SLK is just technical perfection. Whether it makes you feel good or not is a different story. But it is an extremely well engineered car.
I'll keep my 2014 SLK 250 AMG sport. It's quick enough and elegantly styled.

Absolutely! Mercedes SLK. I still have my 1998 SLK and it is still a dream to drive. It is beautiful yellow a color no longer listed and no matter were I go people constantly say "NICE" car. I have cops stop me just to look at it and invariably say "NICE" car.
Lucky enough to be onto my second SLK, and have checked all these cars (and the Boxter) out every time. They're all different. The TT cant quite shake off it's hot hatch roots and, try as it might, isn't as exciting owing to it's front wheel drive (or quattro) nature. The Z4 is quite a harsh ride (beyond "sporty") and the Boxter just too pricey. The SLK bends all three, but unless you got a V6 it's the wrong car. Had the 280 and the 350 now with no regrets or red face.
i still cannot believe that the commentator says that the soft top of tt is better than than the hard top of slk just because it converts faster...

Of the three I prefer the mini-GT comfort of the SLK with the roof down and very relaxed and the diesel version is excellent !!!

I own a 2009 SLK 350 ...6 cyl/300bhp. Love the steel roof.A fabric roof is not as dependable as are the bmw & MB.Plus the steel roof when closed adds a touch better stiffness. Odd they're comparing 4 cyl and 6 cyl!? MB not as nose-heavy as the bmw. As far as longevity, my SLK will still be on the road when the Audi is no more. They all feel different but are all very good cars and all 3 do their owners proud. However, I am keeping my slk.
The Slk is the best looking and the most comfortable and has the most technology. It should cost way more.
merc: 17 seconds, bmw: 18 seconds, audi: 10 seconds. so you say, in the first 10 seconds of a ridiculously instant rain, nothing will happen but in the next 7-8 seconds the car will be flooded? how about checking the forecast and not driving open top on a day that it's going to rain?
p.s. the thing you say can barely happen if you are a little bit careful. but how about the high levels of constant noise you have when you drive a soft top every day?
Z4 gang all day 😁 this is the funnest car I've had the opportunity drive.
TT looks too much like a VW Bug. BMW has a horrible rep for being in the shop more than on the road. Went with the SLK 2015 and love it.
I have an E46 BMW 320i that has now done 150,000+ miles and has cost me very little over the 10 or so years I've owned it.
I had to replace consumables like pads and disks and suspension. The only pucka fault I had to deal with was replacing the plastic cooler tank. They suffer heat death and crack.
Beyond that after 15 years the rear parking sensors died after a long journey with a bike rack on the back.
It might have been vibration or maybe they just need reset with the fault reader.
Don't know yet.
Anyway got to say, Very reliable car. It might have helped that it was the smallest of the sixes and therefore very unstressed engine (Though I thrashed it every opportunity I got)
It was serviced on time and well every cycle.
As it happens Rust got it in the end.
It's sad.
It's on the drive and mechanically stellar but the wings are rusted beyond the point of buying replacements. It would not be worth replacing them for the resale value left in it.
The same thing happened to my old SW20 MR2. Perfect interior and perfect mechanically but sills rusted beyond repair after a few years of trying welding.
One of the pitfalls of living in Scotland where they coat the roads with salt 3 months of the year.
Never mind Z4 next.

What V6? The BMW has an inline 6, yes you are right there is no comparison that's one of the reasons why the BMW won! This BMW is the base model and they are comparing to the equivalent model in the Mercedes so you can compare!
most sane people are saying it and it just speaks sense the Merc is the best buy Prestige style comfort and IMO actually very decent performance I have the 250 CDI(I'm only 21 best 1 I could insure)and despite the 4 not 6 there's little in it vs the z423i and that's from only the 250 diesel the 350 pisses it.

So he praised the soft top for all its upside and then when it comes to its shortcomings, he moves on real fast. It's a big downside!! The fact that it is noisy in cockpit. That seems like a deal breaker to me. Plus soft top vs hard top? Is there even a question?
SnoBoardnRN you are right. That would be an issue to consider. But when operational what do you rather have?
Mechanical problems with the SLK hardtop are very rare and usually because an owner did something stupid. Most common problems leaks around the gasket but that is easily fixed and not expensive. Never had a problem with either of my SLK s mine in 15 years. And yes after having hardtop I could never handle a softy's noise.

Wessels That's good to know. I own a 2015 SLK and I purchased the extra factory warrantee that last until 2022. So I am covered if the hardtop or anything other than the wheel breaks.
pretty much not existent. I can probably fit a couple of backpacks in there.

Two very different cars, The Boxster and BMW are more closely matched.
I had a Boxster 718 GTS and I’ve driven both the z4 3501s and slk 350 also a AMG SLK 55 , If you want a driver’s car the Boxster... The SLK the Z4 both are more GT Cars .
Three fine cars. Just have to find the one that best fits one's checklist.
Try the SLK in Sport mode might make a difference

I had an SLK 320 and it was great, then I bought a Z4 e85 and that was great too...Now I drive a Z4 e89 ...and guess what...It's also great.
Both SLK and Z4 look way better than any AUDI TT
Z4 is too cramped. Most people are either going to get the Merc or go for a Miata. The TT is a style nightmare. I got the wife a white SLK with the V6.
Bill White Hubby and I just looked at the 2018 TT. Walked outside and there, lo and behold, sat a 2015 Merc SLK 250. My eyes got huge. My husband said, “um, I think we want the Mercedes.” The TT is still awesome but no comparison...

Stickin' with my SLK 350 (6 Cyl), kicks them all and a looker with classic McLaren like beauty! Sorry the new SLC are a serious let down especially that front end from the 60's and ehhh who the hell need a sunroof in a convertible???
I've got the same car! I love it. I get compliments on it almost every day. The McLaren front end is awesome..

KingStivan is right. Merc gets the same amount of power with a 2.5lt v6 engine while merc only has the 1.8lt i4. that should be considered as a great accomplishment.

Looking now on the used market you can get the tt for a considerable amount of money less... I think that is the best choice taking the price in account, if we don't look at the money... than we can discuss about it
The SLK is it. And nope, it ain't girlie - that's a lame argument from bimmer nuts. Silence, style, sufficient power, durability, reliability, comfort. You pay for it, but once that is done, there's no "if only..." game, you know you've got the real thing.

As much as i hate mercs i have to admit the merc is the best of the 3. Now if the Audi was the Coupe form the TT would be the best idk i personally think coupes are better than convertible.s
@ TheGodfatherSahil12: If this channel is biased toward BMW, then it's the only one. Haven't you noticed how BMW always ends up at the back of these comparative tests? For what it matters, I'd also have the Z4. The SLK is very attractive, but I'd go with the Z4.
the new one is 4 cylinders and 2.0 Supercharged much faster. the took the new slk but let bmw with the old z4 model ffs!! And btw TT it looks like out-played car by the rest

The Z4 is definately the best looking, the Audi is the best handling and the merc is just overpriced really. As a man I wouldn't get anything else but the BMW I'm afraid.

The Mercedes wins in the convertible category, style, comfort, class and technology good for anyone 30-60 yrs old. The BMW is for balding men after their first divorce. The Audi TT is for single girls in their mid twenties after university loans are paid off.

Didn't know that SLK was that bad. With it's facelift, may be the performance is lifted. But the look is really a joke. The headlight and grill looks old! Just not sporty at all.

Merc imo is the worst of the three. There was a time when they were one of the best, but these days they do so much cost cutting they've turned their cars into over-priced rice rockets. Don't get me wrong, in pictures and on screen, easily the most enticing of the 3, but when you see and feel them close up, they become tacky and poorly balanced.

The z4 e89 is now 11 years old and still looks amazing inside the cabin and especially outside the tt and Mercedes look terribly dated and the plastics inside look like melted down tic tac packets.

These cars have similar price points, that's the most important aspect. Mercedes and Audi do not make a 6 cylinder for their roadsters whilst the BMW ONLY come with a straight 6 engine in different capacity. What an idiot you are.
