Why Gran Turismo Sport is not in the rain comparison?

Racing Video Games next time upload in 60fps, your comparison is a bit pointless otherwise as all games except driveclub operate at that framerate. They look odd otherwise, in addition go higher than just 1080 it's not 2014 anymore.
donnieb I'll see what I can do next time, but frame rate is really not the point of these comparisons. We're comparing graphics & weather. There are plenty of detailed frame rate analysis out there (DF) if you're into that.

Forza 7 runs at twice the frame rate and 4x the resolution and still looks better. Driveclub is fine but it's not even close to best-in-class anymore.

On Driveclub I parked up in the rain and fell asleep listening to the rain hitting the windscreen. That game transcends driving games. It has added benefits as a relaxation aid!

Andy Raposo Rubio Actually I'm not sure about the 30fps limiter, but it has both a day-night cycle and dynamic weather, and the cars become a lot more just with the season pass (which is now around 10€, 25€ for the full game and the season pass). Career and Online are just racing (you know, it's a racing game), the handling is actually a bit weird, but keep in mind that driveclub has never tried to sell as a simulator. That being said, I think Driveclub was impressive for a 2014 game, good and enjoyable gameplay and graphically astonishing (it's still the better looking racing game, even compared to these new ones).

3 years since Driveclub was released and still no other game released after 2014 can even match the engine sounds and weather effects.
in order for Driveclub to achieve these graphics it's locked at 30 fps and has 12 cars max on the track. if every racing game was like this it would have equal-better graphics. but developers know that 60 fps is the best for a racing game, so they make sacrifices in graphics to achieve 60 fps. GT Sport will not add dynamic weather and day-night in order to get 60 fps. and 12 cars on the track is very low. Forza 7 has 24(dunno if it has more), and PCars 2 has 30+
You're talking about framerate when my opinion is about what the video is about, VISUALS, learn to read.
i know how to read just fine. you need to learn to understand what people write. i talk about framerates cause it's a major factor for graphics. you can't have whatever epic graphics you want at let's say 300 fps. it's impossible. do you think that Driveclub can have the graphics it has and be 60 fps? ofc not. otherwise it wouldn't be locked at 30. it would be 60 fps. being locked at 30 fps gives room for better graphics. Forza 7 which is 60 fps, the room for graphics isn't as big as Driveclub. they have to decrease graphics to get 60 fps. developers choose 60 fps over 30 fps and better graphics(and i'm glad for that), so it will take a few years to see graphics equal or better than Driveclub

You're ignoring the fact that Driveclub has the bigger maps with full rich quality. No other driving game has Driveclub's level of detail maps. Give Driveclub Forza's maps and they can go 60 fps. Driveclub texture quality isn't even anything special, the reason why Driveclub is winning is 'cause of realism. Their lighting is absolutely superb.

PCars 2 has uncapped fps and more than 30 cars on the track. they did compromise in graphics for gameplay, which is better. sure Driveclub has good graphics due to reasons i mentioned, but the physics, etc are worse than shit. Richard Burns Rally from *2004* has better physics, force feedback, etc. Driveclub is released 10 years after RBR and it has worse physics, ffb, etc. what a fucking joke
Do you know that WRC Rally Evolved in 2005 which developed by the same team who developed Driveclub has almost better physics than RBR? It's just about which kind of realism Evolution wants. And that's more clever than Project Cars which has an bugdet version of physical model of rFactor.

30FPS is from the very nature of console limitations. It is an unfair comparison. If you have 12 skilled players or AI, doesn't matter how many cars you really have on the track, in terms of enjoyment and challenge. If anything, 30+ cars is more of a nuisance in tight corners.
That was their aim, I have Driveclub it's great graphically but the physics just don't do it for me

DriveClub still Stands tall, against these new racing games. Just shows how much the developers were pushing the limit way, way back then. Bad move for Sony to scrap this game.... Would of loved to see how they could of taken this game to the next stage. Also The developers really did listen to the community and made improvements every month to this great game.
Really stupid move by Sony to close the internal studio who made Driveclub, that game was asking for a sequel, it would have looked better than any racer on console or Pc and would have polished everything that is bad on the first one. Instead they put that money on Poliphony and released a halfassed Gran Turismo. smh
Honestly, I think choosing that studio was a bad idea in general. Not that they made a bad game but that was the team behind Motorstorm and we already have enough games trying to take the spot for the best Racing Sim. Motorstorm 1 and Pacific Rift are still the best racing games of that gen by far to me and a great deal of others. Instead this got them shut down. Both Driveclub and Motorstorm are dead in the water now, and now all money is on Gran Turismo which I heard Sport was... Pretty damn bad. Also heard Forza 7 is one of the worst entries for its franchise too sadly.

Oh I know, I was looking at it as soon as the trailer dropped. It doesn't look like it's going to live up to that level Motostrom did but I'm sure as hell going to get it and try it, I'm really intrigued by it. I honestly thought it was a sequel to one of the old San Francisco RUSH games at first.

Driveclub still somehow has by far the best weather effects in any racing game - Possibly even any game, period. 30fps or 60fps, what you see on screen is absolutely amazing, even 3 years later.

Evolution studios housed artists. What they achieved was ground-breaking and was the reason I (and I'm sure many others) chose PS at that generation leap. Credit when credit is due, they were incredibly skilled and should be acknowledged accordingly.

PC and PC2 always felt derpy on a gamepad in the same way GT does... If your on a gamepad (most of us are) your better off with Forza, to the layman its more enjoyable with 'looser' physics which actually feel more convincing on a gamepad.
Driveclub is extremely arcady... But that's why I have both GT and DC ;)
All those games are not simulation, they try to be, just try Assetto Corsa and you'll see what is a real simulator..

Not sure you've driven in a Florida downpour going 65+, but I can assure you water pools quickly and sloshes easily. It is definitely not static like the other games.

If you raced in any of Driveclub's circuits you would die in case of a crash but since it's a game they can focus on making it loook good to eye.

I agree with you. Being a PC Gamer, I only once really craved for a PS4 when I saw this game. But couldn't justify buying the console altogether for just one game.
I see where you're coming from. But you know what? 30fps doesn't look bad at all, 60 would improve it further still, the sense of movement is already thrilling.
I don't mind the lack of cars honestly as the curvy tracks/roads they're running on, aren't that wide at all. And 12 cars are few you say? I ain't looking or driving all those cars right? I'm just driving my own and focusing on my own. The numbers game is less important than the fun factor. Fewer friends, beer cold right? It's not taking itself too seriously, and that's fine. Its one beautiful game whose flaws are overshadowed by those rain drops swaying right and left as you turn. That's what I love. Peace!

Only three games i know that are simulation game including the graphics but still graphics would still lose to arcade game, that are Project Cars 2, Automobilista 2, and Assetto Corsa Competizione.

You forgot physics. An arcade racing game (Driceclub) requires less processor power compared to a sim-arcade (GT Sport and Forza 7) or a complete simulator (Project CARS 2, Assetto Corsa, etc.).
For a 3-year-old game, Driveclub still looks on-par/better than today’s big racing games.

Question: How are you able to rotate the views like that, like a head movement while in the drivers seat? I have Driveclub (VR) and Gran Turismo Sport, and I only know about the left, right, and back buttons on the d-pad, but those kinda suck because the movements are jerky. How do you get the smooth subtle left/right head movements?
I gently use the right stick on a controller. But it depends on the game how smoothly head movement is implemented.
Driveclub does it very smooth (not sure about the VR version), but in GT sport while moving the right stick it tends to snap to a few preset cameras if I remember correctly. Unless you touch it very lightly.
The PSVR versions might have a headtracking feature if you use the camera, but i'm not sure.
Ahhh gotcha. Looks like I'm not able to do it because I'm using a wheel (G29), and that's too bad because the smooth head movements look beautiful and real-life. I also saw them on GT-S when they play the mid-game demos at the menu screens. Too bad they don't build it into the regular game as an option. I haven't done DC-VR in awhile so I don't know, am mainly doing GT-S and a little PC-2 as well. Correction: DC-VR has it as a natural element to the game. But I like to play flat-screen some of the times and would like it then too.

DriveClub's rain effects are all in how wet they make the windshield look, track detail and world effects are nonexistent besides the wet pavement.

It's impossible to compare Driveclub with Project Cars, Forza or even Gran Turismo, in terms of sound quality and coercivity or mechanical simulation, but even if Driveclub can't compete against those others, it's still a good and really immersive game.

Weirdly enogh Driveclub seems to be the only game here that has a steering wheel that actually rotates more than 180 degrees... I don't get it.
Thats probably since the other games are simulating racing wheel setups which reduce the amount of turning required. overall unless you are going through a particularly slow section of a track you don't really need to turn the steering wheel much in race conditions
Nope, Forza and GT (at least until GT6 and according to this video it seems to be the same in GTS) only have 180 degrees visual wheel rotation and project cars 2 as well if you're playing with controller (which is weird, I want proper animation even if I don't play with wheel).
I suppose it's so that the steering would look smoother with controller and/or they didn't want to make a more complex animation (the driver doesn't need to change hand position when turning hard)
I know but it should rotate fully when using a controller too like Assetto Corsa does for example. Looks and feels better to me. It's just an animation that depends on how much the wheels are turned so the device you're using shouldn't affect it.

People saying that Driveclub only wins in terms of graphics, but the gameplay is way more fun now days, as there is way more content that has been introduced since the game launch in 2014. It has fun multiplayer lobbies which are full, the driveclub challenges mode which is great fun.
Most people just played the tour when it was first released and thought..."ugh boring" and didn't have any patience or time to get used to the physics, which get better as you get used to the game.
It's the perfect Simcade which allows you to drive with style while maintaining speed . Most underrated game ever!

Finding that GT S takes the cake. FM7 look beautiful in the rain though, especially lighting effects. Driveclub looked solid aswell. I don't get the hate between the games though, they are all beautiful.

Please get more game reference before make a statement. "No game match it". Project Cars 2 came with dynamic weather with LiveTrack, that's mean the road not instantly wet by rain or snow for physically wise.
Its amazing how amazing Driveclub still looks.... weather is the best by far comparing to the rest, and gameplay was 10/10 too... still love that game

I have been a GT fan since GT3 and had all of them. But DriveClub seems to be one of those games you must have on your computer just to enjoy what a GREAT car race game should be.

Forza second but the sound is really annoying and fake. Seems they just recorded exhaust notes and used it for everything. Especially the cockpit view which sounds terrible. Cars don't sound like that unless the exhaust is mounted on the dash :S
Gt sport the only accurate cockpit sound with transmission whine and softer exhaust notes but the exterior views unfortunately still lacking grunt.

Tell us more about the 30 fps when we're talkin' about the graphics.. Fucking retards. You wanna know why Driveclub is 30 fps? Maybe look at their maps. Driveclub's maps are filled with detail, look at these other racing games. Forza 7 copy pasted their maps from Forza 6. And they're racing levels with the road and barely any environments. Then Forza 7 got that desert map that is mostly about the color nothing going on in the map.
30 fps and you dont even notice. I've never ever seen or heard someone who played Driveclub, complaining about the 30 fps. Its rock solid 30 fps. You dont notice it, only when you were playing something at 60 fps. Only forza tryhard fanboys complain about other games to justify that forza has the best graphics, which in reality, isnt even close.
And to make it worse for you, Evolution Studios, the guys behing Driveclub, are now under Codemasters, working on a new IP, probably the same style and goals as Driveclub. Im so hyped to see superb graphics and state-of-the-art sound design.

Sony f'd it up RIGHT. Huge potential , could've been a hit. They don't even look after Multiplayer anymore, but the event presets are still auto switched every other day, and plenty of people on it. Still having lots of fun and exhilarating races all the time :)
DRIVECLUB-is-timeless I feel you man. At the very least, Sony should've given Evolution Studios another chance and let them develop more racing games. Think about it: remakes of the MotorStorm games compatible with PS VR would've been awesome! I mean, why Sony would just completely shut down such a talented studio is beyond me. As an Xbox guy, I honestly wish there was some way Evolution Studios could've become a 3rd party multiplatform developer and bring their games to a wider audience, recouping any losses incured from Driveclub's sales. That would make more sense than simply shutting down the studio altogether, you know?

Anyway, Evo people are now with Codemasters and they're working on a new racing game which will be multi platform, but there're no any further details yet :)

It's amazing how far ahead of its time DriveClub was considering it is still the best looking and sounding (best as in most realistic) console racing game ever made. Gran turismo is close but honestly they still could never compete with DC. Sony definitely should have the guys over at evo studios help GT with the graphics engines and sound and then have GT do the physics and gameplay. GT's sound did get much better though as well.
