Video Settings> Playback > 0.75 makes this a bit easier to take in.
Decisions, decisions. I'm liking Luna although I use ProTools and Logic Pro Most of all. But with my new Apollox8p, I'm falling in love all over again. I'll master this DAW very shortly because I think it's pretty intuitive. I'll keep you updated on the pros and cons of all 5 DAWs I use. Stay Tuned! Stay Fresh! StayFocused and Stay Rich !!!
I use logic also was it worth it to learn Luna ? I’m having trouble deciding weather this is worth it or not to get the twin x quad with Luna. Or the apogee symphony desktop that integrates with Logic Pro almost perfectly.
Just made the jump from ProTools to Logic and I'm excited to try this. I'll probably try this first to mix and master some with some overdubs stuff and see how it feels. It'll be nice to not have to switch back and forth from the console
Plus, it's all Pro Tools shortcuts. I've been on Logic for 3 years and now gotta relearn the old ones again!

Seriously blown away by Luna. Thanks so much UA. I just started getting sick of Protools slow workflow, and started messing with Logic, but it feels kind of cartoony for me. Luna is the perfect simple middle solution. WOW wtf this has got to be the biggest game changer for home studios ever?

Figured out the "ARM" thing. haha I'd put that in BOLD on the first page of the UAD website if I were y'all! But I'd also give all the expansions for free to the first 25 people who downloaded LUNA as a surprise for being loyal customers. ;) Because as Bill Burr says.... "How BIG's your YAGHT gotta be!!!!?

On the other hand this take choosing workflow does not make sense to me. I much prefect Pro Tools' approach to this..
Making a daw and immolating a console is like driving ass backwards ! Old folks trained in old mixers are your target but new folks might not like going back in time to outdated consoles! I'd clean this up, and add features as needed ! You did a good job making a console !
There is plenty of other DAWs that do what you’re requesting.
@@elissitdesign I asked UA to come out with a console about 5 years ago. They have done it. Apple uses my expertise also.
The shortcut commad + space bar is the system shortcut for spotlight.

Just press 3 on the number pad like pro tools. worked for me when recording.
TracksAllDay yeah my keyboard doesn’t have the side number pad and the main numbers along the top apparently aren’t the same cause that didn’t work for me. Right now I have no keyboard shortcut to start recording that I can figure out.
TracksAllDay - Assuming you’re on a full-size keyboard.
Hello, is it possible to add multiple tracks with ascending input source? For example channel 1= input 1, Chanel 2 =input 2 and so on...?
I installed it with my Apollo X and when I opened Luna it was more like going to a shopping website than a DAW, so I deleted it immediately
Do you think having a Grace 101 mic pre overkill if I get the Apollo Twin With Avalon Plug-ins, 610 B plugins etc?
No, the grace is great I have 2. Great clean & powerful Pre-Amp that can be lined-in to the Apollo for some variation tonal variation with Mics. Also has a Mic ribbon option & HPF. Can't go wrong. As long as it serves your needs!
I see why I had trouble recording recently: I made four tracks when I was trying to select input #4 from the hardware mixer. 🤦♀
Logic Pro's recording and comping processes are way easier and more comfortable. I'm still testing the software but I think the Logic's way to record audio is unbeatable.
Logic's Loop Record and Comping capabilities are incredible. Basically why I use logic. I'm giving UAD some time since this is new, I really believe in them.
For loop recording can i cut parts of takes together to make a best version from all the takes?
Yes :) Googe versions and takes with Luna. It's on the UAD page but it's deep in there. Took me a minute to find it. LUNA is gonna kick ass! It's only version 1.0
Looks great, so thanks for this. Lets say i want to record the UAD Marshall Plexi with a third party Echoboy. Where do i put the Echoplugin? ✌🏻
You don't. AU plugins are handled by the CPU and therefore can't be in low latency paths. Use our EP34 plugin.
@@UniversalAudio Sad. I own the EP34. Good plugin. I´m a fan of diversity and got a lot of other echoes to experiment with.
So, I won't be able to record with something like Helix Native, or my amp with an Impulse Response loader?

Just 1 very important thing that somehow got missed.
How can it not be a tuner included in the Luna? I record mostly guitar and definately would be so much better workflow if the tuner was inside Luna and i wouldnt need to use other programs or hardware to tune? How could that be missed out? All other DAW i have used has that..

There is a tuner that comes with apollo BX tuner its free
@@marcbentel4129 How do you get the BX Tuner? When I click on it, it wants to go to demo mode or ask me to purchase it. Another problem I'm having is trying to record my guitar. Shows up in the session, move the meters, hit record and nothing. A straight line shows up but no sound. I remember someone else having this issue but I haven't found which video it was posted after. What if you don't want to use unison to bake then plug in into the track - but want to have it on there later? Is that possible to mix it down with the plug in baked in if you don't use unison? Thanks!
Unison is a software/hardware interaction that only applies to Mic and HiZ inputs. If you want to add the coloration of the device afterwards, that's cool too!!
What I’d like to know is how you did a stereo screen recording? I’ve used black hole on pro tools but can’t seem to find a way to use it on LUNA. Any tips would be much appreciated :)

Is there a way to quickly patch inputs to tracks without going through each tracks ?
I record live show session with 64 tracks or more via Dante, AVB or MADI and going one by one is a massive waste of time.

Click the metronome icon and it will play while recording. Also check the volume to make sure it’s up high enough to hear.

Where are the aux tracks? how do I set up a aux / bus track to receive my 2bus chain from my hardware? I can't seem to change the bus input to my hardware spdif? Do I do w/ an audio track with input monitoring? so confused. Love it...but def confused by routing
Make a track and put it in Input mode.

This is a case where the new Isolate feature in Console can be used. Plug a mic in to any input and Isolate the channel (see manual). Once Isolated, LUNA will not mess with it nor will any Console sessions and you can hear it in the monitors and send to Cues.
Hey! I am new to all of this - I have my Apollo twin and use a MacBook Air 2020, it seems it's not enough power between the fan noise, weird high pitch noise on playback, crashing etc. I know my core processor is i3 and minimum is i7 - my question is - is my new MacBook Air useless to run Apollo and Luna or can I simply add memory? Storage? Please help :(
Yes, that CPU might not be up to the task for LUNA.
Could someone "PLEASE" make a tutorial on how to create vocal templates in Luna? I can ad my own plugins but I would really appreciate someone giving me some insight on how to create vocal templates in Luna.
what do you do if you want to comp your playlist takes?
Use Shift Up/Down arrow to navigate through them, and C (copy) and V (paste) to move them to a newly created Comp Verison.
It is all a bit overwhelming for me...had the Apollo Twin for a number of years but only now am getting back into recording music and i have never used a DAW before, only a 4 track and a 16 track HD recorder, haha!

In Pro Tools I used the commit, in Luna do you have a command for that?
Use the Mixdown feature and then drag the file back in.

This video would be helpful except the LUNA display I have differs from the one in the video, like the "click to cue" button for example.
Its all extremely frustrating. ESP the fact that the click CONTINUES to be recorded in any track I record and I CANT figure out how to make it so its not recorded and just solely coming through my headphones.
You've got Mon L or R set as the input to your tracks.

That is not right! Try defaulting your I/O in the I/O Matrix section of Console's settings. You will then see your mic ins.
Hello, very new to UA and Luna and DAWs in general. Is there a way to use an external midi controller for the transport controls? Don’t know if I’m using the right vocabulary...basically is there a way to start, stop, Record, toggle metronome on/off with an external midi controller/hardware? Thanks in advance!

No "count in" in V1, use Pre Roll in the meantime.

Can Luna record from Audio track in Luna in to another track in Luna... Logic can't do that... ProTools can do it... I do not mean bounce to Audio... I mean record. Thx. I am a long time UA user and a huge fan. Thank you guys for developing Luna.
yes, you can do this via Virtual Channels, but the Mixdown feature is the recommend way.
@@UniversalAudio thank you so much. What I am trying to achieve is: record trumpet, road it to another new track, then insert external effect on the new track and click record. While recording, I want to manipulate my external effect/pedal. Would that be possible?
Hardware inserts are not supported in V1, sorry.

How do you record a stereo source played via midi? I’m trying to record a sound module with left and right out into Apollo. I’m only getting signal in one channel. Should I click the Link button or what . I’m stuck here
Link the channels, make sure they're set to Line, and turn up the input gain to a healthy level. If you're still only getting one channel, check your cables/connections and the outputs of your sound module.

What if you just want to record raw audio and just do different takes as is for voice over? None of the additional preparations and such.
Can I use my third party Celemony Melodyne on vocal tracks and can midi data be converted to audio waves?.
Any AU plugin works with LUNA. MIDI is converted to Wav via the Mixdown feature.

No, any channel.
Track versions are not supposed to be used for punching... When you Punch with Luna, audio are placed over the old audio with a "Send to back" and "Brign to front" functions... Theses layers should be more manageable.
some UAD plugins are not displaying for loading on the insert menu...
Check out the release notes, there are a few plugins that are blacklisted from LUNA.

I’m not getting any input from my microphone but the meter is picking up a signal. Does anyone have this issue and a fix?

Have you armed the track for recording? If not the meter will show signal but you won't hear it. Little radio button, turns red/white when armed.

i was goin to try and record in luna and mix in ableton. ill save the head ache and do everything in ableton. this is a ridiculously intricate for no reason.. my luna looks nothing like this i cant find any of the buttons to actually record a session. or be able to load up a audio to record to so i can export back to ableton smh

how do you "link" tracks like in console , that way you put plug ins on one stereo track vs on 2 mono tracks to save DSP...anyone? thank you
Use stereo tracks or send mono tracks to stereo buses.

Soooooo really need some help. Have just been trying to record with an AKG C414 am ensuring phantom power is on, but the track is not showing level in Luna, despite level showing on the Apollo Twin x... Sm58 pulling a sound fine!! PLS help 😢

Mine doesn't start recording when I hit record. I have recording enabled, etc. Why is this happening????????
Record then Play, or just the 3 key on the numeric keypad.
Two minutes and ten seconds just to be enable to click the record button, it is much to complicate.

Couldn’t even get it to start after downloading! Fail!
No issues here testing on an 2011 MBP (supposedly unsupported). Very smooth install, connected to an Apollo x8. I can see using this for mixing only right now until there's a bit more functionality. Easy to navigate and sounds great!
Steve Belgrave 👍🏻 my install got stuck at the part where it asked for an iLok account. I don’t have one so selected “create new” which then just told me I’d entered an invalid iLok account number even though I didn’t enter anything! Stuck in that loop each time I try the install.

Why have all these tutorials speakers who have so little patience and understanding of the level of difficulty for the foreign listener? Most listeners are not tech persons, so please SLOW DOWN! Or make two versions the tech version and the musician version!
I'm an American and native English speaker, and it's hard for me to understand too! These videos really need to be re-recorded with a professional narrator. This narrator rushes, and speaks in a monotonous sing-song that makes him hard to follow.

If I have a criticism, it is that the narrator is speaking as if he needs to catch the 5pm express. Please get someone to do this video more slowly. It is after all a tutorial, not hip hop.
You can slow it down to whatever speed is good for you using Settings.
You lost me at "track types". Don't know why DAW creators feel the need to burden everyone with this antiquated concept.
Also no "new track on double-click in empty area under tracks"? Missed opportunity to speed up the workflow.
The biggest bug in Luna is needing 2 dongles to work!! 🤮
Seriously slow down... Nothing like speeding through a new system to make you want to stick with your current DAW. Bad call. I suspect all the instructions are going to be present at break neck speed.
It’s free you just got to buy a device that cost $600 that’s the cheap unit they go up to over a grand That limits you so you got to spend more money at least let people run your plugins with out a limited us with your I’m a shark technology n we’re just the guppies
