    The black 19” rims look so nice compared to those 18”s you had on during the summer. Beautiful car!

    My model 3 headlights were really bad adjusted and I did it manually which turned out ok. Bjørn or any other with newly calibrated headlights: since yours are adjusted could you consider parking x meters from a wall and measure were they are. Good baseline to compare against. Even after adjustment since load could change it.

    • @Leaxim
      @Leaxim Před 5 lety +2

      There should still be the percentage written on the headlamp, with that you can calculate the target height for a given distance yourself. I'm sure Google can help (1,2% equals 12cm down on 10 meters). But anyway it's better to let experts do it.

    • @Legio1974
      @Legio1974 Před 5 lety +1

      Leaxim yes that could be calculated, but its configurable both horizontal and vertical. I haven’t seen the numbers is it 1.2% for model 3 vertical alignment? How to set the horizontal?

      Go to a proper mechanic that has the equipment to measure the light cone. It takes 10 minutes and only costs a few pounds (I was charged £15 in UK). Now it is accurate not just a guestimate. Do it right, do it once.

    • @jm-btt
      @jm-btt Před rokem

      @@mike.n.davies I did it at the car workshop, but now they are again too high (getting flashed from others cars). There is a problem with the software/hardware. They went out of calibration in 2 months.

    I've had a service center appointment in Frankfurt for that but I also did it to get a paint defect fixed and asked about V3 FSD neural net computer. Lights were adjusted properly and the paint defect got fixed very nicely (all for free and rather quickly). They had no information about FSD hw replacements so far.

    Great timing on the video, hat a Model 3 behind me today and the headlights were blinding me in my dimmed mirrors..

    A quick check is stopping close to a wall on a flat surface, for example in a parking garage, mark the low-beam cut off line where it is horizontal with a bit of tape on the wall and back up a bit, then the cut off should be very slightly lower - if it is higher your lights are shining in the eyes of ongoing traffic.
    Edit: I noted two Model 3's just yesterday with wrongly adjusted lights, on one the drivers side light was too high, on the other it was the passenger side light.

    • @stabilostick
      @stabilostick Před 5 lety +1

      This might be not 100% correct. E.g. over the lamp on the other car was written „-1.3%“. If you back up 10 meters the cut off line must be adjusted to be 13cm under the initial line.
      How much is this value for a Model 3?

  • @richardgoldsmith7278
    @richardgoldsmith7278 Před 3 lety +1

    Quite a few of us have had the alignment go wildly out of adjustment during software update randomly, and it is necessary to use these adjustments to get it safe and not dazzling until you can get it done officially.

    @CoolSilver Před 5 lety +5

    I had Service center say it was fine but I adjusted mine down about 10-12 clicks. I don't get blinks too much and high beams still light up everything. I also recommend the pros to do it.

    I thought there is an automatically adjustement of the headlights!? Thank you for the Video Björn!

    • @nordlands8798
      @nordlands8798 Před 5 lety +8

      It only automatically adjust for varying axle loads by sensors at each wheel, but the light angle it tries to maintain has to be set manually.

    • @andrewgunawan6592
      @andrewgunawan6592 Před 5 lety +5

      Yes there is! But you'll have to adjust the '0' position and the car will adjust back to the '0' position automatically according to load and etc.

    • @felix_d5412
      @felix_d5412 Před 5 lety +4

      The automatic adjustment of the headlights only corrects for different loading of the car. Even in cars with automatic adjustment, they still have to be adjusted manually to the right basic setting.

    I had te lights adjusted by Tesla a coupe of months ago. But a few weeks ago people were flashing at me again. I parked on a dark road and could see the ligts were up quite high. When I went into de adjustment screen te lights “self adjusted” and seemed a lot better. I left them like that and all seems to be OK. I have the feeling that during updates the car re-adjusts, but probably not correctly because it is in my garage with the wall realy close by.

    My 2008 Citroën C5 tourer never had a light adjustment. As it has hidractive suspension, when i high it to go over obstacles, the rear goes up first, then the front. The lights keep adjusting based on the hight of the car. And turn on corners too, and have blind angle lights, the first times i drove it at night, i thought that a car was comming behind when i cornered, looked in the rearview mirror and nothing! Then i reminded the side lights, it hapened several times!😁

    For driving lights i prefer to have a steepish slope down and high beams a little bit up. My personal test for driving lights is if i were about 50 meters and got my eyes on the same height as the hood to windscreen connection i should not be blinded. If i do its to high.

    What happens when you drive in right hand drive countries, because the raised beam on the right side will blind oncoming traffic?

  • @Republic3D
    @Republic3D Před 5 lety

    There are two types of adjustment. On cars with halogen lamps, you can often adjust it in the car with a button or scroll wheel. Cars with xenon or LED lamps have automatic adjustment. But in both cases you can adjust it further manually like he showed on the Land Cruiser.

    • @nordlands8798
      @nordlands8798 Před 5 lety +2

      Note that the manual setting on older cars should only be used to set the lights lower when having heavier than normal load on the rear axle, the normal position is 0 / maximum.

    • @stabilostick
      @stabilostick Před 5 lety +1

      The automatic adjustment does not analyze the cut off line of the lightbeam. It only measures the movement of the cabin compared to the axels to compensate for different loads. The light adjustment with no load must be still made with a tester like shown here.

    Unfortunately I have experienced the same issue.
    Factory delivery was for the low beam in too high position and now after software Update to too low position.
    Is it correct, if the you want to adjust after the low beam the high beam and the fog light under the same setting? That means going to headlight adjustment change from low beam to high beam and adjust with the little wheel at the steering wheel? As soon as you move from the headlight setting it will automatically save the last setting? What’s about the Front fog lights? Are they adjustable in the same manner?
    Thanks for clarification!

    So many people saying that they are surprised that you can adjust the headlights from inside the car.
    My 2001 VW Caddy had that feature, it's a knob inside the car to the left if I recall correctly.

    Poor cut off, missing lighted areas, wrong trafic for ECE...pfff Tesla should ask more quality check on the suppliers and request replacement of those headlamps. The headlamps are part of the safety measures and systems on any car, technically that car it`s not legal to drive. You are going to drive and expect light in the right area of the road...you will have none, it`s a risk of hitting cyclist and pedestrians at night. I expect more from Tesla.
