2JFK by Sergio Lombardo - May 9, 2023

The Italian Cultural Institute, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy, presented “2JFK by Sergio Lombardo”, a conversation with Italian artist Sergio Lombardo, Dr. Miriam Mirolla, professor at Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, and Dr. Mindy Farmer, historian at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C.
The conversation was an opportunity to explore the work of Sergio Lombardo and his stance when portraying high caliber figures such as former President John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK). The two portraits of JFK, currently on display in Piazza Italia at the Embassy of Italy, represented the jumping off point of the discussion, followed by a Q&A session with the public.
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Kennedy's death, the evening also intended to underline JFK’s symbolic and political relevance, as a model of charismatic leadership and a source of inspiration for today's international politics.
