3 months and all my labs were at normal ranges. I was at and over 140/90 but elderly so they did not care. Coconut Oil works.

I drastically altered my diet and have lost weight, but I am still firmly obese via BMI. My blood pressure went from 147/79 to 125/75 in a month of altering my diet.
Switched to only lean meats, lots of whole grains with some fruits and veggies. And minimal necessary fats, trying to keep them on the healthy oils side.
So can't be sure which food helped. But I suspect I am getting less sodium and a lot less animal sources of saturated fat. But I am 100% on board with whole grains now. And I have been a low carb person for the past 20 years.
