The darker gray makes the blocks pop more

Love the Jacob's Ladder quilt! It is going to be very nice when you are done. I love your nephew's quilt you are making with your star blocks. For me, I like the sashing where the right side is showing rather than the solid. It will look great with the red cornerstones. You are doing great with Vlogmas and I have enjoyed keeping up with each day as you post them.

Thanks so much for your kind words. I am also leaning towards the dots on my nephew's quilt. I am excited to see everything completed. Thanks for watching and supporting Vlogmas this year!

The Jacob ladder quilt is gorgeous, the darker sashing looks better on the Jacob ladder quilt.
On the star quilt I like the right side for the sashing. I am finishing up a quilt I started at a retreat. You are doing a great job with “vlogmas”.Thanks for sharing.

Volgmas is going wonderfully! Thank you for sharing so much of your time with us. Your nephews quilt looks amazing! I find beauty in either sashing, so dealers choice. I would choose both the way it is now, solid gray on half, dots on the other. Except for the middle where the sashing would transition to the other side and a few squares would require both sashing types. I would also use dots around the subtle stars and the solid gray around the dynamic stars. #my2cent ❤

That is a good idea! Thanks for sharing that. I have to put the cornerstones in first to see how it comes together. Thanks so much for watching!

Very nice video! I just stumbled on your channel this morning and I'm glad I did. I love the quilt for your nephew. I like either of the sashing. But, I think my vote is for the solid. Good luck and Happy Birthday to your nephew!!

Everything looks amazing! Nephews quilt I like pattern sashing, I also thought the corner stones were there and thought that color looks amazing like a silver and gold look....then realized it was the floor!😂😂

Love the baby quilt and your nephew's quilt is going to be awesome. I prefer the solid color for sashing. Which I can hardly believe myself. But I do. I think it looks better when against the reds. I also wonder what it would look like as the setting triangles...then the stars would just be floating. Or if you have enough use the right side for the setting triangles. On the baby quilt I prefer the bolder blue as the stop border but I really like the the lighter, too. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the choices on those two quilt tops.

Thank you for the comment. I like the interest that the dots provide, but I see a good case for the solid as well. I think the bolder color will be better for the baby quilt (for now). Thanks for watching!

Thank you for your kind words. My basic approaches to color are either to choose a few or to choose them all (in a certain order). That might not make sense, but you might choose to use two or three colors at first. Perhaps choose two colors and a neutral. Then see if you can put them in an order that makes sense to you. You can also use groups of colors that already work together, such as the rainbow. If you wanted, you could also pull from something that you love for your colors; for example, sports team colors, or colors in nature that you love together. There are many videos about this topic. You can do it!
