Revisiting his epochal performance of this tune with John Mayall in 1966, he enters both B. B. King territory, and then Buddy Guy territory, and makes them both his own. Slowhand will be the Gold Standard for this kind of Playing/Singing for a long time to come.
I have to agree...I admit I am a fan but this was one of the best performances I've seen from Mr. Clapton. But it sure doesn't hurt that he has the "A Team" - Andy Fairweather Low, Steve Gadd, David Sancious, Nathan East and Greg Phillinganes - behind him!

True dat. One person or group, ideally acoustic instruments, no engineering magic, no autotune, no fixing it in the mix. It's what separates the musicians from the mere "stars."
I was having a bit of a slump in my guitar playing where I felt nothing I played sounded good, just like music gibberish. But watching this with a guitar and picking up some of his simpler licks and ideas, it helped. Freaking Clapton eh, too good. The cream reunion of this is also fantastic
I just love that organ! There's just nothing like the way the notes harmonize when done on a really good blues organ. I don't know what kind of organ that is but many of the old Santana albums had one like that.
@@jas2819 I'd say that's a reasonable possibility, but which of the models in the Hammond line? The video is too low quality to tell. I'm a drummer so I don't really know enough about the organs and couldn't even give an 'educated guess'. All said, it's just a very cool sounding organ.

Eric Clapton, one of the guitar geniuses, once at the airport, when he was hungry for alcohol, had to prove to the law enforcement officers by playing the guitar that he was the famous Clapton, because he did not have any documents with him.
It could seem so but then again one could argue that it was a note 'outside' the blues scale to emphasize the harmony when he returns inside the scale...flamenco players do this a lot...like in jazz where there are no wrong notes...it's all a question of relativity to the notes before and after. But it did sound 'wrong' :)
Cannot even begin to get enough of this one. Eric is an absolute indescribable phenom. His playing, his tone, & that band are beyond words.
