Upon immigrating to the United States, Pema Genkhang continued to embrace political advocacy in her roles with the New York State Senate and currently in the Office of New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli where she serves as a trusted advisor in the capacities of Queens Regional Director and Director of AAPI Affairs Statewide. In recognition of her service, Pema was honored with proclamations by the New York State Assembly and the New York City Council. As the sole Tibetan staffer in a New York State elected official’s office, Pema has been instrumental in ensuring that the Tibetan and Himalayan communities are adequately represented.
