She has done songs like this in the past. That's why you're beautiful -> daddy lessons -> 16 carriages. 2008, 2016, and now again in 2024. Glad people are discovering this side of Beyonce and thoroughly enjoying this sound from her.
Beyonce is doing Blues/Americana which has DEEP African American roots. And she's brought some very special heavy hitters, within the genre, along for the ride to E-DU-MUH-CATE the Folk on the history. ;)
We know of Rhiannon Giddens, who I've been following for years, who was playing the banjo on the Texas Holdem track. She's also an INCREDIBLE vocalist and all-around phenom talent.
Looking forward to March to see what other significant Black players/pioneers she'll be showcasing.
"Daddy Lessons" was a country song of hers from the album Lemonade. You should listen. The song was not accepted in the category of "Country" by the Grammys, despite it being country.
My native Houstonian heart is so warm right now. This song reminds me of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. I used to go every single year. One of the most diverse events in the nation. I love that Beyoncé is leaning into her country roots. Thanks for reacting!
The debate “Is Beyoncé country? “ is in itself racist. No one asks: Is Eminem rap? . If anything it is making country closer to its black roots and more universal beyond the US
@@AA-nb2gy Because racist people exist and make it all about "why does this person of color is doing this?". When they stop doing that then people will stop calling racism
Eminem has released 10 rap albums. Beyonce has released zero country albums to date.
There’s a lot of debate about Bey doing country that just wouldn’t happen if she were white, so I agree up to a point, but there’s also the fact that she’s never represented herself as a country artist in the past quarter century she’s been making music. A little room for skepticism and surprise is warranted and expected.
@@Micah1814Beyoncé was born and raised in TEXAS. Prior to media training you can hear her accent heavily and also she has country music. Google is absolutely free. This is part of her culture which shouldn’t be up for debate especially because the people questioning Beyoncé can’t do simple google searches.
@@dt176 Part of the reason she stopped doing interviews was people making fun of her Texas accent! I don’t understand why anyone would question a southern artist making country music, even if that’s not their usual genre.
If you wanna hear disco, EDM and house, you need to listen to her Renaissance album. You have no idea how talented and versatile this woman is.
Also...
This album was completed a couple of years ago & there were published reports that Beyonce's next Era would consist of House/Dance, Country and finally Rock... all of which she's dabbled in before.
The lyrics but also the artists that she decides to collaborate with have been pioneers and icons in the various genres she's played. With Renaissance, she worked with and credited on the album, the pioneers of House and Disco - who are now receiving their SHINE, and increased revenue.
With this album she's doing the same with pioneers and important artists of the genre, including Rhiannon Giddens - a PHENOMENAL artist and a POWERHOUSE in her OWN right.
With her incredible voice (operatic levels), her instrumentation, her HISTORY telling (has been instrumenal ;) in the public knowing that the BANJO was an instrumen tbrought to America by Enslaved Africans).... she is AWE inspiring.
That’s her ancestry, Southern Blacks created the Banjo and country music, they just never got the media attention because of racism. Do your research on the history of Country Music!
✌🏽❤️🏹
The banjo was actually invented in the Caribbean, by a slave. But it did travel to North America where “hillbilly music” which eventually became country, was heavily influenced by black Americans, and poor whites, before eventually being called “country” and heavily gatekept by Caucasians.
Daddy lesson is the most country shes been that i can remember. It was on the Lemonade album and she did a performance of it with the Dixie Chicks at the CMAs. You should watch it.
Daddy Lessons is an addictive catchy well done song
Album of the year snub!!
She’s also coming out with a country album for act II. It comes out march 29.
Beyonce's song Hold Em is catchy as hell.
Toni Braxton Week 1!
#5. He Wasn’t Man Enough
#4. Breathe Again
#3. You’re Makin’ Me High
#2. Just Be A Man About It
#1. Unbreak My Heart
Please do Toni Braxton. She is one of the best selling female artists of all time, has several Grammys and other awards, was one of the leading acts of the 90s, and she is known for her numerous hits and her very distinct and unique voice, trust me you guys would love it. I couldn’t fit all of her hits in this list, but I think these may be some of her best and most important songs. A week dedicated to this legend would be amazing.
Beyoncé's first country song was "Daddy Lessons" from her 2016 album "Lemonade." It was more of a proper jazzy New Orleans country song.
"Lemonade" is a very diverse album, encompassing soul, pop, reggae, rock, R&B/pop, country, chillwave, bounce, etc. It was a concept album basically about her marriage experience, essentially her journey through her 12 stages of grief, from Intuition, Denial, Anger, … to Hope and Redemption. Each stage has its own genre to immerse the listener. For example, she incorporated the rock genre for the Anger stage to properly evoke her rage. It was a great album. The album was accompanied by a film with the same name.
--
Beyoncé recently released two songs: "Texas Hold'em" and "16 Carriages."
since you already reacted to Texas Hold’em, i hope you could also react to "16 Carriages” and “Daddy Lessons.”
Also, Beyoncé is releasing her three-act project. She released Act I back in 2022:
Act I - Renaissance (house/disco)
Act II - [No album name yet] (country) will be released on March 29, 2024
Act III - (rumored to be a rock album)
You all need to listen to Beyonce sing Daddy Lessons from her Lemonade album. Country music is in her DNA.
_Kudos to the composers and that banjo-player is just OUT OF THIS WORLD!! Beyoncé, TOGETHER WITH Nathan Ferraro, Elizabeth Boland, Megan Bülow and Raphael Saadiq wrote TEXAS HOLD 'EM; she produced it with Killah B and Nathan Ferraro. Rhiannon Giddens, who has long advocated for the reclamation of country music instruments by Black musicians, plays banjo and viola on the song._
OMGGG 16 CARRIAGES NEXT
16 Carriages, the other one she released, is the superior song. By a mile. But “Texas” is beginning to grow on me. She did country and rock on “Lemonade”, and house and disco on “Renaissance”. Her singles and radio hits don’t do her albums much justice. She’s been taking lots of creative risks with her sound since “4”.
Her renaissance album is disco & house! 😂 And Lemonade has country and rock.
Beyonce experimented with a lot of different genres in her Lemonade (2016) album! I love that she's not afraid to take risks and try new things with her music. Her Renaissance (2022) album was house/disco music. I hope you get to listen to songs from both those albums.
For her OG country song you guys should listen to or react to the live version of Daddy Lessons that she performed at the CMAS’s! If you’re looking for Disco…Virgos Groove and Summer Renaissance off of her RENAISSANCE album! 👏🏾🪩
You guys are definitely among the beyhive 😁 you know we love y’all 🫶🏿❤️
I really hope this is the beginning of you falling down the rabbit hole of her 3 act project!
The gossip is that her Renaissance 3 acts were going to be dance house and then country and then Rock so her next album is supposed to be rock
16 carriage and Daddy Lessons Next!
I'd also consider "Irreplaceable" as a country track. The talk back when that was released was that a ton of artists passed on it due to it sounding country. Beyonce took that song on and it became a hit.
Definitely pleaseee watch Daddy Lessons live with the Dixie Chix. Also, there is an extremely viral dance to Texas Hold Em lol. Great video y’all!
*Alsooo Lemonade is that multi genre masterpiece you’re looking for.
Lemonade was an album of genres and Renaissance Act 1 was disco/dance.
I love this song and this is coming from an east coast girl with southern roots. I love most country music
I hope "no Australians" thing wasn't serious 😭 I'd love a Kylie Minogue week!
Love both of the songs she released but Daddy Lessons is still my favorite country song from her
every genre you asked for, Bey has already done lol.
The acapella of this is really good.
this is a bop
She done did it!
This song is going to be in the second act of her Renaissance album. The first act album was released last 2022 which is dance/house music. This second act is country music. Third act is going to be rock music. All of those genre are invented by black people and she’s reclaiming it through these 3 different acts.
bring more Beyoncé please!
-baby boy
- Blow
-best thing i never had
-check on It
- ego
-naughty girl
-video phone
I see other people have said this but just to add my opinion if you do another one off reaction please do Daddy Lessons with The Chicks(formerly of Dixie) live from the CMA’s. It’s a beautiful performance from all of them.
The banjo on this song is played by Rhiannon Giddens who is a Grammy winning singer, song writer and musician who is the lead singer of Carolina Chocolate Drop, she plays the banjo and fiddle.
A country album was always in the cards for Beyonce. Daddy Alabama, Mama Louisiana, you mix that negro with the Creole make a Texas Bama! She got hot sauce in her bag swag! This Queen is country and has never hidden that!👍🏾
Ohh I was waiting for this 😁😘
sh technically already made a disco song on the last album called summer renaissance which is a cover of a donna summer song.
How many like would it take for yall to learn the dance and post it? 😂
Listen or react to Beyoncé’s Renaissance album. It’s a disco house album. You’ll probably like it. its the first Act of her three-act project.
“Texas Hold’em” & “16 Carriages” are the first two singles of her upcoming Act II album, will be released on March 29
Act I - Renaissance (house/disco)
Act II - [no album name yet] (country)
Act III - (rumored to be a rock album)
Did you guys miss the Renaissance act I album it had disco, EDM, trap, gospel, rap, afrobeats, etc. Should react to that album.
It’s 2024 it’s definitely country pop….. the Beyoncé way
Daddy Lessons was my fav song from lemonade for a long time. A very rich country song with the jazzy vibes ughh its so goood ++ this song and 16 carriages have me super hyped for this album!!!
Do a one off of 16 carriages too!!!!!
Nice to hear a country sound that doesn’t use trap beats.
Do her other new country song please! "16 Carriages"
I love the catchy song and her voice. Its got me a dancin...
She also performed a country version of Irreplaceable with Sugarland at the AMA’s
She's done different genres on Lemonade album.
If you want a Beyonce Rock song to react to, there is Don't Hurt Yourself with Jack White! And for disco, you have Virgo's Groove (among several others). There's literally at least one song for nearly every conceivable genre in Beyonce's discography.
But please do a country weeeekkk 😭😭😂 anything 90s country especially! Shania Twain, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, and whoever else. There's just so much to choose from.
This is " Texas Swing"!!!!!!!!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 “heyyyyyy brother” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I remember that shit
I love the way she rhymed Lexus and Texas - genius. Everyone is arguing about whether or not this country. If Dolly Parton sang this there would be no question. This is a classic Texas line dance tune. This has everything in common with a song like Achey Breaky Heart. It's just toe tappin' line dancin' country. She is from Houston Texas and grew up going to rodeos. Also check out Daddy Lessons off the Lemonade album.
Beyonce puttin the Country back in Western. "Everything that goes around comes around"
: )
Kelly Rowland Week:

Check out Daddy Lessons with the Dixie Chicks on the CMA’s. That was country as hell and awesome at the same time.
QUEENNNNNNN👑
Beyoncé first released country song is “Daddy Lessons” from Lemonade album which you should give a listen to. ALSO Act I: Renaissance was a house/disco album it was amazing and the world tour was a pretty much a movement for the and felt like a party. This song Texas Hold ‘Em is a single of off the Act II (official album name hasn’t been released yet) but this album is mostly country. Act III is rumored to be a rock album to complete the trilogy ☺️

How yall not react to renaissance
I think yall would love daddy lesson and like 16 carriages
Y’all know you have to do Daddy Lessons next right? Others can explain better than me but the song is about the parallel between her dad cheating on her mom and how Jay Z cheated on her. I can imagine Jay saying to Blue the same Daddy Lesson Beyoncé got from her dad.
Why doesn't anyone react to the actual video? 😂
16 Carriages reaction, please.
“Daddy Lessons” on Lemonade (2016) is country and great. after hearing that the Chicks (also from TX) were performing Daddy Lessons on their tour, they teamed up and performed the song at the CMA awards-and it was a fabulous performance.
also, Lemonade has 16 songs and contains R&B, reggae (‘hold up’), hip-hop, rock (‘don’t hurt yourself’ with jack white), dance, country, soul
If you react to Daddys Lesson make sure it's the Dixie Chick performance it's live it was a bug deal 7 years ago. The Dixie Chick's got banned from the CMA's but Beyonce refused to perform the song if the Dixie Chick's couldn't do it with her. The results the most viewed CMA awards show. Tons of racist emails that caused the CMA's to remove the performance from their website.
Lemonade should’ve won album of the year but of course it was too genre bending for the judges
@bperez8656 no lemonade is a terrible album..her worst one daddy lessons and don't hurt yourself were the only good songs n not 1 GREAT song..in no way was it genre bending..there was nothing new or creative on that album..shodnt have even been nominated
@@jadebel7006 I think most ppl disagree with you.
