I saw "Turandot" Tuesday May 3rd and it was spectacular, Liudmyla Monastyrska was perfection. The whole production was flawless and beautifully done.
You obviously do not know of her illustrious predecessors on that sacred stage!!!
@@evgeny9965 No I do not. But that doesn't mean I can't think she's great and since this performance of Turandot was my first experience seeing an opera I have nothing to compare it to. I also believe that Jonas Kaufman gives the best performance if "Nessun Dorma" over anyone else, Luciano, Sarah Brightman, Mina. And don't be an opera snob that's partially why so many avoid opera shows, the snoots .

Opera is the best ambassador of PEACE in the world. Especially with such a gorgeous finale! Turandot's coiffe (or crown) is a copy similar to that worn by Rosa Raisa for the première at La Scala!

Horrible el canto de esta mujer. Peor que Netrebko. Sólo la despidieron para meter a esta señora y quedar bien ante el mundo.
Saw this production in cinemas. Not sure about the context - it does not have a compelling reason for him to risk death to pursue the princess, other than I want to win where others failed, at terrible costs to Liu and his father. Whilst the tenor can sing, he did have a tendency to lick his lip using his tongue, which is most unbecoming. Only Liu was in excellent form, the rest are quite forgettable.
