Chad and Taylor have the same kind of energy on the drums; great choice of a drummer for this song. Chad is such a badass!

here he sounds a bit off, and practically almost misses all the fills.

Absolutely agree, very aggressive, emotional drummers. There’s some great videos of them playing together here.
Coming from another drummer who’s studies the foo’s music for decades, Chad’s drumming was an excellent fit and even his little riffs he does works perfect.

Chad put everything into it. He was swinging for the fences. That was a brilliant and emotional performance.
For anyone that was there you would have notice Chad smith completely broke down in tears as soon as he stood up from the stool. It wasn’t quite captured on this video

watching and listening to Chad on this song is amazing. I'm also realizing how well Nandi Bushell did on this song when she played in Taylor's place at one of the Foo Fighter's concerts. Definitely need to check that out if you haven't seen it. Think she was like 10 years old.

ive seen ff twice and ive seen live shows of them playing this song. you could totally tell the energy wasnt just the same. this must have been hard for them
The second of 2 tribute concerts, all the emotions still raw for most and a total of 12 hours playing/listening to everyone. Having to relive it, they’re all spent. All 5 of them need a break, especially Dave. I thank them all for two great concerts.
AGREE... they're done in my opinion . Taylor was like a 2nd frontman . He's not replaceable.
@@joshuamartins9487 I think a sort of happy medium might be doable where they stop touring like usual, but pop up as special guests with a guest drummer sometimes.

I was surprised that he picked Chad only because Chad is a feel drummer when this is more of a precision piece. It sounds pretty good even with a bit of swing on that hihat.
Ya, he's playing more behind the pocket. It sounds good though.
Maybe the meaning of the song for both of them how much they look bed Taylor rather than chads style of playing.
I agree Chad has more swing (drifting in and out of the metronome) than tight precision feel but it still works. Chad’s style is naturally closer to Learn To Fly
Taylor was the godfather of one of Chad's kid. Everything make sense when you know that.

Dave's mom passed away recently in Aug. Wembley show was more emotional. He was literally choking up on some of the songs. 😦

Too many shows, pushing himself too hard. He is looking like he needs a couple of weeks off.
Not an easy song to cover, but it was all played from the heart from Chad. He absolutely loved his friendship and being brothers with Taylor.

It’s great what Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters are doing for Taylor Hawkins family. It’s great that all of these other acts and bands are contributing their time and their effort to this. But the fact is this. Taylor Hawkins would still be alive today if he could’ve put the drugs down. He wouldn’t have left a wife and a bunch of children behind if he could’ve just put the drugs down. This is the elephant in the room that everyone is ignoring. We have to talk about this or very soon we’re gonna be having more tribute concerts just like these.
