  • Hey Everyone its Matt from Matt's RV Reviews. I am super excited because today is a video from the Hershey RV Show. I met with Freightliner Custom Chassis to talk about their s2rv chassis that was put on the new Entegra coach accolade also its on the Jayco Senica also some regenade rvs.
    This is a great chassis designed for motorhome customers and this is a short video explaining the features about it.

    The biggest difference between the s2rv and the m2 is the lack of big truck options on the s2rv. A lot of people choose a Super C because they want to know what it is like to drive a medium-duty diesel truck.
    It is really tough to lose these choices because of the inherent compromises that come with a Super C. That is your trading living space for the driving benefits. One of the big benefits of the shorter Super C over the shorter Class-a's aside from the safety is much more torque. If you are shorter than 40' in a class-a diesel pusher you can only get the weaker 6.7 Cummins (notable exception New Aire 35xx). These engines are heavy like most of the truck engines for medium-duty and up class of trucks, so this and the fact they option the heck out class-a's make them kind of a dog.
    The M2 gets big horsepower/torque engine options, a rear locker, 4wd, braking options and many more options I can not bring to mind. The height of the rear of the chassis is different on an S2rv. This is to give you much more storage underneath but this makes the cab a step down from the house portion of the unit. Practically cutting off the view through the cab of the truck when you are sitting on the sofa. That is one of the big benefits of class-a's is the view out the huge panoramic windshield.

      Agree. Nikola is working on all electric hydrogen fuel cell technology. I built my first hydrogen fuel cell when I was 16. Cummins is doing the same.

    @2:27 the question was whether there were variations in engine size in this chassis, and that was not answered. The answer is "no"; the S2RV comes only with the Cummins B6.7, unlike the related M2 which is available with either the B6.7 or the L9. The power differences mentioned are due to engine management computer programming, not engine size differences.

    Matt the best Rv reviewer found my favorite chassis!! The S2 or M2 cab gives the best vision when driving, extremely comfortable, and you can get a nice big bunk above it. Look for the Detroit Diesel engine like the DD16 at freightliner. It is to big for the M2 but cool engine. The DD13 I think is used in M2 and has about 500 horse power when turned up. For fuel economy you want the engine detuned of some of the horseys. The M2 has 2 versions and it is not if it is a 2 door or 4 door, it has to do with the hood length and slope. The smaller version is 106 larger 112 I think. It makes a difference on what engine fits and horse power. They look a little different but are still nice and small chassis for a home. There is a feature that the tow trucks use I was told it was called winch brake but it did not do any thing for the winch it lock the front axle brakes so when you winch the normal rear axles brakes was on but this gave more brakes and helped with skidding if you just winched with the brakes on. If they have it it would be great for someone dropping a boat in the water on a slimy ramp to lock front and rear axle, also if you need to park on a slope that is slippery. It may have been a jerdan feature added to the truck not sure. Hope you have a lot of fun and Be Safe!

      Given that most of the differences between the S2RV and the M2 were not properly addressed or even completely missed in this video, it's not much of a review.

    • @brianb-p6586
      @brianb-p6586 Před rokem

      The S2RV comes only with a Cummins B6.7
      The M2 106 Plus comes with a choice of Detroit DD5 or DD8, or Cummins B6.7 or L9
      The M2 112 Plus comes with a choice of Detroit DD13, or Cummins L9 or L9N
      A DD13 wouldn't make any sense for an RV on the M2 chassis unless it was towing a massive trailer.
      The difference between the M2 106 and M2 112 is the hood - the 112 is 6 inches longer and designed to accommodate larger engines and cooling systems, at the expense of worse visibility and aerodynamics. The M2 (both 106 and 112) are also available with extended and crew cabs - I think the S2RV is regular length cutaway cab only.
      The S2RV cab is essentially an M2 106 cab, but it sits lower.

    with the s2rv rear air suspension, can you achieve measurable lift for low ground clearance situations? and im guessing front is leaf spring suspension, so the same question for the front, using air bag for additional lift when rarely needed.

    It's strange to do a video about a chassis and not really show the chassis. It's all accessible, so why not move the camera to show the rear suspension that was mentioned?

    This would have been a better video if the Freightliner rep had a Mike. Terrible video to listen to. I have a Super C built on the M2 chassis. It’s great! Safer than most Class A Motorhomes. More torque and a real truck underneath that parts will always be available for.
