Create Transparent Text with Photoshop Layer Effects

- Learn how to add transparent text to an image using layer effects in Photoshop. In a previous video , I showed you how to create transparent text using Photoshop's Blending Options. But layer effects can give you more interesting and creative results because there are so many effects to choose from!
The trick to creating transparent text with layer effects is knowing how to make the text itself transparent while keeping your layer effects visible. So once we've added our text to the image, I'll show you how to hide the text without hiding your strokes, drop shadows, glows or any other effects you've applied.

Hi everyone, Steve here. In this video, I show you how easy it is to add transparent text to an image using Photoshop's layer effects. The trick is knowing how to make your text transparent while keeping your layer effects visible. So once we've added our text, I show you how to hide the text without hiding your strokes, drop shadows, glows or other effects you've applied! The layer effects I cover in this video are Drop Shadow, Stroke and Gradient Overlay, and at the end, I show you how to enhance your transparent text even further using a Fill layer and Photoshop's blend modes! The inverse option is greyed out under select in my Photoshop app. So, I cannot add effects to text surrounding. What do I do?

@@PhotoshopEssentialsChannel It's not the online version. It's from a DVD download. When you go to the bottom and click on FX, that's nothing like mine. I click it and I get a panel of thumbnails, not options.
