A very impressive dry run, either the student is very good or the instructor🤔 possibly both! Very well done 👍

I absolutely love your connection with the student and how clear you are in what they need to do - I'm hoping I can be as able as this student and also "ace" my Mod 1 and 2 in August

Your channel is awesome, and you're very knowledgeable; But I must ask, why did you say get up to 4th gear around the bendwhen doing the emergency stop? Is this bike prehaps a 125 and needs the gearing to reach the speeds? Because I was on a Kawasaki z650(restricted) doing the mod1 and I was told by my instructor to stick to 2nd gear, and that for mod1 you don't need any more, since 2nd gear can do more than enough to meet the required speeds.
Or perhaps was it because the Honda is a 4 cylinder and has slightly different gearing? Generally curious as to why they needed to be so high in the gears. Thx!

Thank you 😊. On the CB650R (in-line 4) we use 4th gear, on the MT07 (twin) we use 3rd gear. On the respective bikes these two gears are very similar to each other and give enough acceleration to meet the speed requirement without the bike revving high. We don't use second gear as when the bikes rev high to get up to speed quite often the students don't meet the speed requirement because they think they are going faster than they actually are due to the sound of the engine. If we were using Z650s we would be using 3rd gear. It is of course possible to meet the speed requirement in 2nd gear, it is simply that experience with thousands of students has tipped the balance in favour of 3rd or 4th gear for the bikes we use. Thanks again 😊

I am so nervous going for my test it not that I can't ride cause I can it because I suffer with dyslexia 🤦‍♂️

Dyslexia shouldn't be a problem. The examiner will explain everything and show you a diagram for the module 1. Keep watching the videos as this will help too. If for your mod 2 you're worried about directions, don't be. Watch my upload on the module 2 test briefing. I had a student whose dyslexia made it really hard for them to distinguish between left and right. They passed with no faults because it isn't a navigational exercise. Don't let it hold you back 😊

Hi Leanna, something I've been meaning to find out for a while now, so your channel seems ideal for the question. Is it a dvsa requirement on test when manually manoeuvreing the bike from one bay to another, to have one hand on bars and one on seat, or just preferred. As someone who passed in the 'old days', I find it difficult to manoeuvre with a hand on bar and the other on seat (or grab handle) so have always used both hands on bars, obviously covering brake. I've heard anecdotal answers to this, but never from an instructor.

Hi Graham, so long as the bike remains under control at all times and no cones are knocked over in the process, candidates can use whatever method works for them. We encourage the hand on the rear seat method as it is sometimes easier to combine balancing the bike and turning the bars. If a student struggles we use a slightly different technique but still with the hand on the rear seat when moving backwards. Each to their own of course once they've passed and got their own bikes 😉

@@motorcyclelessonsuk Thank you for the comprehensive answer, I always raised an eyebrow, when ever I hear (usually from a group of old duffers like me) "oh did you know apparently you have do this /that on your bike test now"... Thanks for the clarity. 👍
