- The temperatures are dropping quickly and the dinghy rides to land and getting more chilly by the day, so that means its time to pick up the anchor and head south!! From Northern Maine to North Carolina we go. We end up needing to leave much earlier than expected which leads to a bunch of problems underway. Join along to see what a week at sea looks like, what we eat, how we sleep, and what we do.

Oh yes you are so correct lol that man loves his engine room and keeps it nice and tidy. He is always down there cleaning up this and that hahah
We've done this trip a few times and you absolutely captured seasickness, dog toileting, how to do proper watchkeeping, cooking at sea and all the highs and lows. Fantastic job Natalie and crew. 5 lessons learned are all things we'd endorse as well. It's not a race, it's an experience. Great work 👏😎🐾🦘

He loves his life that’s for sure. All he wants to do is explore with us and be outside so this is him living his best life. He is crazy smart and really understands basically everything we tell him. I’m glad you enjoy following along on the journey, we try to make the best of most situations because being in a bad mood isn’t going to help at all anyways!!

As a boating Dad never count on your crew to stay out of the head when the seas get rocking LOL. I have one son who goes catatonic when the engines start 😄 I swear that boy could sleep through an earthquake.

A long time ago I was an electronics technician in the Coast Guard, when underway and in rough weather the cooks will prepare pasta. I befriended all cooks (the cook is your best friend in the armed forces 😂😂😂) that you better bypass the pasta meal, I learned why a few years latter, and get PB&J sandwiches 😂😂😂😂. First video from your channel, loved it and sub. Fair winds and following seas, and stay safe.
Wow that’s really cool! So many interesting and different jobs out there it’s crazy! I’m sure the cooks were great friends to make lol! Good to know about the PB&J I will have to keep that in mind for when our stomachs are not loving the seas. And welcome to the channel :)

Finally! I was wondering when they were gonna check on the engine! Nordhavn’s are pretty forgiving machines, and they can eat rough seas for breakfast, but with any yacht you need to keep a close eye on the engine.
P.S. What a wonderful dog.
We do a lot of engine checks but just didn’t record them all. We usually check the engine room ever few hours! It’s an important area to keep a close eye on that’s for sure!
What an amazing time with your husband and dad! I am quite envious and very happy you had this opportunity to spend such quality time with your family. I have to say the dog is amazing and such a good boy! I can't believe he went potty on the swim deck with some artificial turf! He is such a smart boy! Fantastic video and a beautiful yacht. It must have cost millions! Very nice!!

I bought my first boat last year, & I have spent the past season and this spring refurbishing it. I will launch in May. I can not wait for the adventures ahead.

The secret to any long passage is rice krispies treats. They can be eaten anytime of the day or night. Nothing like the 2 AM rice krispy treat, and a couple of hershey minis, and a cup of coffee on watch.

I spent about a year of my life at sea in the North Atlantic driving a two thousand ton ship for the government, a ten foot wave is good weather, had a few bad days among the fifty footers, took solid water over the bridge. Not all days are good and the seafarer needs to accept that and have yourself and the vessel prepared for what can and will happen, only question is when? I did a crossing there on the old QE2, lots of folks were seasick but strangely none of the Champaign spilled out of the glasses. The old lady wasn't exactly dry either, took a lot of sea over the bow.
You are only the second person I have seen eat peanut butter and apples. Awesome!. The best snack in the world.

Great content.. I just came across your channel and binged yesterday & today to get to this point.. I really enjoy your experiences.. You take it to a higher level and depth, like town experiences, food, mechanical work, general knowledge, etc.. Maybe consider Mike doing a boat tour would be nice or even a sit down to talk about how he became a Nordhavn owner.. I'm a huge Nordhavn fan.. Thank you for sharing your great videos.. By the way, Camo is a star.. He seems to entertain quite a bit..

I remember those lovely sunsets and sun rise when i crossed the Atlantic and HMS Ark Royal way back in the 70s
I’m sure it was an amazing cruise. Glad we could bring back some of those memories!

Just wanted to say I really enjoyed your video. Sorry you were seasick, a good trick is to look at and focus on the horizon, as it’s all to do with balance, and also turn your head and look straight into the wind, as this helps too, do this and you’ll probably never be seasick again.
I have tried that out but unfortunately that only slightly helps me, but thank you for the tips and tricks :)

A little advice. When underway. Always keep food in your belly. Something starchy like saltines is recommended.
Also maintain condition yoke please.

Food hack:keep the Onions in the fridge,it thickens the juices and you don't get the invisible spray.🙂

Rockland bout 15 miles from my home, I was gonna say depending on year if it's fall head further out or run along the coast the lobstermen chase the lobsters in fall they head offshore.. If your seasick eat an orange then eat bread or crackers the acid in orange eats up the bluh in stomach and the break / cracker absorb it just an FYI if not DRAMAMINE
We dodge those lobster floats all the time here in Caribbean. The local fishermen use anything for a float including a clear soda bottle.

Thankyou for a very well made episode. Will there be additional trials with better sound recording ? The boat, with the the interior, the bridge, engineroom, it all looks fantastic, but the sound dominates the whole trip with this microphone/settings.
Yes there will be more underway videos with a better microphone. We just got a proper microphone so soon there should be better audio with less background noise :)

We like to be on the water, our stomachs just don’t unfortunately. Still working on getting our sea legs...and stomachs! Lol
Don't stress too much about the seasickness, do whatever you can for relief but enjoy the boating experience like you did!! It does get better and if not it's worth it, an opportunity like you shared with the world only very few get. Thank you. 👍

So glad you enjoyed the video!! And it was off and on the majority of the trip. After I threw up I definitely felt better and then just tried to eat more plain food that wouldn’t upset my stomach
Tip 4 is the most important. A tight schedule can be potentially fatal if it forces you to take an unnecessary risk. The sea will kill you if you do not respect it. Better to wait for favorable conditions.
100% agree. Mother Nature is a force to be reckoned with especially out in the open ocean. Always better to be safe than sorry!!

Try a Trans Atlantic trip really love the attitude of your father personally I would have just carried on and not stopped imagine how closer you would have been when your bodies were use to the motion of the Ocean

I really enjoyed this video. I loved your dog and you folks take good care of him and keep him happy. He was a real morale booster. Your dad is super and you are quite beautiful with a fantastic personality to boot. The three of you made a great trio. I'll be looking forward to watching any future videos, this one was well done and down to earth too. BTW, is the boat equipped with stabilizers and how many cabins does it have? I wondered why the two of you slept in the salon instead of a cabin.
So glad you enjoyed the video! And yes the boat does have fins for stability. There are 3 cabins but the salon is the calmest place on the boat when the weather is bad. Our bedroom is up front which moves around a lot on bad weather
