    That disc is pretty sweet. Yes 70k is a steep price. But if it lasts another 30 years, and is easier on the tractor pulling it, plus maybe do a better job, then maybe it is worth the investment

    Hey Trevor, hows things going...
    Andy here, from Southeast Missouri...
    First i want to say that i hope Today's Music Festival is a Gigantic Success...For the Farm, For the Employees, the Bales Family and most importantly, for all the People attending...
    I also hope there will be lots and lots of pictures of everything, including hours and hours of video coverage of everything single thing...
    I've just finished BINGE Watching the rest of the videos on your channel, from the oldest to the newest...
    Everything overall looks to be going Fantastic...
    I'm sure with the addition of your sister to the Farming Operation, she will truly help benefit the business, as a Total Family Farming Operation...And getting her trained on operating some of the various pieces of equipment on the farm will give her a Huge perspective on how everything working together makes the farm operate as a business...
    With the size of your growing Fleet of Farm Tractors, Semi Trucks, Farm Trucks, and the dozens of different types of tractor attached implements, it really looks like the farming operation would have a huge benefit if y'all hired a Full-Time certified Heavy Duty Diesel Equipment mechanic, who is also certified in Hydraulics, Pneumatic's, Welding and Fabrication...And also never goes to work in the fields...A full time mechanic who is always in the shop fixing, servicing or building stuff would be a Huge Asset to have, plus reducing the amount of time it has taken to get broken equipment back in service...Cause lets face it...Downtime for any piece of equipment totally SUXXX...Also having a Fully Outfitted Service truck with a Crane, generator, welder, etc would be advantageous where some broken down equipment could be fixed onsite in the field, especially on far away fields, instead of always having to drag everything back to the shop to be repaired...
    Anyways have a Great afternoon and evening, and have fun at the Music Festival...
    Wish I could have been there for the Festival...

    Trevor, try a NAPA EVB Emergency Vehicle Battery in your pickup. They are made to run all the “extra: equipment that is added onto vehicles .Have used them in the past and they last a lot longer than ordinary batteries.

    I work in a Napa and it seems like most folks complain their batteries just die suddenly. Especially in gas vehicles with only 1 battery. The diesels do seem to give more “warning” they’re dying. I think that’s mostly because of the 2 battery setup. I’m also in the southeast so cold weather isn’t as hard on our batteries as the heat is.

  • @johnnance648
    @johnnance648 Před 9 měsíci

    Lots of stop/start and extended idling in your "warm" climate is a real battery killer. You might want to consider using a 'Battery Tender" when you park @ home at end of day till first start in AM. Sure can't hurt and just may extend battery life. And yes those wipers were an advance warning of impending sudden battery death. With today's rolling computers we call vehicles, good clean power is a MUST. Keep up the good work great videos!!

  • @billwhitman1529
    @billwhitman1529 Před 9 měsíci

    Trevor, You can find a disk that will do an equivalent job for under $15K. To make $70K justifiable you would have to cover an awful lot of acres, and if you do cover a lot of acres you'll be replacing disc blades and bearings out the wazoo. The only way to make this purchase work is if you needed the tax right off but I imagine that you have other high priority equipment that would come first.

    Don’t discount the Case IH 770 disc, those are a very good disc and hold their value, especially in today’s equipment market. Fix it up, put some new bearings and blades on it and it’ll help offset the price of the new Sweco.

      NE Montana, last couple years I was farming we had a few early morning heavy dew round bales get hot after baling. Just set them aside and do their thing. Apparently there is a fire risk if they are left in a stack. Winter feeding, the heifers ate down to the tobacco/carmelizing, pulled that chunk out of the feeders and set them aside. The calves would gnaw on them like they were candy and finish them off. didn't notice any difference in other feeding, It was more of a desert, something to do kind of thing, but not apparently bad nutritionally in any way.

    You ask for comments just saying what you call stacks are actually called blocks, your sorting blocks from the barn cause blocks are calculated to loads 7 or 8 blocks per load, you asked for comments so don’t get pushed out shape over comments. You have before over simple comments.

    • @BalesHayFarmandRanch
      @BalesHayFarmandRanch  Před 9 měsíci

      Thanks! I guess a lot can be missed in text. It’s difficult for me to know if someone is being serious, a jerk, know it all. Every area does things differently. The machine that stacks the hay for instance has several slang names, and they are specific for the area. Everyone in our area calls the blocks, stacks. If I told someone here, there are 8 blocks ready, no one would know what that meant. Specially in our area, we call them stacks. A friend of mine in CO calls them rick, a rick of hay. So where you are they are blocks, my friend calls them ricks, and we call them stacks. So it’s not that anyone is wrong or right, it’s all about the area you are in. I appreciate most comments. I just like everyone to be respectful.
