vice you need to do more short documentaries on photographers!
Hear Hear!
Could you imagine a Vice documentary, with their style and creativity, on Steve McCurry?! it would be insane!
I second that. I liked this story a lot and identify with this man.. plus it doesn't hurt that he's a Nikon guy.
@@AJ-jj1gs that hes a nikon guy?....that is the cringiest thing I have heard in a long time.
@@josephv7899 ever owned a Nikon? or a good piece of Nikkor glass ? if not just curious, what do you shoot with? (I know its hard to tell tone through youtube text so to clarify, I am not trying to argue or attack you in anyway. I like hearing other people's perspectives and reasoning)
This is what makes youtube so cool. I would have NEVER seen any of this story without it. Very cool.
Exactly.
old photography magazines used to produce this kind of content at this level
THIS is living. THIS is photography. Humbling as hell.
4:03 i really like the moment when the cars stops and is waiting for him to take the picture.
He might be photographer as well :)
I noticed this too. I always try to stay out of the way when someone is photographing something :)
I noticed that too..
This video is huge inspiration
fajnie
This guy is awesome because he explains his passion, how it changed him, and what he wants to do with it. Really cool actually.
Not to mention his photographs are awesome too.
As a 40 year old father, ex film major drifting untethered in the sea, I may have just found what I was meant to do. Thank you for a profound video.
So inspired! Everyone when they go into street/editorial photography, they focus too much on composition rather than just getting the shot. Chris Anderson has shown that perhaps what makes a photograph is just being a part of the moment, and simply focussing on capturing it and all the emotions that come along with it.
That intro with the shutter sounds is extremely obnoxious
Yeah.
Oh really?
scrolled down just to find this comment. SO ANNOYING.
So true! It gave me incredible anxiety!
Dear @@PopMcD that intro is UNBELIEVABLE BAD! But I'm sure your little brain can't even understand that if somebody comments on it, at least there is a small chance that the editor won't do it again! Or anyway the editor would understand that it's a VERY BAD edited intro and think about it and so Erfahn is doing two things: giving value and feedback. And because we are talking about art here and editing is a form of art, the comment about the ANNOYING intro is ABSOLUTELY ON POINT ! GET A LIFE !
I know this is 10 years old but it's so good to see some photography content here, I want more more more
Very very good film, he explains his thinking process probably better than anyone I have ever heard.
This video was incredible. I love his passion of Photography when he speaks about it, you can really tell how much it means to him. Especially when he talks about the Son and Father project, I was tearing up just from the inter-cut footage of him playing with his son. Amazing.
damn the color balance in his photos are amazing!
This video makes me wanna grab my camera and go shooting!!
👍
Christopher's story is inspiring. The meaningful vision he has and how he simply put it together is what captivated me the most. It not often when you feel that kind of connection.
"I want it to feel more than just a shadow that passes by and stops a scene; I want it to feel engaged and connected." Beautiful words!
Didn't know him or his work, the magic of Social Media, I now know and appreciate his POV and work. Thank u
How thoughtful and eloquent. Makes me consider things I hadn't before. I'm very inspired! Thank you Mr. Anderson.
Chris is a great guy, I had the opportunity to work briefly with him at the studio.
2019, just a few days to a new 2020 and I found the best inspiration to be purposeful. Thanks.
Sid Kul sorry mate 2020 is shit wait for 2021
Liwi Kiwi : The years can be in any deep shit of state as we don’t have any control over it, but we can have almost good control over ourselves. All the best and yup, 2020 is shit, lesson learnt shit that could add some positive personal value to our own individual selves.
10:44 is what photography is ABOUT!!! So many great quotes in this. Thank you!
im a student in hopes to show the world to everyone through my work... i'd choose making a difference over money anyday. i love this man's work and his passion...
This guy is one of my favourite photographers, and probably always will be.
what a generous conversation. he is very vulnerable and open about his knowledge and experiences. great video
It's such a gift and delight to see the world through the eyes of a great photographer. They have the power to 'freeze' time
Man those pictures he takes are truly timeless...
That's enchanting to think about, as more and more time passes by, and context changes so too do the pictures themselves change.
So good, Anderson is really an amazing photographer.
He described what I like about photography so well I started to cry. :)
amazing!
thank you Christopher Anderson
I watched this when it was first uploaded back in 2012 but must've been a child because now rewatching this I'm truly inspired !!!!
His passion for photography is very infectious. I sometimes have the privilege of traveling for my job and I always take my camera with me. The last trip was to a small town north of Branson, Missouri where I spent the better part of a chilly Saturday afternoon wandering the streets and taking photographs. I'm sure I looked out of place to the local townspeople, but I found it exciting to experience and document a new place.
This was absolutely brilliant. He's entirely true about how photography is something to be looked at in the long term ways it affects society and it's views.
Now this is more like it VICE...actual content that is...of worth! As a Photog myself, this episode was most pleasurable.
Christoper's images made my jaw drop. Amazing work!!!
Love this Photographer.
Very inspiring! Thank you. Please do more short films on photographers.
Thanks Vice for this brilliant perspective.
Brilliant video Vice. More of this please
Nice epidsode. Is not about camera, is not about lens but is about vision. Is delight to see and capture images. That is the point.
Congratulations Vice for one more time. :)
Good points. Here is my work.czcams.com/video/IS4fvVVCrsQ/video.html
Very interesting documentary. This is exactly what I want to do with my photography. Freeze that moment in a frame, take in all the surrounding feelings which will be then kept in that picture forever.
Great Motivation for beginners and high-end photographers alike. Enjoyed.
Plus he really engages the audience and is interesting to listen to.
this dude's so well spoken
Very good little documentary. Glad I watched it.
Thank you.
I am a street photographer by hobby and passion too. What is he says in the end is exactly what fascinates me. The pictures i take, how well are they going to age? Maybe 7-8 years from now, when we will see physical changes in fashion, streets, shops, cars. When there will be a reference for comparison. I am in love with this idea.
A great photographer and his phenomenon work.
such a divine & creative being.......
Fantastic work and personal insight to photography. Thanks.
I like this guy, He is a very good person. Very inspiring doc.
i'm just starting to really get into photography..this documentary has been a real eye opener. thanks vice, keep em coming!

Good photographs of this man. I like that he combines photojournalism with documentar y and street photography.
As an aspiring photographer, or at least, a hobbyist, I love these! What an amazing guy.
I am a photographer - no pro (but serious amateur). This is an inspiring episode. More like this please.
I love it ... Each day I go out I am so excited to unload my work on my computer to edit .. I love seeing what I caught ... I am a Canadian documentary photographer
This is so inspirational!
Such an inspiration... Thank you for sharing 😍
Well done guys. More photography episodes please.
Very inspiring! Thanks for sharing. I hope you're still doing what you do. Would be interesting to see how you look at New York now a decade later.
this guy is amazing
I must attest to the fact that their is something special about Photographing NYC. It’s just a photogenic Model of a city like he said. Always something interesting and unexpected around the corner. Hard to take a bad photo of the city
nice photo shots and nice footage about the city
damn how did i miss this video, it's great.
This is very inspiring to me. I have been in love with photography since I was a child. I just don't know what to do with all of my millions of photographs... framing them wouldn't be enough for me. I feel like I need to show the world how I see things.
***** I use instagram :)
@@hales1752 you could try and produce a photobook or a zine
Real inspiration
Not even the wrose places in NYC stop this man from getting a photograph.. Thats pure passion.. I myself lived in the Bronx seen these areas where he walked and nothing should stop a photograph enjoyed this video alot.. I guess 21 people live in a box..
