I am a english fella living in Waterford, i support Luton Town, i still go and watch them. I went over to watch them at Wrexham a few yrs back, Luton beat Wrexham to win the league 1 title, i travelled back on the ferry along with a few hundred irish fans who support Man Utd, 1 of them asked me why i supported Luton Town, i told him bcos i am from Luton, i asked him why supported Man Utd, he went red in the face and walked off. Irish fans should support thier own teams.

Even if all the available fans went to league of the crowds would never be great except for dublin.Generally 10% of a given population is a good average crowd to.Take dublin 6 clubs total pop 1.3 roughly each club could draw from a community of 200 000 so 20 000 would be the optimum crowd, but outside dublin the draw is much smaller like dundalk population 28000 waterford 45000

It's only the morons who "support" the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool - their interest in Irish football (commonly known as soccer over here) is often suddenly rekindled for 90 minutes while the national team play 😪 then it'll all be about the English Premier League again.
The best supported club in the Airtricity League per head of population is Dundalk.
Sligo, Longford and Waterford all also get decent crowds considering the size of their towns (a lot smaller than the average town size of a conference side)

Pat Devlin stated the other night on MNS that the league needs to have another league for the reserve players, as a lot of them are young lads and are not getting any better by sitting on the bench. If this was introduced it would really help out the young players and help them develop even more! Its so simple that its needed. Also no wonder the irish league has no money, its because of the some irish people's negative attitude towards the league.

The sad thing is we could very easily have one of the best leagues in Europe if the Irish people supported their local team. Because of Dublin’s population , the big 4 clubs there could be getting crowds of 50,000 every week. And if the likes of cork, Galway, limerick and Kilkenny’s GAA teams can get crowds of 30,000 , surely their football clubs could get 20,000 fans in every week. Irish football has potential to be a multi billion euro industry and create hundreds, Maybe even thousands of jobs. And it’s very, very easy for us , the Irish people, to make this a reality. All we have to do is go to the games. It’s that simple.

@ExtratimeVideo I think the reason that the LOI players don't stand a chance now is because our manager doesn't give a fuck about that league. He only calls up players in the BPL, he should give others a chance too. With all do respect to Trap, I know he's half the reason we are going to the Euro's, but I think most would appreciate it if he called up some young blood for once. There's a young lad who plays for Chelsea called Conor Clifford, look him up. He's scored some amazing goals.

I'd say 99.9% of Irish people haven't a clue what they are talking about. At junior level, the fitness is terrible, and people are living off what they did until they were 20/21.
