Unpopular opinion: Shadow's peak (and best writing) was in Sonic 06: where he was faced with the similar promises of revenge and answers but turned them down and actively fought the villain offering them because his identity was solidified and he knew who he was: the hero the world needs but doesn't appreciate.

There was an unspeakable amount of hype I had for this boss battle when I was a kid that I still have. The way the boss theme kicks in, the camera work and the quote Shadow delivers. It screams "epic showdown." I was just upset we as players could never take advantage of the Chaos Control perk to save ourselves.

The worst thing is that I feel that same feeling, but with the generations version, I'm sorry but the reason is that Sonic generations made a big impression on me, you know man?
I never got this far as a kid bc the treasure stages sucked terribly but watching this on CZcams had me going crazy. When I eventually saw this seen for the first time bc of my own play through it felt so awarding

Forsaken_Lemon Jason’s voice solidified shadow. I like the old voice, but not as much. And Jason does a better sonic for when he’s a big more laid back and serious. That’s why I like them. I don’t think any of them are perfect, even the old voices, but in my opinion Jason did the best for these two.

On the one hand, it's nice to see a character you like return in a different piece of media. On the other, their initial story should've been their only story.
Sometimes I think Shadow in SA2 was capturing lightning in a bottle, and it was back when SEGA seemingly had the balls to kill off a major character for good.

Yeah same. I didn’t know at the time playing the game since I was hella young and when I read more about Shadow and found out that he was originally gonna be dead after SA2 from the series really hurt me lmao.
I love how Rise of Lyric took all of the character development Shadow had throughout like 5 games and just threw it in the garbage.

Shadow has more upper body strength while sonic has stronger legs. Sonic while he does not use chaos power as often he is the only one who can use chaos powers to their full effect.

Sonic approached Shadow with an ego. Shadow is taunting Sonic. The entire scene and fight is full of Shadow saying nothing but things that presses Sonic's buttons. To the point where he calls Sonic the faker for being the one comparing them in the first place while Shadow was minding his own business. And then telling Sonic he wasn't even worthy of being compared to Shadow. That Shadow was the coolest. I think at some point he even sarcastically says "Oh, that hurt." and "So you're NOT just a hedgehog". And finally "Not bad for an imposter."
I think it was mistranslation. In Japanese, he merely says “interesting”.

Sonic Vs Shadow is too epic
I cannot stand how Shadow's skating animation has been changed since SA2.
The way he moved in SA2 was fluid and natural looking. It conveyed a sense of speed very well, and lined up perfectly with the dark, mysterious vibe Shadow was supposed to have.
Shadow's current skating animation is exaggerated and unnatural. It looks ridiculous, in my opinion. He doesn't look (or feel, when playing as him) like a perfect rival to Sonic anymore, because his skating animation looks so...bad...
Shadow the hedgehog 🦔 is my favorite anti villain in the Sonic universe voiced by my all time favorite actor the one and only Jason Griffiths since he became the voice for both Sonic and Shadow in the Sonic X series and in Sonic 06 and Sonic and the Black Knight with Shadow as Sir Lancealot which was Jason’s last outing voicing both the characters really hope he reprises his role of Shadow in the upcoming Sonic movie 3 🤞👍🖤

Sonic the hedgehog 2006 kept shadow and Sonic's design almost intact, and I loved that, it was basically sonic adventure 3, but as we all know, the game was incredibly bad.
