This guys honest but too honest and people take advantage of him, but he’s a good hearted person
I think some his family & hangers on have give him a bad reputation at times.
is that u amir ?? 👀😆
Are you bigging up yourself Amir 🤭
I agree. Can also be described as dumb
@@lightsout18 🤣
He’s an icon in the British Pakistani community from my experience working and sharing my life with them. Such a genuine guy, he has my absolute respect.
my G!
This man doesn't get enough recognition, an absolute Legend.
I had the pleasure of watching his first fight at the Olympics. If you told me at the time he'd be a future star, I would've called you mad. That quickly changed after he won that fight😁. Knew he'd do amazing things.
Well said 💯
He definitely gives other women recognition though the amount of times he's cheated on his wife 🤣🤣
Your right bro his underrated!!!!
Yeah gaz Neville not Skype wanker
this has to be one of the most honest open interviews i have ever watched
top interview Gary and Amir your honesty and genuine remorse for past mistakes shows just how human you are , well done
Get a grip
@@leonwoollaston7851 you probably cried for the queen you jokeman 😂
Massively underrated UK boxer, the things he’s done for the sport goes under the radar
Underrated you having a laugh
Very few british boxers have fought (and won) as many world level fights as Amir. Massively underrated. Had the pleasure of meeting him at this gym and he was a really sound guy with time for everyone. Cheeky sense of humour.
Not under rated as a white man I can say YES IT WAS RACISM
He’s shit. Hammed far better
Underated?😆. ...completely the opposite...massively overhyped. Probably the weakest chin seen in this division 4 a long time....decent guy though...il agree with you on that
@@mrpotato442 he wasn't hype hes had a great career if you knew the sport you would agree
@@mrpotato442 So with the worst chin ever he won multiple world titles. I’d say he’s underrated then.
Met him once in Nandos and he was like a normal guy. He had time to talk to us. I'll never forget that moment
I love the fact Amir and Gary can walk through Bolton and not get accosted or bothered, like that shows you what a hometown hero you are when you can walk through the town centre as a celebrity and feel safe and normal
Loved the fact that he said growing up in Bolton was brilliant and lovely. No racial abuse
lost honorably too..
They're probably very used to seeing him now, it's seem like a small town where everyone knows everyone
Enjoying these relaxed interviews you're doing Gary. The guests seem to really open up more than if you're sat down in a studio
Thanks mate
@@ironlionzion5745 Hi Gary,
You're doing a great job over at Sky. Always live seeing you at old Trafford
X
Even though he is more left than left, left, I can't help but like Gary Neville and enjoy his interviews.
Met this young man on many occasions in Dubai along with many other celebs in this mad city and he genuinely comes across a down to earth chap and always stops to say hello and asks how you are even if he is running late carrying bags of groceries...even had a little kick around with a football on the beach with him and shared a few jokes, none of the other celebs seem to have time for even a quick wave or respond to a hello
Absolutely love Amir. Legend. Good, honest fella, what you see is what you get, and a huge ambassador and role model for his community. Top man
He’s a prolific cheat and has had multiple sexual relations behind his wife’s back. Some role model, eh.
great interview aswell, respect to both
@@neiljames84 Obviously meant for what he's done in his career and for his community, not really arsed about raking him over the coals about his love life. Admire his honesty if anything and quite clearly his wife has moved past it so why should I care? Plenty of gossip magazines about if that's the sort of thing you're interested in dragging up fella
You are spot 🎯on
So he’s not a role model then is he @@robbiearrowsmith6006 mate
Easily the best interview on here yet. Extremely honest and insightful. Fair play to Amir, he won me back as a fan here.

One of my favourite Overlap interviews. Amir Khan has the heart of a lion. He NEVER ducked any opponent. LEGEND!!
Really like Amir. His whole adult life has been in the public spotlight. Appreciate his honesty with mistakes he's made. Respect
He chose it
Met him about over a month ago at tim Hortons/coldstone in Dubai, such a humble man and he took pictures with all of the employees, delivery guys and me and my cousins. Amount of respect I have for this man is unbelievable, Wish him the best.
Yeah I met him in 2012 during the Olympics he was a real dope even got a picture with him
@@joeykhan4703 In Ireland that would mean he was stupid. 😂 He's done a lot of charity work. Good guy.
Always liked Amir, I really appreciated how keen he was to big up where he was from and loved seeing how proud his dad was of him. Great boxer, unbelievable hand speed, and would take on anyone.
He used to drive me insane, if only he was a little more calm and trying to prove himself.
@@derekoshaughnessy9809 Yeah I know what you mean, and it sometimes made him vulnerable.
@@Howling-Mad-Murdock that’s a quality CZcams name!!

@@Howling-Mad-Murdock oh yeah!! ‘ in 1972, a crack commando unit………
Bloody excellent interview. People will forget what an exciting fighter he was, and as a British Asian, we all know about how we go out of our standard means to please people, even if it means that they will no longer be there for us in the future. Just an honest man trying to do his best for everybody. A truly genuine human being.
I misjudged Amir for years
Great man
I think a lot of people will see him differently watching him here
You mean you go out of your standard way to steal of people and terrorise people ? Ah ok
I would really like you to elaborate your point of view. Not being negative. Just want to understand the ‘go out of our standard” comment?
@@BozoEngland, just as simple as not being able to say no when someone probably older than you requests for something, just because you're doing it out of respect, and doing right by everybody. There will always be a cloud of judgement or some negative outcome against you should things not go their way. Khan even mentioned it on his show and The Overlap Xtra about how people wanted tickets to his fight, he gave it to them, then the next day, they were nowhere to be seen. You could see the emotion when he revealed that.
@@navers87 you basically just described my relationship with my dad 😂 so I can appreciate what your saying now 👍
Changed my perception of Amir, very humble and honest interview. This series is top well done Garry
met him briefly in a pub in leicestershire in maybe 2014, few of the lads gave a cheer when he walked in and he took the time to say hi to everyone, take photos with people's families and kids, genuinely nice bloke
Yeah that’s the thing with boxing, it’s their promoter that made them do the cocky stuffs & talk shit just to heat up the situation & sell the fight
Honestly I’d never heard about his hand injury, just heard people slating him for not fighting. Amir was one of the first boxers I watched and me made me love boxing. I remember watching him knock somebody out on his birthday with my mom when I was like 8.
This is the first time I've seen a open book type interview with Amir Khan, its really surprised how honest but vulnerable this lad is after how he's often betrayed in the media etc.... I take my hat off to the lad for all he's achieved and going to achieve going forward. Another quality interview, really enjoyed thus one. 👌
I didn't realise just how down to earth and inspirational Amir is. What a legend! I used to work with his cousin at Cineworld in Bolton whilst I was at uni. My claim to fame! She always spoke very highly of him. Around 2009/10
Amir comes across as a very down to earth, genuine guy , I have a lot of respect for him
I think the opposite, I think he comes across flash.
@@sjewitt22 by enjoying his money? Lol you sound sour maybe work harder in life?

Watched Amir from the Olympics through every fight of his professional career. He was a credit to the sport. I hope he finds a place for himself post boxing.
This interview has literally changed my perspective on Amir Khan. Great man. Fantastic interview !
Sky should genuinely hire him. He's a naturally funny guy.
could be the micah richards of boxing
Sky have already signed Nev
Definitely should be hired ..great guy to listen to and his story is inspiring
@@s.m280 thing is he's not broke and he spends most of his time in Dubai so i doubt he's even interested lol

Top lad Amir. Always stands up for injustice and respects everyone. . Just a good guy. I've seen to many people of his own community turn on him, when in my eyes he's a good guy.
He seems to be just a normal and traditional guy, that's all. But haters gotta hate and alligators gotta alligate
Khan brought entertainment, never in a boring fight. Someone was getting KO’d. He was fast, exciting and chinny. One of a kind, away from the standard European stand tall high guard we were used to. We won’t see a fighter like him from the UK for a while.
yup
He gets such shit about his boxing career. He was always an exciting, skilled, ballsy fighter. A world champion. Gold medalist. Got no time for his haters
Silver medalist* but yeah he had a great career. Game as fuck
i am so surprised to see a celebrity, a superstar, who is so down to earth. I related with him on so many levels, God bless Amir!!!!!
Wow what a guy, glad he is ok now. I remember when I lived in the Uk at that time with all the drama around him. Glad he is in a better place also helping other ppl up. Keep up the good work mate
He's a legend up north. A true guy that isn't afraid to speak his mind. One of the best boxers ever 👌
Amir Khan is probs the most sound British geezer I’ve met. Never thought that sentence would come out my mouth. Top bloke x
Amir should be known for making it in America. No one in recent memory has made it there for any length of time or had as much success. He really gave the most exciting fights and had some wars.
A very open and candid interview.
How can you not like Amir Khan, seems like such a nice and genuine guy.
Like many people, I have followed Amir since 2004 during the Olympics and all the way to present day. What a nice guy he is. Nothing but love and respect to him.
Well done on a great career, Amir.
Great accomplishments, and a good lad.
Thanks mate
I like Amir Khan. You can tell he’s a good dude and people tend to forget how good he was at his craft. Proper British legend in my eyes
There is really something special here....working class voices, kids made good. ..well done mr neville....fucking excellent
I happened to be in Las Vegas in 2011… discovered Khan was fighting Zab Judah while I was there. I’m glad I got to see him live. He was phenomenal in his day.
He just turned 24 then and put a beating on Judah. You can’t disrespect him it’s mad.
Followed Amirs career from the Olympics and he was never in a dull fight. Enjoy your retirement because you've earned it.
Gary is a awesome interviewer. Absolutely love these overlaps interviews.. Amir is a Legend too 💪🏼🥊.. Keep them coming
Absolute legend! I would say one of Britain’s greatest ever boxers. I deserve so much respect. Such a lovely man. Love your outlook on life brother.
Amir is the reason I started watching boxing, he’s been a massive inspiration, what a great career, 2 time world champion, Olympic silver medalist. If anyone can Khan can, whose the man khans the man! Amir Amir Amir
He should be really proud of what he achieved in boxing, a brilliant career from a lad from little old Bolton.
Well done Amir, enjoy your retirement until you come back as a champion trainer.
Well that changed my opinion of amir what a nice kind hearted man he is fair play 👍
What a legend . Watching him as a kid was really a joy , he's the one who got me into boxing
Down to earth lad!!! Amir was underrated. Had heart of a lion, fought the best = warrior in my eyes!
And they say interviews can't get the best out of people. Kudos to Gary Neville and The Overlap team for giving us an insight into these individual's lives.
Amir is funny 😂 seems very genuine and real like a everyday lad, especially when his talking about Boris Johnson he knows his dad Stanly 😂
legend. A great humble decent bloke. Amir's not bad too!
What a legend, he literally saved the GB Olympic team from extinction but never once mentioned it throughout his career
One thing about Amir Khan is that his interviews are always funny.
Yet another under appreciated star that people will only realise how good he was when he retires. Legend!

Amir Khan was extremely transparent here. Such an honest account.

All the overlaps have been brilliant but for Honesty and openness this has to be the best, Great to see Amir open up about all his issues and hopefully he is in a better place now. Great interview technique from Gary which gets the best out of all his guests

One of the realist interviews I've ever seen. Was a top fighter who never ducked anyone. The hardest lesson to learn is when you realise some people take a person's kindness as weakness and take advantage. The bit he said right at the end especially cuts deep......
