“The Rzhev Meatgrinder” was one nickname for it. The Soviets sent many Divisions in the open without air superiority and German airpower and artillery wasted them. Then for months both sides devolved down to patrol actions which grinded down German infantry so badly they never recovered from. A lot of modern infantry patrol actions were learnt in this long battle. Platoons were covering Battalion frontages through fighting patrols, ambushes, etc. The reason it’s not a famous battle is both sides were happy to forget it and it’s terrible losses. Zhukov I believe was in charge and hadn’t wanted to counter attack there due to unfavourable ground but once the losses mounted looking like a disaster he was put elsewhere to protect his no lost battles status.
Yeah, the soviets wanted to forget it, because they sufferes somewhere between 1,3-3,5 Million casualties, numbers vary, without proper vehicle support and for the Germans it was the Beginning of the End of Heeresgruppe Mitte.
I could see the 20% squad xp boost as a great way to encourage people to grind 2/3rd classes as they are honestly a pain to grind even if you do well ingame
I would much rather we had gotten some Manchuria maps so we would have Soviet vs Japanese battles.... Fighting Germany for the last few years has gotten a bit stale.
I play Germany so new maps are always welcome but the faction that really needs new maps is Japan. It wasn't all Pacific islands. There was also the Japanese invasion of Burma and India (Imphal, Kohima etc.) and against Russia in Manchuria.
Unfortunately most combat against US ground forces was restricted to the pacific islands. Would be great to see more locales from Japan’s conquests but we would need more factions
@@thirstly Not really. Would just need to expand the British into a separate faction for Burma and India. We already have the British units mixed with American. Russia in Manchuria would be restricted to Tier 5 (late war) but doable without fundamentally changing the game.
Long distance battles? Yes, please! Open fields for tank battles, snipers and whatnot. Sounds awesome :D EDIT: Now that pretty much every 2nd player got an APC in their loadout, bigger maps with more players would be an option, I think. Like 15 vs 15 or even 20 vs 20. With 1 / 2 more vehicle slots respectively.
Or any of the dozens of islands in the pacific like Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Could also make fleet based modes or events. Burma anywhere else in the Philippines could work or mainland and large islands
Just a minor correction about tier 2 Thompsons. You can also use the Hyde Model and BSA Thompson 1929 gold order weapons in tier 2. The latter I find especially good.
Well if they ever cover another war im pretty sure it would be WWI with more factions, weapon variety and more people asking for that. Doubt it will ever happen though.

There is some historical records of ussr attacking japan and vice versa , and i really want to progress those 2 faction but i don’t really want to progress them if they only play on 1 theater. So do you guys think its possible ? And if so what battles or maps that could be made from it ?
I'm hoping for maps that illustrates some scenes during the "forgotten" Second Sino-Japanese War , with locations like Henan or Burma. Kinda missing city fights as the Japanese sinds everything is more focused on the Pacific. Its a bummer cuz the stage for Asia was also important. China could also be a fun faction (communist/nationalist) since it" lended/stolen" equipments and materials from the major powers so it could have used many kind of tanks/weapons.
Man I love the P-40 Warhawk but I don’t think I’m gonna buy the squad. There’s an awesome P-40 Warhawk on display at the Robins Air Force museum that I grew up seeing, such a badass plane! I’m super excited for the new eastern front map! 👍
I am kinda disappointed, battle of rzhev was mostly flat with forests, like fortified district map, i did not think they'd add the city itself. I would love big maps that force builing rallies.

For anyone just getting into enlisted do not buy any of these premium squads trying to justify paying for stuff in this free game doesn't pan out, buying these squads will not help you win games and it's just gaijin trying to squeeze whatever money they can out of you, getting better at the gun play and movement of the game will help you win and if you do buy something don't buy above br 2 ratings as anything above will put you in games you will be severely underpowered for

Japan really only has 3 maps. Tunisa could use on as an excuse for more Italian and Anzac squads

This is a good idea. It makes Para dropping a lot more feasible as well with the bigger mapsize

The Battles of Khalkhin Gol would be a natural choice, for BR1-3, which also would be much easier to balance than BR3-5

There are Warhawks with slightly worse armaments at lower BR and equal armaments at higher BR unlockable by grinding the tech tree
Weirdly curious. I just checked (I’m on ps5) no Thompson assault squad available, saw the bar squad and the p40 but don’t see the Thompson squad.
