Wild chickens in Sri Lanka

- This is a higher resolution and improved version of a former upload featuring wild junglefowl from Sri Lanka. They are wild chickens endemic to the island. They are generally wary of people (sometimes hunted) but in certain places can be semi-tame - they were filmed at a village in the fringes of a remnant of the lowland rainforest formerly part of Sinharaja and on another patch at Rakwana, Sri Lanka.
Gamebirds (order Galliformes) are divided into nine extant families:
Order: Galliformes (Gamebirds)
• Family: Megapodiidae (Megapodes)
• Family: Cracidae (Currasows, Chachalacas, and Guans)
• Family: Numididae (Guineafowl)
• Family: Odontophoridae (New World Partridges and Quails)
• Family: Perdicidae (Old World Partridges and Quails)
• Family: Rollulidae (Jungle Partridges)
• Family: Phasianidae (Pheasants, Tragopans, Monals, and Monal Partridges)
• Family: Tetraonidae (Grouse, Turkeys, and Koklass Pheasants)
• Family: Gallidae (Chickens, Bamboo Partridges, Francolins, Spurfowl, Peafowl, Arguses, Peacock Pheasants, Crimson-Headed Partridge, African Forest Partridges, Snowfowl, Dwarf Quails, Malagasy Partridge, and Desert Partridges)

Wooow, amazing jungle fowl, Gallus Lavayetti, a gift from God, in our country Indonesia, there are also endemic jungle fowl, green jungle fowl, whose habitat is only in Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara island,.

what a wonderful gift of evolution, unfortunately there is also the python in the same jungle that is out and about at night to eat these beautiful birds, and the homosapiens in many asian countries who catch them and put them in the cooking pot

In Minnesota, the temperature is -6F or -21C. When I walk my dog, I must put little boots on him or the pain of the cold will injure him. But each day, in the snow, I see the tracks of a wild animal around my house. I wonder how it can survive. I see only a few birds now. There are wild turkeys, pheasant, and many cranes that live here. During the autumn this year, I was on my way to work and saw hundreds, maybe a thousand white egrets resting and feeding at a lake.
In Minnesota and Illinois, we call the small rodents chipmunks and the larger ones squirrels. Sometimes people will call the smaller one "prairie dogs" because of their loud squeaking like a little tiny dog barking.

Not aware of it being available for sale. Once there were captive collections. This is a wild species and the Sri Lanka government needs to get more educated people to manage wildlife.

You buy the eggs as well as the adult online
They are wild birds. Not for domestication. Minimum penalty for keeping them is 5 year imprisonment according to sri lankan law.
@@dhanushkakarunarathna3765 we are not buying for domestication we want to propagate this wild birds to preserve them. If not this bird will disappear due to habitat lost. Unless your Government is successful in stopping deforestation/ illegal logging.
