tbh yeongja must be one of those people you can actually talk to and have a nice conversation with. I admire her so much!
The baby in the first concern will get sick really easily because her parents are too sanitary. She is not being exposed to germs so it will be harder for her body to fight them off. They are first time parents so I can understand their caution but there is such a thing as too much.

in essence, they are both extreme and stubborn. and while they complain, the real victim is the baby. shame she survived cancer. baby has to suffer for even longer. and i dont even wanna imagine how it will be once she grows up. obviously there will not be her life. they already decided her career.

um actually grandma 'humorously' talks about making the baby to be a trainee. most koreans who had dealt with such stubborn older generations (the generation of 'just because') can tell she isnt joking.
i can guarantee you that every guests and MCs know exactly what i am talking about.
like mother, like daughter, we can tell the mother is very much like grandma. what makes you think the mother wouldnt be just as much controlling. shes already making her house into a hazmat shelter.
i mean seriously... korean kindergarten/elementary students talks about wanting to be civil servants because that would be a stable life. thats the reality in korea. thats how much parents influence their kids.

The child is less than a year. It's you who refuses to be open minded. I can tell you don't have a sense of humor because the grandma was clearly joking. And although the daughter and grandmother may be alike, they clearly have opposing views. Caring for your child's health, especially your first baby, is pretty normal. That doesn't necessarily mean you're going to make their home into a cage and decide their future

The mother in the second concern has beautiful children. Her son is handsome and her daughter is so freaking cute and pretty. With this concern, I understood both sides. Mom feels like she's not part of her son's life and is missing out. The son lived a good portion of life so far under rules and so, he's trying to make up for it now by being free and having fun. They just need to find a compromise that works for both sides.
The mom in the first concern is a first time mom, the unnecessary worries and overreactions are pretty normal. She won't be as uptight when she has her second or third child.
lol, the first concern reminded me of my aunt's best friend who told us stories about when she had her first baby, she used cloth diapers and made her own baby food.By the 3rd baby, she didn't have time to make her own baby food and regular diapers were way more convenient for her. I remember one time we went camping with her family, she just handed me the baby and took the two older kids to take a shower. I was so surprised I didn't have the chance to say anything and I was just waiting outside for my aunt to finish showering.
I understand the mother in the second concern. My uncle used to be like that when he was younger. He would always go out and rarely comes home. If my grandma stops him then he'll try to leave at night. My grandma told me that she just wants to have to nice meal or a conversation with him. That's all she wanted. Made me realize that I should always spend my best times with my mom.

I'm the same way, but everyone's different! Some people are more energetic in social situations. Some people (like me) just feel exhausted by them.

In the third concern, instead of going to diet clinics, the sister should focus on her mental health and use that money to see a psychiatrist since most eating disorders stem from issues with mental health.
I relate way too much to the last concern. Growing up my sister was always the thin and pretty daughter while I was the fat and dark daughter. My mother would openly call me fat and tell me that I needed to lose weight. That just caused me to eat more and gain more weight. This continued throughout my life into college. I gained even more weight when my grandparents who took care of me passed away months from each other. One day I made the decision to lose weight for me and not my family. Over they years I lost over 40 pounds. But whenever my mom stresses me out I gain weight again. Right now I'm trying to lose the weight I put on due to stress. I love Youngja because she really understands the viewer and puts herself in their shoes! Good luck to the girl from the last concern 👍
And good luck to you!! I hope you find the happiness away from the stress due to your mother's nags or other stresses in life :)) but I'm sure you look pretty anyway and pretty personality wise so don't stress too much about losing weight either :D

I don't think that there is anything wrong with being dark. However growing up in a society that says otherwise really messed up my psyche growing up. Now I know my skin is beautiful but back then I didn't.

i love youngja so much, her words are actually the wisest for me, especially during the third concern, the girl's behavior was quite leading to (or already) an eating disorder and dealing with it can't be done with just a 15-30 minute talk even just for one session but her words were straightforward but calm. i hope somehow she gained even the littlest bit of self esteem/ self love from this.
I personally have to agree with the grandma in the first concern. If they protect the baby like that, she is going to end up being really sensitive and she could get really sick when she gets exposed to things she's not used to. I mom and grandma uses it chew the food first and then they would give it to me. I am thankful to say that I grew perfectly healthy and that I'm not sensitive at all.

In my opinion,playing in mud for example,yes it's very good for the immune system and the mother exaggerates quite a bit. She will learn with her 2nd child. Feeding a child food containing too much sugar is not. We live in 2017 and we have more knowledge.Why should it go to waste? My parents wanted to spoil me as a child and I ate too much sugar. I struggled with my teeth, since I was a young teenager. I see people feeding their 3 year old McDonald. Children don't know.Honestly, food is to help us grow healthy. Now, it's the perfect time to discipline her on the matter.

I generally agree, but I do think the grandma needs to stop feeding the baby sugary food. I know a baby (3 yo) who was always getting any food she wanted. At this age, her teeth have turned brown and she throws tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants. Problem is, she lives in a house with 9 adults (it's a large house, large family, grown up kids). At least one of them will give in to her demands...

The last segment just broke my heart. Like yeonja said its not the weight that is the main problem. The issue stems from her childhood memories with her father making fun of her. When her dad made belittling comments about her body, her mentality and confidence took a toll. The only way for her to relieve the stress brought on by her parents was eating. I am 100% she will meet a guy that will love her for who she is inside and out. She was unlucky for meeting a guy who made fun of her. There is no need for her to lose any weight for someone else! Body positivity is the most important! As long as she loves herself, everything else will naturally fall into place.

In fact, both sides end up having problems on both sides of the families (I can see where both mother and daughter were in the first concern, mother and son in the second concern, and the sisters in the third concern...)... This is like the one of the times I wish things work out for everyone that appeared in this episode! :)

Damn, man, this episode was heavy. Especially the last story. I can relate so much and I've always felt the same about Yeongja. Hearing all the encouragement from the hosts and guests... it gave me hope. Even though they weren't saying it to me directly, it resonated within me. Thank you so much for everything you guys do. You truly do help people, even those that don't get the chance to be a guest. From the bottom of my heart, I love each and every one of you and I'm so thankful that you exist
In the diet concern the daughter was not fat when she was young, she looked healthy and not over weight more medium. He father however was horrible, my sister was bigger younger and got called out but my father never did anything so horrible, I hope she can get over the emotional scars some how.
Honestly I feel like they shouldn't put all the blame on the girl during the third concern. Yes it's unfair that she's wasting a shit ton of money trying to lose weight yet gain it all back. But it is partially her family's fault as well, she clearly has emotional trauma, especially when her own parents force to fast. Coming from a similar experience, I can tell that she is struggling because she knows it's unhealthy but she can't help it, the food not only relieves stress but also helps her forget the times when they force to stop eating. It is both the family and her fault and they need serious counseling.
On the second concern the son spent most of his life alone she got used to it I do think it's a worry cause when the mom gets older he might not see his son anymore as he is used to live without her, I hope he can spend more time with his mom cause I understand that moments are valuable for moms T.T

For the people who don't love themselves here is something you can try.
I didn't love myself and I don't love myself fully now but it's better than the past years, so what I did was to look in the mirror and watch out for the things I love/like about my face and then I said "You look pretty" or "I love you" or "You are talented" and repeated it while I looked myself in the eyes. At first it's awkward but you'll slowly like yourself more, so give yourself compliments it really helps. You can use this method to motivate yourself too, feel free to use it :)
And remember, no matter what you hate about yourself, someone else loves it. You are pretty in your own way and talented in your own way so don't try to be someone you are not

I really don't like the diets and ideal bodies of korea, that news caster was talking about her diet and how she starves herself and everyone accepted that and thought it was ok, or when the mom said that her only flaw was being chubby. People should love themselves for who they are and people shouldn't judge who they can date based on their weight. As long as they eat healthily that's all that matters

The second concern is mad relatable. I was raised really independent to the point where I never cared for my parents at all. It's good as far as independence goes, but it permanently scars that parent-kid bond.
The 2nd concern mom needs to wake up and accept that her son has grown and not the little boy she remembers. His younger self won't be back anymore. She just have to accept that she can't control him the way she wants and needs to readjust her way of dealing with the adult him. This for her own benefit or she'll be stressed out the whole time.

I relate wayyy too much with the last concern. Am obsessed with losing weight. My self esteem is on the floor. Like others i also believe that slim is beautiful. Growing up my mom and family twased me alot about my weight. My mom always says i wont get married since am fat and that must be true. Am turning 25 on march 1 and everyone of my cousins is already married except me. It has stressed me out alot.

As for the first concern.. I used to work at a daycare at Malaysia. And when a baby is 6 months old the parent started to feed their kid plain poridge until they are about 1 and a half. Then the started to teach their kids eat soft rice until they are 4. So when they 4 they can eat various type of food.. When their are 7-8 parents start teaching kids eat spicy food..

That first concern was wildt LMAO I understand the grandma knows what she's doing and she probably isn't hurting the baby too much but that's not the way her daughter wants to raise her child so she should accept it! Also be prepared to accept if her granddaughter doesn't wanna be an idol in the future too LMAO The 2nd concern had great points on both sides. I understand the mom just wants to see her son she missed out on his childhood & that probably hurts but he has been kept under lock and key most of his life and wants to do what pretty much anyone our age wants to do: go out and make some memories even get a lil mischievous! I mean he's a tall hot athlete with hot friends (seriously his friend is model hot wtf) at least its only one girl he's seeing deep in the night! He seems like he's got a good head on his shoulders I think once they each notice how the other truly feels it'll be fine a little empathy can go a long way! The 3rd concern was tough to watch. I love that they focused on the sister's reasoning for her weight complex more than her actual weight. Her father should really be ashamed of himself for saying that to his daughter! A father is a girl's first contact with a man & saying things like that could've really built up some resentment toward all men especially the ones she dates. I hope she'll learn that her dad was dead wrong for how he treated her and that she is beautiful and has so much to more to her than her weight. If she begins to love herself & still wants to lose weight I hope she does it healthily! Exercise while eating bad food doesn't work and NEITHER DOES STARVING YOURSELF that is literally so unhealthy! You need to excerise AND eat nutritious food! You may have cheat days but they're only days! Regulate your diet and keep dancing! I hope she'll begin to look in the mirror & see the pretty girl that we do!

First concern, there's certainly more issues besides the baby going here like the lack of mutual respect between mother/daughter the way they talk to and about each other. Also, lack of knowing boundaries and not getting on the same page on how to raise this baby. I truly believe it takes a village to raise a child it should always be what's best for the child without injecting adult drama. Second concern, not alarming the son learned to live alone you can't recapture his childhood. The son just needs to be a little bit considerate it's still his parents home participate with family won't be a bad thing. But I can understand mother's concern as a parent you always worry about your child no matter how old they get that they may encounter the wrong person/situation in today's violent society.

If you are concerned about your child why don't you raise it by yourself? When it comed to rules the mom and dad says exactly what the child has to do but when it comes to raising the child they just leave their child at their parents. Just be responsible for your own child that whay you can raise your child like you want. But I admit this grandmother is al little bit extreme.

My mom told me my granny did the same to me XD I never drunk formula because both of my Grannies fed me real food XD Apparently, I was stuck in the hospital for almost a month after birth and they didn't feed me so my grandma gave me chicken and coke XD My mom was pissed lol but no matter how many times my mom told her not to she fed me real food when she watched me. I can see why it's a concern but I turned out pretty fine.

Dude, I do not understand the first time mother's over sensitive nature in the first concern. I understood the breast feeding part because that is really her choice but her mom is not stupid. Her mom has raised children before and they turned out fine. I ate hot sauce out of a jar when I was one and turned out fine. Now I love spicy foods. They did a study on peanut allergies and if the allergy is not genetic it is 90% of the time because the child was never introduced to the food and had a sensitive body. People who over protect their children most of the time makes a very sensitive child to new foods. I understand if you want them to be healthy and not over eat but eating a few cookies or a small piece of cake will not kill that child. Babies are going to get sick and this builds up their immunity to diseases and how strong their body is. Take advice from your mother and put a bit of a twist on it but don't be so sensitive

In regards to the first concern, I think the grandma is quite irresponsible. I do, however, think that the cleanliness on the moms part is a bit much, but that doesn't mean it's okay for the grandma to be so childish as to give her things that can potentially hurt such a small child.

the mother of the mother of the first concern and the mother of the second concern are just frustrating me and annoying. Give your kids freedom to do what they want and what they judge is right for themselves.
