@@jaysrealreefuk Happy Halloween. I am on day 11 of my cycle all seems to be going ok, I have a good amount of nitrites and some nitrates appearing. I am struggling with keeping my salinity steady though, it seems to creep up a bit, it's at 1.26 now and have brought it back from 1.26 to 1.25 several times by adding RODI water. I am putting this down to dissolving the salt in the tank and having some crystals through the sand that had not dissolved or something. It's a young tank though and I think it will settle soon. Got bigger issues with my socks just now and it does not look like you can remove them without undoing the pipe work trying to think of a plan B just now. Not sure I will make the live stream this Friday, will try though. I have my parents visiting, I have been on the last 3 live shows though.

Well done Jay, one thing I over looked for a long time was the fluoride and sulphur levels which only a few ICP tests test for. These two are fundamental for coral health. My euphyllia have never looked so good since getting these levels right. All the best

Hey Jay love the video as always, I've recently upgraded my red sea nano to the red sea nano peninsula, everything was a straight swap so just needed the tank, it feels like it gives you much better dimensions to work with and the swap only took a few hours!

It's going really well, about a month in, I felt the deeper shape of the peninsula made for a more natural Scape, now I've got acros up high, LPS/softies down at the front. I brought the desktop version and didn't know it was only 90L (it's 3cm less hight than max) but doesn't have the power module on the back. I brought a reef flare anyway and the return pump is upgraded so I didn't need the module. I got it second hand but only had 6 months of use so it was basically new anyway, it was a steal. Swap was easy, I just stuck everything in buckets and cleaned the sand in the old tank with some new salt water before transferring it over. Nitrate went from 10 to 25 ish for a few weeks but started dosing carbon

Thank you for watching mate. For nutrients export I use the stock skimmer, stock filter sock 250nm and filter floss in the return chamber. Plus water changes of 10 percent every 2 to 3 weeks, but the tank is 3 years old now. I've made a video on the channel showing how I run my nano reef and it includes the filtration. Hope that helps. That is a dam good question. For the major elements, such as alkalinity, calcium and magnesium you have to test regularly and then dose a set amount so that your parameters are at the same level for that time of the day. I tested mine at 6pm when I was getting them balanced. So my Alk was 8.4dkh, Calcium 450ppm and Magnesium at 1450ppm at 6pm each day. When your corals get larger or you add more.corals they take up more elements so then you need to up the dosing amount. For the minor elements like the iodine, manganese, amino acids I use the guided amount on the bottles, , most are 1ml for every 100 litres. I always dose a little under to always be on the safe side, you can always add more, but you can't take it out with a water change. 🙂 Hope that helps mate. Another great dosing question. They will show on an ICP test, but I only send off ICPs 4 times per year (every quarter). For the aminos, manganese and iodine, I dose just below the recommended amount on the bottles. For my size tank (75 litres/ 20gallon) it works out at 1ml every 5 days into the return chamber of the sump. It's always better to add slightly less than too much in my opinion. Also these minor elements are utilised and uptaken by the corals very quickly, matter of days boosting their health. Hope that helps. I have mine on the 'else' setting (completely random) on the lowest speed setting otherwise it blows the corals away. Seems to work well with the return flow and the Tunze 6040 wavemaker. Hope that helps. Happy New Year mate ✨🥂

Actually you’re wrong frags rags can give you your frags more light (par) due glass reflection depending on your lighting quality trust me the higher the lower par just trust me. Check par

Vibrant colours represent healthy zooxanthellae, obviously within reason, you don't want to buy a bleached out torch. Thank you for watching the channel and opening up a discussion.
@@jaysrealreefuk for sure, but on the flip side, a brightly coloured torch, with poor handling (and a small flesh band like you mentioned) also would be considered a unhealthy torch. You can always get colour back (within reason) but often if a torch has been poorly handled in the supply chain, its almost impossible to bring it through to full health based on my experience.

With the tank only Penisula version, do you know if you can screw the power module to the back?

Vibrant colours represent healthy zooxanthellae, obviously within reason, you don't want to buy a bleached out torch. Thank you for watching the channel and opening up a discussion.
@@jaysrealreefuk for sure, but on the flip side, a brightly coloured torch, with poor handling (and a small flesh band like you mentioned) also would be considered a unhealthy torch. You can always get colour back (within reason) but often if a torch has been poorly handled in the supply chain, its almost impossible to bring it through to full health based on my experience.
