What I give the this game credit is when you have James going into the fog and trying to fight off monsters I feel the team Behind Silent Hill 2 might've took some ideas from the Film The fog
I think it’s because the voice actress playing Mary genuinely found the script moving and it made her cry. To this day, one of the saddest narratives I have experienced. I don’t think it needs a remake.
well resident evil 4 remake apparently nailed it, whether og fans want it or not, a remake is on the way, so it´s best if we all just hope they nail it with sh2 too
I JUST WANT THE OLD VOICE ACTORS! The story was good and all but the voice acting SOLIDIFIED the story for me. Taking it from Great to a Masterpiece. I hope the remake can do this justice, people are too negative, it weighs down the devs.
The human emotion of pushing someone away but really wanting them to stay during your hardest times. This game is one of a kind. The VA for Mary did an amazing role.

They are terrible when it comes to writing about mental illness, their solution is always to make the person feel terrible and then tell them to unalive themselves for existing. Blair witch and the medium both notoriously had these narratives also they literally ripoff other games as well, lot of videos that expose them.
The more I play this game and pay attention to the details I missed when I played this as a teenager, the more I appreciate the incredible work behind this. The script, voice acting and all round gameplay. There's no way any remake could come close to this masterpiece.

When in fact Mary was dead for maybe a day and in the backseat or trunk of his car at the start of the game.
I Feel like this is me as I am a hemodialysis patient and it is just getting to me mentally and I've become a miserable loser inflicted upon my partner, family, and friends.

Illness sucks, but it’s not something we chose. Sadly, we have to try and stay strong for ourselves and others. It’s important to find meaning in your life. Sometimes when you don’t feel like you have a purpose or meaning, it makes things so much more difficult. You have purpose and meaning. You’ve got to realize what they are. You have value to your friends and family and make the world a better place. Start believing in yourself and find comfort. The Scriptures can really help too. There's a reason why Mary doesn't get mad at him in the Leave and In Water ending. Though what James did was still a murder and we all know that's wrong
Some of the lines in this game are a little on the goofy side, but Mary/Marias voice actress absolutely knocked every line out of the park. Coming back after listening to the remake lines, they sound like someone reenacting a story, where as these original line reads feel like a real person

I can't imagine an ending where James' guilt doesn't kill him. say he ran to the end of the hall, knowing he was hated, and quite guilty for what he had done... but staying... now he would feel worse for leaving her. I don't know when I played the game I never really felt that James was convinced he would find her or redemption. the water ending is sad but the most understandable.

I think this scene has a lot of weight and means a lot. But it proves one thing. The stilted voice acting was purposefully done. People are always like "Haha Silent Hill 2 has weird voice acting!" Look at the first time we meet Angela. But compare that scene to this one. The conversation between James and Mary most likely did not take place in SH itself. They are able to talk normal. In SH it could be the town is messing with peoples heads. Or ... just ignore the newance i guess😊

The creative choice to make everyone’s vocal performance sound very awkward and distant but Mary sound insanely lifelike was pure genius.
