Okay, but I’m getting blasted by water coming out of those little holes. I don’t want to get soaked every time I use the hose.

What they don't tell you is that they don't last long. They don't take into consideration that hot and cold weather destroys the internal parts and you can't service it! You'll discover that something is wrong with the breaker when it leaks and sprays or that your garden hose water pressure is low!

How the water goes back to the house if the water valve is off?

Its more safety sally nonsense for the liberals who can't think for them selves , and like being told what to do in their homes

It won't, not if the water valve is off. The thing is meant to protect if you have it hooked up to something pressurized with the valve open.

Dude, they want to remove it so that they can replace it. These things will leak at sometime in the future.

I replaced the vacuum valve and now when shutting off the hose the water no longer sprays out the tiny holes.. Does that mean it's defective?? Because I replaced 2 of them and neither spray out when shutting the valve off with the hose on

Wait so when you shut off the valve, water can get past it and into your water system with out this? Isn’t the valve closed preventing the water from getting in?

Eventually you have to replace it in about 5 years because it’s worn out. Then you will have a problem with taking it out because I see your set screw broken off (usually it’s broken off on purpose).

BS. They are junk. If the valve is off, water cant backflow into your house.
If the valve is off, does water still come out? No? Then water cant flow the other way, either.

If the builder put one with screw broken off, drill it out then buy a new one with a set screw so I can be removed easily when it fails. Because it will fail.

They break it off on purpose it's useless it's for inspection it's very weird rare occasion where contaminated water will make it's way in the system if any it will be what's in the hose

Leave it on there, and enjoy that horrible Noise in all the pipes of your house every time you turn it on. It's Avant Guade Art! OR they can make one that prevents that problem and we'll all leave it on.
