Taylor apparently not only surrounded himself with great friends and human beings…he surrounded himself with some of the most bad ass musicians on the planet.
@@charwest5892 U're right, I should have said it better. So let's say Chad is playing it his own way, but like it or not: that's not the original drumming for this song. At all.
Coming from another drummer who’s studies the foo’s music for decades, Chad’s drumming was an excellent fit and even his little riffs he does works perfect.
@@meatbagAZ Chad's a hell of a drummer, never said the contrary.. Fact is, this song's dynamics are not for him. Btw, kudos to you, you must have an incredible ear😅
For anyone that was there you would have notice Chad smith completely broke down in tears as soon as he stood up from the stool. It wasn’t quite captured on this video
I was not a Foo Fighters fan. I am now. God bless you Dave, the band and especially Taylor's family! I lost both my parents and i KNOW it's a crappy feeling! I hope y'all keep rockin!
What an emotional event! Taylor, Dave, and Chad, three great drummers all together in one historic moment! I can't believe Chad played a Foo Fighters song, and an Everlong one at that... I cried spontaneously. Thank you Taylor, you will always be my hero! I can't thank you enough for this wonderful tribute!
watching and listening to Chad on this song is amazing. I'm also realizing how well Nandi Bushell did on this song when she played in Taylor's place at one of the Foo Fighter's concerts. Definitely need to check that out if you haven't seen it. Think she was like 10 years old.
Taylor Hawkins was such a beautiful guy/angel in every way! I went to London Tribute, totally Rocked!!! Very emotional!! Taylor and his drumming will never ever be forgotten!🎶🥁🎸💘🕊
One of all-time favorite song and Chad play along in tribute to Taylor made this song so much more special!! An absolute banger celebrating such an inspirational and amazing drummer!!! Can't help getting teary eyed watching this over and over but it's just too fucking beautiful and incredible not to!!! RIP Taylor 🥁❤️🤘!!!!
ive seen ff twice and ive seen live shows of them playing this song. you could totally tell the energy wasnt just the same. this must have been hard for them
The second of 2 tribute concerts, all the emotions still raw for most and a total of 12 hours playing/listening to everyone. Having to relive it, they’re all spent. All 5 of them need a break, especially Dave. I thank them all for two great concerts.
@@joshuamartins9487 I think a sort of happy medium might be doable where they stop touring like usual, but pop up as special guests with a guest drummer sometimes.
I was surprised that he picked Chad only because Chad is a feel drummer when this is more of a precision piece. It sounds pretty good even with a bit of swing on that hihat.
I agree Chad has more swing (drifting in and out of the metronome) than tight precision feel but it still works. Chad’s style is naturally closer to Learn To Fly

It’s great what Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters are doing for Taylor Hawkins family. It’s great that all of these other acts and bands are contributing their time and their effort to this. But the fact is this. Taylor Hawkins would still be alive today if he could’ve put the drugs down. He wouldn’t have left a wife and a bunch of children behind if he could’ve just put the drugs down. This is the elephant in the room that everyone is ignoring. We have to talk about this or very soon we’re gonna be having more tribute concerts just like these.
I've honestly never seen Chad that emotional. What a badass.
I'm sure he was but we can't really see
He loved Taylor immensely they were very close this probably first he's really let it out with touring himself.
I hadn’t noticed this before, but before Chad starts drumming, he looks up to to the sky and kinda nods. 💔
Chad played his heart out on that song. 🤘
Every hit. Just like Shane did at Wembley. Shane seemed to have grown from that raw emotional gig in London. It was Chad’s turn for the feels.
He’s on steroids.
💔
Lolololol
Taylor apparently not only surrounded himself with great friends and human beings…he surrounded himself with some of the most bad ass musicians on the planet.
Chad and Taylor have the same kind of energy on the drums; great choice of a drummer for this song. Chad is such a badass!
Tbh, I think Chad's not fit for this kind of drumming. not anymore, at least.
here he sounds a bit off, and practically almost misses all the fills.
@@charwest5892 U're right, I should have said it better. So let's say Chad is playing it his own way, but like it or not: that's not the original drumming for this song. At all.
Absolutely agree, very aggressive, emotional drummers. There’s some great videos of them playing together here.

Chad put everything into it. He was swinging for the fences. That was a brilliant and emotional performance.

Chad's playing on Taylor's kit ❤️
Shane going in for a hug with Dave at the end is heartbreaking. The vehicle is music, the message is love.
That Shane hug 😭❤️

Everlong songs are the best songs
God damn, Chad just CRUSHED that. A lot of passion.

Me too. At this point, I’m not sure it’ll ever fully sink in.
It feels like he's on vacation, and that someday he'll be back 😥

Dave looks fkn exhausted. They gotta take a break.
Most likely an indefinite hiatus…
He was playing almost all the tribute, 6 hours...
That's why there is that short pause about 2/3 of the way through.
I don't think I've ever seen Pat dance so much.

So sad to see Dave like that. In spite of that, that was one helluva performance by all of ‘em.
I read somewhere that chad said Taylor was godfather one of Chads kids. Thats how close they where.

Ya, he's playing more behind the pocket. It sounds good though.
Maybe the meaning of the song for both of them how much they look bed Taylor rather than chads style of playing.

Taylor was the godfather of one of Chad's kid. Everything make sense when you know that.
He had who else available? Danny Carey, Stuart Copeland, and "can Lars drum?"
Shane is the first one to grab Dave and hug him. 😭
Amazing 👌
Excellent
There is no greater Chad than Chad. Very bittersweet performance.
FF had a good run. Can't wait to see what's next.
nice chad! not an easy tune!

Really enjoyed that. To be honest though I preferred the London version of Everlong as seemed more emotional.

Not an easy song to cover, but it was all played from the heart from Chad. He absolutely loved his friendship and being brothers with Taylor.
