Mises Boot Camp is a six-lecture seminar for those seeking to learn the fundamentals of the Austrian school. Recorded at the Mises Institute in Auburn, Alabama, on 25 July 2015.
Dr. Murphy should go on the Joe Rogan Experience! He can break down such complex ideas and put them into simple concepts with ease. He's be a great guest for Joe to talk to about economics and how it relates to politics and life today. I think it could really inspire a lot of younger people to come to the Austrian school.
Peter Schiff has done a pretty good job on the Joe Rogan show too.
Rogan is trash.
@@senselessnothing so is CNN, but getting Bob on there to expose a shit tonne of normies to an Austrian perspective would be more effective than preaching to the choir.
Max It requires much more to undo the NPC programming.
@@senselessnothing a small soundbite dose might be all it takes to send someone down the rabbbit hole. I went from apolitical normie to ancap in about a 2 years.
The Austrian School makes a lot of sense to me. I have watched many of the Mises Institute's videos - they really are full of common sense ideas. This Boot Camp series is a very good way of trying to pull it together. I wish you guys great success in your mission to take your practical knowledge to the people. Now more than ever the people need a sensible, easily understood, and pragmatic explanation for what what the f... is going on out there. Many Thanks.
+Pepe LePew Common sense is the key. Socialists hate the phrase Common Sense because it interferes with their persuasive argument. Effectively, common sense is you questioning the validity of a claim and socialists do not want you to question just believe.
@@__teles__ indeed... The goal of socialism is communism.. and the basis of Marxism is a polar opposite to European foundation (family, private property, generational wealth, selfless contribution to the national interests, etc..)
Anyone who was raised in a culturally European nation ought to throw up at the thought of such a ridiculous system... It's absolutely repugnant, Americans that call themselves marxists or socialists have never even read the manifesto, they just think it sounds catchy in their egocentric world
The best part is, most of these pukes have rich parents... Classic
Look, I’m just happy George Costanza finally got his act together.
Hahahahahahaha
Haha, I knew someone would say it!
God bless you 🙏🙏😂😂
We live in a society!
He just babbles nonsense, this is so George.
Bob's one of the most engaging libertarian speakers. Great lecture!
Thanks so much for producing this series of videos!!
+frozencons Yeah, if this series works and people want more knowledge maybe they could start up the Mises Academy again.
I think this boot camp could be improved if it followed the type of lessons Mises gave in his Argentina lectures, printed as Economic Policy: Thoughts for Today and Tomorrow. Mises was able to cover a lot of HISTORICAL and philosophical material in his lectures and you get a sense of the humanitarian importance of issues like foreign investment, socialism, inflation, and IDEAS.
If I were to recommend one of Mises books to the lay person I think that's it, so I think it's a good model. I think the emphasis on history and humanitarianism in those lectures is probably more engaging for most people that Mises work in theory and epistemology.
This is absolutely amazing. I am new to the Austrian school and I cannot even tell you how excited I am to learn more. Does the Mises Institution accept Bitcoin donations? I'd like to do my part in spreading the word. Plus I know these videos aren't free to make. Thanks.
+thewagnerchronicles mises.org/giving/alternative-payments 👍
This is fantastic. I’m actually even more interested in diving into Mises’ philosophies and methodologies because of this.
Thanks for uploading!
Having listened to only the intro and have not yet experienced any of the six courses, this is a good idea and hopefully a successful one.
This is absolutely fascinating stuff. Love it.
"You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice. If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice." --Rush (Austrian economists?)
Since no one answered you - Neil Pert is their primary lyricist and is very much an individualist (heavily influenced by Ayn Rand's philosophy Objectivism). In the early days of Libertarianism when Rothbard was still around, Rand's Objectivists and the Austrians/Chicago school economists fed off of each other - exchanged letters, etc. They had a falling out later on.
I'm not positive if Pert is in any way familiar with Austrian economics/Praxeology but I do know he is aware and heavily influenced by Rand, who was influenced by/an influence of Libertarianism which was birthed from Austrian economics. So in a roundabout way, Rush/Neil Pert espoused some Austrian/Misesian principles.
MISES Institute ... so essential.
Wonderful series. Many thanks.
Very well done! Kudos on the clarity and excellent presentation.
Holy Ra! I am trying to make resources to achieve exactly the same thing, albeit in written and info-graphic form!
I am looking forward to watching all of these as they are excellent as primers, and all these guys are fun to listen to even if I'm comfortable with what they have to say.
Devastating way to compare methodological individualism to alternatives!
I wonder how many orders of magnitude removed from reality is the economist looking at aggregate demand... 2? Empirical data collection plus aggregation could be messily summed up as two orders of magnitude, I suppose.
teach these to high schoolers by distilling it even more. not just man off the street. if they can do trigonometry~they certainly are able to get these.
We can't have common citizens running around here educated... That's defeats the purpose of Marxist world domination
Thanks. I got a copy of Human Action a few months ago, but I’ve not yet found the time to read it. I’ll try to get to it this year, and watch this series in the meantime.
Are the syllabus packets and lecture slides available to us studying at home via computer? Thanks!
I hope Philippines gets in the direction of Austrian Economics
The concept of tracing deeds back to the individual rather than claiming "oh, the Germans did it" is a concept that the American public should implement. We (the majority of course) have a bad habit of generalizing everything, ESPECIALLY historical events..
I've actually pointed this out before, not to toot my own horn, it's not a wild concept. "Germany" herself didn't produce the greatest scientific achievements to date, Costco can't barter.. basic honestly, but very sharp
Where do I go to to get the syllabus of this course?
How many people are watching this to be informed with the libertarian movement
Terrific lucid speaker
Pretty good lection, thanks!
Rough crowd
Love the idea of an accelerated half-day course. But why use the militaristic "boot camp" theme?
That term is a reference to statism!
Silver suit, Bob? Seriously?
Lol
Silver suit, gold tie. A bona fide Austrian
Excellent speaker..
However, I wish his notes were more organized on praxeology... and that he'd taken the time... to better prepare his arguments and assertions. I feel he danced around the immaculate genius of Mises... by starting off with praxeological topics an explanations.. but Dr. Murphy wanders aimlessly off mark by not making clear examples. (...as he argues with his own assertions versus demonstrating flawless ratiocinations that Mises is know for.)
Having a clear understanding of praxeology going into this video, I quickly became lost in third person arguments about pilots, rain, and apples to apples comparisons.... that Mises explains is unnecessary with ratiocination.
It was easier to read the 881 pages of intellectual gold and peer into the most brilliant mind that unlocks the doors of universal knowledge about human action one mindblowing paragraph at a time.. than to watch 37 min of Dr. Murphy losing arguments with himself.
I appreciate Dr. Murphy and everything he has attemped to share with viewers.
Ok?
I'm #999
So many people don't get economics. So this guy will parade his ignorance in other sciences to inject his phd term: "so and so". "Alright?"
