Thanks! I'm hoping to really utilize it's capabilities more and more in coming videos so that viewers can maybe even control the angle themselves. Still figuring that all out, though
as to the building of the MSU it is one of the 7 sisters of Moscow and it was originally designed as a large hotel complex, but when the MSU rector came to Stalin with his woes on not being able to accommodate for the growing number of students, there was a model of this building in Stalin's study and Stalin simply gave it away to the rector for the new MSU
I hadn't heard that about the hotel complex. I'll have to look into that. With the Hotel Ukraine being one of the 7 Sisters, though, it seems strange that they would have planned 2 hotels in such a style
@@russiaincontext don't forget Leningradskay, there is also sister #8 smack in the middle of Warsaw, the poles still go ballistic over it 😁
@@graywhite1529 Wow, how did I forget Leningradskay! I tried to avoid Площадь трёх вокзалов, so that's probably a big part of it)) And yeah, I know of the one in Warsaw, but I feel that's more of an "inspired by" type story. Still, they certainly aren't fans of it, nevertheless

the mound behind the wire is an emergency water supply cistern for Moscow as it situated on high ground relative to the city
I know that there is a historical cistern closer to Косыгина, but is that also the case for the area near the main building?

This is quite in depth video about MSU. I gather that you probably have something to do with education yourself. You've mentioned that you came as a student first and may have stayed to be a teacher of some kind?
No, oddly enough. I just love picking up interesting information about the places around me and exploring thoroughly

@@russiaincontext I suggest you explore Novodevichy Convent, also known as Bogoroditse-Smolensky Monastery. Besides it's beauty and rich history, it should be a good break from artifacts of only last 80 years.
Yeah, it's definitely towards the top of my list of places to hit up, so I'll bump it up based on your suggestion. Filming in the winter, in the cold is difficult for long periods of time, so it might not be super soon, but I'll prioritize it. Also, I don't remember that being any restriction on filming last time I was there, but I'll have to check; things have changed a decent amount in the last year

Bauman state technical university. Bauman specializes in hard science and engineering. So if u want to use your CS degree more in automation and engineering than Bauman could be better.

Российское университетское образование больше не приемлемо в мире, и большинство университетов Европы больше не принимают студентов по обмену из России или Беларуси. Неонацизму и диктатуре просто нет места в университетском мире.
Plenty of Russian students are still studying abroad at institutes and universities across Europe and the US, as such places typically are interested not in a student's country of birth, but their skills and intellect. Perhaps there are instances of Russians being turned away, but I'd count those as the exceptions, not the rule.
That said, I wholly agree with your final statement
@@russiaincontext Students in already existing exchange programs are something else. Purely Russian education to a degree inside Russia is what’s no longer accepted abroad. It’s only a positive feature when people can and are allowed to study in another country. From out of that we certainly get different perspectives and not only horrendous and scientifically incorrect propaganda.
