  • Few people are successful long-term sports bettors. One of the keys for professional bettors is to manage their bankroll by knowing how much they are betting on each game they play in oder to make their cash last. Some of the options include flat betting and Kelly Criterion which is weighting plays based on your confidence level in any game. One word of warning, avoid parlays, they may be fun, but casinos make much more money off of parlay bets than straight bets for a reason. Everything Guide to Sports Betting author Josh Appelbaum and VSiN host Patrick Meagher examine every angle of bankroll management to help you become a more successful long-term bettor including guest appearances from Vegas sportbook veterans with Vinny Magliulo & Jak Slade.

    "Picking winners is for losers"
I freaking love that! I've been doing great myself with this. Of course, if I can't figure a game out or it's evenly matched, I leave it alone. But UDs have saved my NFL season this year!

My advice to new betters is to DEFINITELY "never chase!" Stick to your bets and bet unit size. It's a grind. Also, if you do do parlays, I'd always bet against bit public bets, and also go with games less heavily bet! It's amazing how often those parlay cards get killed off with big public plays not coming through! Also, probably bet late, before games start, rather than getting in front of line moves early? In fact, if you feel like betting Sunday/Monday early when lines come out, to try and get a line before assumed movement, wait!! Then bet the other side if all the money's going the way you figured. Opposite here is likely more often correct than not, and you'll prob win more than you'll lose! ((**side note: NEVER bet Raiders as favorites on the road! - might as well light your money on fire!!. lol!)

You should talk about how to handle bad streaks and not chasing losses.

If you have the right strategy you will RARELY lose more than 5 or 6 bets in a row. My Tennis strategy only bets on matches where the outsider is priced at 2.50. And I've never lost more than 6 in a row. Over 667 bets to date. With the most common losing streak being 2.

Shouldn't you redo the bankroll as it changes soo your always at that percentage

I think you change it once you gain like 50% or lose 50% of your bankroll. It's in the PowerPoint in Market Factors.

Never cash out your bets. I'm wondering can you build a bank roll by only making 1% plays or do you have to mix it up.

Purpose of a bankroll is to keep you in action. You'll make money over time if you're consistently making +EV bets regardless of what %age you bet. 1% will add up over time. 2% will add twice as quick. At some point it's a balancing act between risk of ruin & also your emotional state to keep betting even when you lost your last 15 straight bets

Never cashout your bets? I can make 5% conservatively per day on just cashouts.

My advice is dont bet on American sports theres no value in it. I make my living betting on Tennis and UK greyhounds. You master the losing streak nothing else. And you will be longterm successful.
