Circus actually first aired sometime around the late 70s or early 80s (can't remember when exactly) on CTV. I know this because I watched the show when I was around 5 or 6 and I'm 49.
1978 was the year it debuted, with Cal Dodd and Sherisse Lawrence as hosts. Pierre Lalonde replaced them, and was the host when the series was cancelled in 1985.
