- Discover the advantages of using open-top tanks that allow you to fully appreciate the aquatic environment and why we've chosen the Chihiros Vivid Mini as the ideal lighting solution for our shallow tank.
Our hardscape selection includes stunning wood and Wild Rhino stones, which create a captivating contrast in this aquascape. We'll guide you through arranging the hardscape for maximum visual impact.
Regarding substrate, we've chosen a combination of ADA Power Sand Advance, ADA Aquasoil Amazonia Ver.2, ADA La Plata Sand, and ADA Aqua Gravel to provide the best foundation for plant growth.
Speaking of plants, we'll introduce you to the aquatic plant species we've carefully selected for this aquascape, including Eleocharis acicularis 'Mini,' Cryptocoryne lutea 'Hobbit,' Bucephalandra sp. 'Mini Red,' and Lilaeopsis brasiliensis PAD.
As for the star of this aquarium, meet the charismatic Dwarf Pufferfish (Carinotetraodon travancoricus). We'll discuss the unique characteristics of these fish and why they're an excellent choice for this setup.
Join us as we complete the aquascape, and stay tuned for a follow-up video where we showcase the tank's progress after a few weeks.

recommendation: keep more than 3 dwarf puffers together. They are very social animals and tend to reduce a lot their aggression if numbers are above 3.
Thanks for the tip! Cheers!
@@GreenAquaShop is that some sort of codeword becaus I am in confusion
@@THATfishguywithfish cheers? No just a word of kindness
100% agree. Outdated info will say they are ok on their own but more experience with captive husbandry and understanding to their wild habits has shown that they should really be treated similarly to barbs. i.e. a semi-aggressive yet shoaling species which should be maintained in the largest group possible, ideally no fewer than 6-10.
I think I see at least 7 in there.
Nice tank, really like the bright and light look! I keep my puffers together with Neocardina davidii and Amanos without any problems. They even feast on bloodworms side by side.
I love dwarf puffer fish. I have a tank with a bonsai tree. I used a red moss for the foliage on the tree, I added white cloud minnows, pencil fish, and puffers. It is one of my favorite tanks. Thanks for the great videos.
You are welcome, glad you like this! Cheers!
That sounds awesome. I'd love to see it some how haha. I've always heard you can't keep anything with dwarf puffers since they attack everything. I have shrimp and endlers with mine though and never a problem. I always keep the tank stocked with snails for snacks though.
Yeah, yours are well behaved. :)
I've had 2 puffers together with 8 silver mollies and a couple of gold gourami. The puffers nibbled on every other fish (including their buddy puffer), even though the gouramis were at least 10 times as big as the puffers.
Do vid with ur tank bro would love to see that!
I really love this type of tanks! So many points of interest! Just the design alone makes it unique, gives it a 3D look! THANK YOU Balazs for the video! Awesome hardscape!
You are welcome, glad you like this my friend. Cheers!
Yes!! Finally a tank for a different fish. I would really love to see you setting up a turtle tank since it can be little tricky bc turtles like to dig and destroy. I've never seen anybody make a nice aquascape for a turtle tank. People tend to make it simple.
Check out MD Fish Tanks. He has an awesome turtle tank.
i have a 120 shallow tank fully planted with fish and shrimp which are also breeding and a musk turtle !!!! it is certainly possible !!! many many people told me it would not be possible at all !!!!
MD fishtanks
@@patrickmcpherson6633 mate his turtle tank is awful full of algae and surface scum and poor timmy is always covered in algae he never makes long term tanks !only look good when freshly done or he does an update ! look carefully when he moves around his studio and you can sometimes catch the other tanks that are off camera !he enjoys making content rather than aquascaping and then he takes them down no good as long term tanks that most people would have in there homes and in my humble opinion
@@steflewins appreciate the perspective, I don't know much about keeping turtles so don't know if that environment is harmful to them. I think his natural style looks cool for the turtle personally. But it certainly is more algae covered etc than a lot of pristine show tanks here.
Wow, this is one of the best scapes I’ve ever seen so simple and all of the colors go together so well. Great job
I love dwarf puffers...YAY!
I love dwarfs!
@@mcdus1441 And I love this tank so much Green Aqua!!!
Cheers! :)
probably one of the greatest tank you ever done
From Vietnam very happy to see Balazs again!❤️
I like this tank a lot. Simple and not pretentious. True nature style.
Yeah, it is simple indeed. Glad you like it. Cheers!
Love that. One of my favourites for sure.
I truly Soo much Love this video ✨🌿 this has been one of the sweetest tank builds
Awesome scape and fish choice.
Wow... what a beauty scape in a shallow tank ...another good alternative for that tank will be with a betta fish.... they love shallow tanks
Super cool! Thank you! Y’all have the best videos!
Thanks for the support, you are great! Cheers.
This wood is very beautifull and extra detailing.
😍
Such a cool scape looks beautiful
Thanks! Glad you like it!
I’m ordering my 60F today so I came back for a refresher. It will go in my office and replace a 22L nano tank.
really love this tank ! huge fan of shallow tanks. Keep it up guys
Thanks, will do!
love this setup ...
Beautiful 🤩 ! I love ❤️ the plants behind and the pots you’ve made !! Show us these in detail please 🙏
You will see a separate video on it on Monday! :)
I love all the language captions
Love the scape
Looks awesome Balazs. Fantastic job! Really like these 60F style shallow tanks. Love that wood as well...I think that is the major trend nowadays... The reason I like this is it reminds me of some of Adam's aquascapes at his idea studio.
Yes, Adam has used similar wood before, I agree with you.
That was beautiful ,man. Cheers
Glad you like it Luis, thanks man, thx for the support!
Vẻ đẹp hoang dã, tuyệt vời
Glad you like it, thanks for watching!
Beauty in simplicity, Balazs. Very nice. 👍 🐡
very cool video, i am now a subscriber. i loved the gravel layout explanation
I need such a tank in my life.
4:34 "this branch is going to obstruct the maintenance, so I am going to remove it" KUDOS to you good sir, too many tank builds I see are set up for pure aesthetic purposes with entire disregard for upkeep and maintenance, which leads and unmanageable and dirty tanks in the long run which in turn defeats the initial concern for beauty as it becomes ugly very rapidly if it cannot be maintained.
another amazing build video
Cheers, thanks!
Awesome video. I just might try doing one of those tanks myself.
So beautiful👏👏👏
Your work is amazing and inspirationable make a hybrid aquascape mimicking the rio negro that would be amazing😀
Loved the tank... Loved the editing work...
Cheers, thanks! Our video team is super cool!
Hi, hello, I'm from China. Although China's aquarium industry is very developed, the quality is not very good, especially the aesthetics of the aquarium set is far behind. I really like watching your videos and learn a lot from them. I have been in contact with aquariums since 2016. ADA products are really good, but the price is too expensive, and the premium is serious. After watching your video, I learned how to build my own aquarium more reasonably. If only you guys could set up shop in China lol.
dwarf pufferfish is endemic to our area ( kerala). Iam very happy to see them in that beautiful planted tank😀.. I only seen them in mudy rivers in here.. There are 1000 of them in our rivers😊
How big do they grow in the wild?
@@mayshack i saw some of them around 3 cm
thats why this tank is horrible for the puffer, he wont grow old in there
@valle.k.7180 these are called DWARF for a reason 🙄
Longue vie a " aqua green". 👍😍👍😉
Thanks so much for the support, William! Cheers!
Thanks
Finally a video with a tank I have!! 😃
Actually, we have another one or two vids, check them out. Cheers.
@@GreenAquaShop I’ll check, cheers!
Come on puffer guy come on😍
I'm
gonna be honest, I'm 3 minutes in but I already enjoy this channel, definitely gonna stick around
I have a 60L tank with 4 puffers and a whole army of shrimp +3 Zebra snails, they've been living toghetter for 2 years now without any compications what so ever! So don't hold back on the idear of using shrimp with puffers, shrimps are way to fast for them anyway and they multiply so fast that those puffer never would be able to make them go extinct in the tank. But this might probably not work for everybody though :D
Beautiful work well done
Thanks so much, glad you like it.
That's cool
Always satisfactory and so natural !! So peaceful to watch your creation 🙏🏻 ( Namaste from India )
Namaste, thanks for the kind comment.
You guys should really make a mangrove forest tank. That would be so cool.
Looks so great
Glad you like it, cheers!
Good song choice!!
Thanks!
HERMOSO CON ESOS PECES GLOBOS FELICITACIONES.
とても綺麗な水景ですね。

Thanks so much for the kind feedback. I feel the exact same, but with the Japanese suikei creators. I respect them a lot!
So Beautiful 😍
Beautiful
Thanks, Many, glad you still like our creations!
Definitely a modern tank where you can see through what is flushing the water surface
Yeah, modern. Nicely put. Cheers.
Excelente montagem👍😃
Nice 👍🏽
Maravilhoso 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I keep dwarf puffers with numerous shrimp, and they do not bother, nor have I ever seen them even approach a shrimp. I have no doubt they eat small ones (as do all fish). I would not guarantee this will always be the case, but for those thinking about including them with shrimp you can try it, and if it fails transfer the puffers or shrimp. They did however literally eat every snail in my tank, so now I have to add snails to the tank. Even very large snails, which I assumed would be safe from them, eventually got hunted down and pulled apart.
Perfect!!
Glad you like it, thanks for watching and commenting - as usual. Cheers.
Hermoso este proyecto..
Thank you 👍
I succesfully keep a full and growing Orange Sunkist shrimp colony in a 3 gallon tank with 3 puffer fish. Experiment on your own folks don't always follow what you see on youtube. I'm sure some shrimp get eaten but thats the circle of life.
You are the Michelangelo of Aquascaping
The best aquascaper
Thanks! But there are many better scapers out there! Cheers!
Thanks for the Persian translation
NICE
It's nice to have paid assistants. 🙂
It's nice to have a team, period. :)
Ohh! Hello Hungary! From Cambodia
Hello! Thanks for being here, thanks for commenting!
A lot of shallow tanks begin to look alike because their dimensions necessitate a certain "style" of scape. However, you have managed to make something quite original and beautiful. Balasz always pushes himself to create something great and it is very inspiring. I love that you chose pea puffers, too. Thank you again to the whole Green Aqua team that makes these videos possible. Take care.
Thanks for the support, Phil, as always, glad you appreciate the creativity we try to put into these tanks. Cheers.
you could say the same for any size tank really though !!! shallow tanks can look amazing when you create structure coming out of the tank !
I think the term F for Flood came from the idea that shallow thank resemble the natural habitat that only fill with water when it flooded by rain.
the Pool is for habitat that always fill with water.
Flood and pool makes sense. Flood like a flood plain so a lot of emergent growth shallow water, a habitat that will be dry in dry season but aquatic in rainy season. Pool meaning a habitat that is always aquatic, deeper water, so deep tank
its just so beautifullllllllllllll
Glad you like this. Thanks for watching.
Hey Guys, great tank! Could you give an Update on this in the Future? That would be awesome.
I've always wondered about the meaning of those letters.
Hahahaha.
Thus, great tank, Balázs! I just got worried about the risk of getting sand and soil mixed up.
Cheers from an convalescent brazillian friend!
Cheers, yeah, now we know. LOL
i want to use this setup on my 60x35x35cm tank. thanks for the inspiration..
Vety nice, but what kind of filtration do you use for this tank?
Beautiful tank again. Very placid and river-y because of so many flat stones. I would offer as a cavil that the front flat stones are too evenly spaced. Maybe some of them could be closer and others farther apart. Maybe one could lean a bit on another.
Yes, good point, William. You are right. Will reconsider, thanks for the creative critics. Love these comments.
❤❤❤
Hi GreenAqua,
Why do we use KH/GH remineralizer with RO water if we can install TDS adjuster to our RO system which would set TDS of RO water as needed (say 120 PPM) ?
Thanks.
Love this!! Where do you get those black turn tabes!?! How very helpful!
Look online for “Lazy Susan” turntables, that’s what they’re called
Hello green aqua 'greetings from Belgium
Greetings, Erna! Good to have you here!
So beautiful! I just dont want to clean it😬 maybe if i was retired. So sooooooothing maybe some water dogs too
Yeah, some people will spend their free time with other things they find disconnecting.
Hello, thank you for your YT channel, it,s really great! I have a 200l tank. he wants to have rotala h'ra, eleoharis parvula, Micranthemum "Monte Carlo" and rocks. I have an Oase biothermo 600 filter. i thinking about CO2 reactor and a UV lamp. is it not a weak filter for such conditions?
Hello, guys! Amaizing tank! What disain you are recomend for axolotl😅?
👏 👏 👏
Que tipo de filtro aconsejarias para el acuario ya que no tiene mucha altura?
another great aquascaping video - i do like the look of these shallow tanks
what type of filter is recommended for shallow tanks? submersible, HOB, external?
I use a bio master 250 on my 120 -f (30 cm depth )
Awesome tank! What kind of filtration do you have in this tank? How often do you do water changes?
I didn’t see a filter. That’s why I’m reading comments to find the answer.
Hi beautiful work but is there no need for a filter or heating system?
Yes, there is need. We just didn't show it. But it is listed in the description. Cheers, welcome to the channel.
Nice setup but no snails or otto for cleaning?
Owner and breeder of Dwarf Puffer fish. It is not true that puffers eat shrimp, they may but on a very very small scale and when they are super starved. I have Shrimp (mixture of Neocaridina and Amano)in all my puffer tanks and never seen a dwarf puffer even slightly interested in them. I always have plenty of shrimp fry around.
Also I see recommendations of keeping a number more than 3 to reduce aggression... you can keep as many as you want as long as you have a low ratio of males and enough space for them to have domains, It's the boys that kill each other. That's what I found breeding the last 4 years anyway...
Đẹp thật sự
Juniper wood? Does that leach anything besides tannins? Junipers have a lot of resin/sap
Would have been great to create a swamp with lots of carnivorous and emerged plants for a change. But looks good as always of course
That is not a bad idea, maybe I'll do something like that someday.
Love pea puffers...id agree with some others that they are unlike other puffers in that they do better in groups. My group has died off and i only have 1 left in a 60 gallon tank where he's housed with a male texas map turtle that doesnt eat fish as well as 10,000 snails...he feasts all day on snails...it takes me a while to find yim hes so small but whenever i do hes snatching snails off the dragon rock or plants...i want to buy some more...
What kind of clippers are those you are using to shape the wood?
Ooo I have the Legacy one 😏
Cool! Cheers!
Can I ask what light u it you are using please? Im sorry, I just cannot make it out what you say on the video….beautiful scape, I am looking to recreate the hardware used as I love the look of this tank
love the tank, what were the other little fish that share their tank.... such inquisative little fish...
We have puffers and otos in this tank. Love them.
H = Hara, which mean deep
F = Fukai, which mean shallow of depth
Oh, ok! Thanks!
for apply the wood to the rocks you can use baking soda with super glue, it's safe for fish
