Can’t listen to this one without waterworks from my eyes. My mother was abused by my father every day of their marriage. I remember 8 year old me crying and singing along with her to this song every time she tried to leave him not understanding fully the pain and fear she experienced. Finally the morning of my brother’s 8th birthday she somehow got in contact with my aunts and they waited until my father left for work and we were told to pack whatever we could fit in garbage bags and that morning we finally left. 2 days later when we arrived in Minnesota at my grandma’s house on my 10th birthday my mother filed for divorce and was free. My birthday to this day is still an emotional day for me but I look at it as a day of freedom for her and spend it with her every year to relflect on what happened.

I remember almost every kid in high school thinking she was just the coolest person in history when this came out in the early 90s. It's hard to believe she was 54 in this. I don't think even death could age this soul. What a beautiful voice and spirit.
This is not her most known song but it is one of, if not the most important because it signified her rebirth!! This is when she found her strength and courage and nothing stopped her! I grew up with Tina. Her music was the back drop of so many good and bad times in my life! She inspired me! So sorry you left us but your light will never be extinguished. RIP Tina T.

This was always my favorite song of hers, too. She seemed like she'd found such peace in life by the time this came out, and it shined through in her music. lol I remember my high school friends and I (I was 16 when this came out) were starstruck at this album and video. Like all stupid kids, we saw some artists as "too old to be doing this." But Tina Turner? She could do what she wanted. She was still cooler than us no matter how old she got, and we knew it.

When I turned 50, I figured that my best years were behind me and that it was too late to pursue my goals. But watching Tina and seeing her energy has made me realize that it's not over and that some of my best years may lie ahead of me. (12/23). I lost my husband last year (9/22). I will admit to feeling discouraged. And I admit that it kind of delayed my plans a little. Losing him was like losing my right arm. But I would read the comments that you all have left and I felt hopeful and encouraged. Plus, my daughter said "mom you've got to live your life". Thank you everyone. Your comments remind me to never give up!❤❤

I had almost forgotten about this gem of a song! Hearing it immediately took me back to 1993, the year I turned 16 and started driving. This song was all over the radio and the video got frequent play on the music channels. I have always considered What's Love Got To Do With It my favorite Tina Turner song, but I'll be damned if this one isn't a very close second.
Divorced single mom here, I had the courage to leave my abusive ex and this song got me through - I had hope, strength and courage to live another day. To fight. I feel so connected to Tina and always will, she maybe gone but she left us with so much to go forward in our lives. It gets better 💕😭 I cry because I never got the chance to hug her and tell her how she got me through when I didn’t have much left but somehow I know she is at peace knowing that she saved so many of us with her music

Is 6.30am in Scotland and im on the precipice, I want to let go too much talking 😢 too many names Ann’s insults, disrespect- not physical all mental and emotional abuse…..I miss you Ms Turner you are now an incredible part of history an icon and still helping people today with the legacy you left behind 💔 I was born in the 80s so I was fortunate enough to see the times you were happy in your career. I heard this song recently for the first time in easily 20 years! It was so wonderful to hear it again, and to listen to it again now, after the news of her passing. She’s such an icon and an inspiration! May she rest in peace and be reunited with her son, too ❤️🙏🏻
My grandma loved this song. She related to it so much. I know that now being an adult going through life myself. This was her idle. Her strength. Her struggle. Her perseverance. She was and is my grandmother. I cried knowing my grandmother loved this women so much. God bless you Tina. You’ve done well. Rest in peace.
LoL my mom use to play this song when I was a kid in 1993. I played it for my girlfriend in Jr college and her toxic ass didn't like it because this song yelled at her.
