Been practicing sports psychology for over 16 years. Best book on the subject is “With Winning in Mind” by Lanny Bassham Olympic gold medalist rifle shooter..
It takes practice to develop the mindset. There’s a whole toolbox of techniques you have to find what suits you and apply it fortunately a lot of it can be done in bed. Even if you don’t shoot competitively it’s a life changing skill to learn and will help you get through difficult times in life.
    All good stuff.

Fantastic video, thanks for that, I particularly liked the section on positive visualisation and concentration. As someone else suggested read ‘with winning in mind’ by Lanny Basham. You’ll love it. It transformed the way I approach the mental aspect of HFT. Personally I always try to think positively, eg ‘good, that’s a nice challenging, difficult target, I’ll enjoy this’ rather than ‘oh god, not a 25mm at 40yards!’ Also visualising the target falling over while your looking through your scope, just before you activate the trigger makes ‘the fear’ disappear. 👍

I thought you did a good job and it was quite interesting. We would not come back video after video if we did not value your insights. Practically, your one of the few youtubers I have watched every video you posted.

    Nice explaintion.
Retired as a physical lab tech and loved it.
It was never boring to me.
I believe it was my concentration about detail and patterns.
Thank you for turning my gears.😂

    Brilliant video..
I've come across alot of shooters and they are beat before they start the competition.. Moaning about the wind how hard the targets are etc 😂...
Totally agree it's good to get into a good mind.. The most important thing for me is when I get to the peg I try and block everything out once at the peg.. Once up form it I'll have the criac and laugh with the other lads.. Takes my mind of it
Plus I always have a good pre shot routine and stick to it..
It's all the small bits that make a big difference between high score or plated shots or worse lol..

Thank you very much for this information. I think some of it will be very helpful. I will work on some of these a little bit at a time. I got in to hunterfield and target about a year. And a 1/2 ago and I really enjoy it and I'm Pretty confident from 10 yd to 30. Or 35, but it gets hard for me from there out.

Glad it was helpful! I struggle with the longer shots too. You might want to try adjusting your focus range if that's the issue, or perhaps your magnification. Other than that it's just a case of practicing those shots. 🙂👍

Recent viewer but already subscribed. Thoroughly enjoying your content but also your approach. Have a similar book [With Winning in Mind by Lanny Bassham] and have performed WELL in excess of expectation for the last two comps medalling in both [rim]. The difference? Spending more time mentally preparing and consistent application. Now returning to my first love and have a 97k so really looking forward to seeing how that goes. Thank you for taking the time to put these together buddy. Good thoughts and wishes headed your way
